We're building on offroad shifter kart buggy! The base frame for this new project is a Manco Deuce go kart with a semi-independent rear suspension. In this video we finally got the kart driving for the first time! In order to get it there we had to do some basic suspension work, redesign the shifter, and finalize the wiring. She still needs a little bit of work but we were blown away by the its performance.
Thank you guys for watching and be sure to subscribe to see us finish this thing and rip it!

Before we drive that we just want to go through and correct some of the things we kind of overlooked in the past, or did a not so great job on, because now that the things coming into like fruition, we really see the potential and we want to Give 100 % effort on every single part of this thing. With that being said, the shifter was very capably and not that great, so we're upgrading to a basically an automatic transmission cable in a car to shift it's basically a typical two-way cable. Thanks to you guys, a couple people commented how we should go to this system and it makes a lot more sense. So I just spent the last 40 minutes or so making up this bracket.

It is super beefy it bolts on to the engine. So it's going to super easy to have maintenance and stuff for so let's get this installed and see how good our shifter, while these spring-assisted shocks, are really good for a go-cart application and they give us. You know about 10 inches of travel just at the shock. It's basically like a long travel mod for a go-kart.

We basically have an issue where the shocks are too stiff because they're made for a car and our springs don't have enough rebound to get it up so basically like driving. It should be okay, but won't worry about it. It's like an extreme case, so there's two people in it and it's really fully like all the way down. We start to have some issues with steering clearance and stuff like that so Joe, how are you a remedy that issue? Well, luckily, a lot of my friends are hockey players, so we got some hockey pucks we're gon na drill, a hole in the slot and we're gon na push these Springs down and put these in to act as a spring spacer, and hopefully that should help our Rebound time, yeah definitely DIY, but I think this is going to be a cheap and hopefully very effective solution moment of truth hockey.

Pucks are in see how much stiffer it is. That's so much better guys there, Joe ha homeless, yeah just like yeah. It springs back up real nice cool, so now we're going to do is we're going to move over to the back and do the exact same thing, and then I think it's test-drive time. Okay, so in review before we try this thing that things we've fixed up are we added the hockey pucks that have this thing just be a little bit stiffer we finalized the shifter and clutch and it goes into gears perfectly super easy operation, so that cable was Affixed and then we added this box here to get rid of our frozen box, so I think we're ready guys.

Let's go drive this thing we're finally here and this was such a long - build we're gon na kind of just go through, like our expectations of what we think is like really solid and what we think might be an issue before we drive it just so we Can kind of go through that, like engineering thought process a little bit, so I don't know Jason. What do you think is gon na like be a potential cause of failure on this thing? Yeah, I think maybe one of our things is the 40-channel or the chain on the right side from the jack shaft to the axle is unstretched, so that might stretch and have some like to change skipping issues like that other than that and maybe high speeds yeah. I don't think really big issues. Yeah, the suspension is pretty much untested, so hopefully this kind of this thing we thought up and cocked it up with some hockey pucks in there actually works pretty well, but so now, let's cross our fingers.
Let's hope those things we just said don't happen and let's go rip. This thing I mean obviously a New York here we need a little bit of card okay, so I thought it was all. Would you think Jill? I thought it was awesome. It actually rides a lot nicer than I thought it would be not as rough as I thought, it'd be and yeah, and if we come a little closer here, you'll notice how the chain did, as we suspected stretch.

I don't think that's wrong. I don't think it moved or anything I think we're okay it. Just all we need to do is loosen these bolts and pull back the jack shaft, and we should be good to go all right, so we kind of got to drive it to our hearts content at least each each of us. So now we're gon na do is well, first, get some flybys, probably on this road.

Just just kind of get an idea for the top speed is because we might consider a rig here on this thing and then, if we have issues with, if it survives that then we'll try some launches some kind of go back on this dirt, see how, if See if we can throw some rocks and stuff so pretty excited, though so far, she's doing good staying under temperature all that stuff. So as far as carb tuning goes, we have yet to sync these carburetors, so that could be breaking up. You know it's because it is a two cylinder, so if the carbs aren't perfectly synced, one could have more fuels on the elder than other ones running a little bit leaner and it'll pop and stuff, because it's not gon na you know it's pushing air out and Stuff or too much fuel so, but we just tighten that up. Let's hop back in this thing and let it rip tater chip, hey guys.

Oh wait, hey, hey! That's awesome! Temperatures. Let's see yeah temperatures right where should be everything else seems good. We definitely have some carb issues, but besides that it does seem like pretty much. Everything else is solid, so Ken Kesey launched it.

You know that when I was like sitting there like this, and that was me like in first trying to drive so what, if you like, revved the hell out of it, and I can try, let's try that because I want to test this chain. Well, I just drove it up, hills and stuff. I try my very hardest to launch it guys. So it's not like we're driving too slow or anything it's just.

The carbs are pissed off. So what we need to do is we need to sync them. We need to check the jetting and stuff it free revs perfectly. It's just.

I don't know something about it, but even in first gear, with all the torque we have, we could barely spin the tires. So we should be robbed. We should be spinning in like third, I think, but the fan works in everything. I think the only system that could be potentially an issue here are the carburetors I mean we like.
We were doing our very best to try to jerk that chain or make it mess up. Like I mean, I think it's gon na be good, so I guess when we strip it down for paint we'll give it our best shot to just try to get that motor running. We also have a second motor too, but we're gon na have to first thing. We're gon na do is sink the carbs for sure, but I think Jason's gon na hop in it we'll do some flexing and stuff because it's been a long time since building this thing, I want to have some fun before I tear it all apart and do More work to it, another issue we might be: having is the NGO power sports, like gravity-fed tank meant for like a 670, or something might not be giving this thing enough fuel pressure just to keep the bowls full.

So what we might do is either experiment with like adding something like a pulse pump or even an electric pump just to get some more fuel in those bowls, because we might be having fuel cut issues as well, because, thanks for watching this thing really impressed us, It in basically every way besides the carbs, it was super solid, performed exactly how we wanted it and in many ways better than we wanted it. The suspension really worked. Awesomely, I mean flexing it over there. It really felt like all this bench is working and feeling good so yeah.

It definitely surprised me, my biggest, I mean none of us thought the carbs would be an issue going into it, like it revs perfectly all those things, but I guess that's just how it goes when you're building stuff, but I really love just sitting in it. It feels so much like we went. We went the extra mile to put on, like you know, all the light switches, dashboard windshield, all of those things it feels like you're in a car, and I hope the GoPro footage, I'm in between the seats looks really cool because I want. I want you all to feel how they can.

We felt riding this thing so, with that being said, stay tuned for some more vids. On this thing, like kind of like diagnosing, what's wrong with the carburetor so notice, we got to paint it. We have a cool tractor paint gray scheme, we're gon na go with, because we just want something really durable, because we plan on taking this thing, where we take the jeeps on some off-road trails and just kind of following them and being out there all day. So I think she can do it.

The radiator fan kicked on everything works. I mean I'm just so excited. Thank you go Powersports. Thank You ox beam.

Thank you. Dg. The links for everything are going to be in the description and be sure to tell them that we sent you also, if you have questions DM us on Instagram, we'll be able to tell you anything about the deuce. So thanks for watching see you next time, you.

Looks good dude. I just finished putting a ninja 250 in a go kart myself. You are definitely having fuel issues as that motor should redline at 14k. On mine I was losing power and it was cutting out at high rpm due to electrical. I thought it was fuel related but it was the wire that charges the system and it was draining my battery.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars NeoIsrafil says:

She needs a pulse pump. Normally the carb is fed by vacuum, or at least that's how my 250r is set up, so gravity isn't gonna do the job.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joel Ducsai says:

It's a 2 stroke punch it and clear it out, ride it stop babying it you can't baby at 2 stroke

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Aaron Farrin says:

Use a Hollow Drive Shaft as well as a hollow jackshaft if so how come you didn't use a solid one just wondering what are reasons was looks awesome now great job love the content keep it coming

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jamesthebosssmith ballin says:

Idk maybe im wrong but sounds like its slipping you gotta rev it for it to move idk goodluck nice build

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shaun PC says:

Definitely run a smaller rear sprocket and judging by the sound of it you definitely need to fit a suitable fuel pump, it sounds like it’s suffering from fuel starvation.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Luke Combs says:

The problem is imo that little 250 motor is too weak you need a 500 or bigger it just doesn’t have the power you are wanting

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cooper Silberling says:

Anyone know a good video That explains how to do stuff the a drive wheel and sprocket? Tryna make my own go cart wit the 212 predator and watched a couple vids but none show how the sprocket and clutch and chain actually all comes together onto a drive wheel or axle or any of that

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mad-Duk Machine Werkes says:

Carb synch ONLY effects Idle and just off idle – not middle revs and high revs – the engine will have no idea about synch……. you need a jet kit for that pipe –
The bike had a gravity fed tank to the carbs, Is your current tank ABOVE the carbs? yes? So, for sure not it

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars john smith says:

Yeeeeeeeeeaa, you really need to regear that thing it is stupidly low geared. You could literally take off in 5th gear and it would feel like a normal shifter cart LOL please fix this!!

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jehannum says:

Yeah once your moving, and shifted from first to second, learn to bump shift. That will help you a bit, only use the clutch on down shifting.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Craig Clarke says:

Even when the engine is running mint I still don’t think it’s going to be as fast as you hoping it will be. It’s a good build though 👍🏻

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars BIG WIGGLE says:

Lol! You guys have got to regear that thing! Sounds like it's redlining at 10mph. It's actually kinda entertaining to hear it screaming like it's running 50-60mph and then here it comes, creeping past the camera going parking lot speeds. Haha!! You guys did great though. Get her regeared, rebuild those carbs and she'll be a beast of a machine. I can't wait to watch THAT video. Y'all's reactions will be hilarious!!

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Egan says:

Deuces are HEAVY! Almost 700lbs dry, and you guys added a lot to it

I don"t know how they got away with 12hp from the factory, so mine is getting 40, and that may not be enough.

Then I'm sure I have to tweek the gearing.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars humito768 says:

you need to jet the carbs now you have a short exhaust its drying up plus think about drive ratio it sounds too high!!!!

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill C says:

If you add a pump you may need different needle and seats in carbs. I would try a more free flowing petcock like a pingle and make sure tank is vented well.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sickstring Bender says:

Try the original airbox. Should help the low and mid range a lot. Those motors are factory tuned intake to exhaust.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Twisted Michigander says:

sounds like you need to redo the sprocket combo, along with fixing the fuel issue, the engine sounds like it's working too hard to get it moving. My CBR600 powered Hammerhead has a 5:1 final ratio, which is great for low end performance. It will spin the tires, like crazy, up thru 4th gear. I haven't shifted past 4th gear yet (60+ mph in 4th is fast enough)

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars mike mcmeans says:

decrease the size of the axle sprocket for more ground clearance

not too much… remember its a crawler

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Westie 4AGE Turbo. says:

First ( if i have learned anything from my long career watching youtube) change your spark plugs! Then put the airbox back on, then swap all four carbs for two from gopowersports and plastic intake…..

Or,,,, get a fuel pressure gauge and find out what the bike had stock and match it. Better yet grab the entire fuel system from the bike and put it on as a temp measure and see if the issue goes away.

Have fun fault finding cause i have watched so many bloody vids doing just this last year. Ask, cars and cameras and ratherbwelding
Those guys have been through this already

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tanner Hoelscher says:

Y’all need more panels on the side it would look so good I love the build I’m doing a kandi off road go kart with a 2010 Cbr600rr engine

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 4NPUSHA ;P says:

LAME…what's the point of your channel if your not going to Build Break & Repeat this shit come on you push that shit…I'm sure a lot of people expected more lol

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vasily Builds says:

Y'all will get it fixed in no time. Definitely sounds starved of Fuel. Don't remember if they are CV carbs but those are a pain. Buggy looks mint 👌

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nicks backyardprojects says:

Twin carbs are fun to sync, I had to do it when I built my shifter kart with a Honda cb200 engine. Though it don't sound like a sync issue as much as just a clogged carb. Best bet would be to pull em both apart and rebuild them. One or both carbs are leaning out. Also on the gearing issue, first get rid of the #40 chain set up,that karts to heavy with to much power for #40,go with #50 chain. Also on the opposite side you should run 1:1, if the engine sprocket is 17 run a 17 on the jackshaft. Run about a 4:1-4.6:1( 15-60,13-60) final drive ratio. I ran a 3.66:1 ratio on my kart, but it was alil lighter and only had to pull one person. You have to take into account the reduction of the trans, I have all the math written down somewhere. Will have to bust it all out again soon to.
