Today the rotary shifter go kart gets an awesome paint job! This rotary go kart is powered by a 1975 Hercules W2000 motorcycle and is a complete monster for this small go kart frame! In order to get this thing painted we needed to come up with tons of stencils and we spent hours sanding, polishing, and masking. For the decals we hand painted specific renown livery much like the winning 1991 Le Mans car. While it doesn't seem like much, it took us hours to get everything up to spec. We also used 2k clear coat on all of the panels for the first time and we were blown away by the results. With this, we assembled all of the pieces and got to see the kart looking complete!
Thanks for watching and be sure to stay tuned for some more ripping this thing!

Got a super good response in the last video of us ripping this thing an abandoned warehouse, if you have not seen that video definitely check it out. But if you forgot this thing has body panels and because this is a rotary powered little monster. Our idea is to make it look like the famous 787b rotary race car, so we want to go with the same kind of scheme with the green and orange and stuff, so that's kind of where all these body panels are gon na come into play. So the first thing we need to do is fab up mounts for the body panels and get this frame disassembled.

So let's get to work okay, so we got both the side classics mounted up and now all we got. Are these two front pieces? I got to do a little front bar mount and we'll be done. We just welded this up. This actually took so long, a bunch of different iterations and stuff, but it's kind of all tacked up ready to go how this works is this bar just kind of clamps in on the blue, so it's kind of kind of a weird design, but this is really Good cuz it'll give us some protection with our feet and it looks nice.

So now we ought to do is just finish up these welds and it strip the cart down. Okay, so we just grind it down at every single spot where you get the plug. Well, so it looks like all the pipes are just continuous, so now we're just do the final paper up a bit to painting this thing. The frame we're gon na go for a dart kind of British racing green and then we'll have some metal flake to give it a little bit of shine and then we're gon na use 2k clear to coat it, which is kind of a more high-end, clear Cove.

Rather than just a normal round can and then for the rims we'll have gold rims and then for all the plastics we're going to do a renowned library which is the famous 77b race car. So we've got orange or green for that. Definitely that British racing color yeah thinking a lumen of the body things. Let's see how Sparkle turns out.

I hope it's, not it's. Okay, we'll go light. Okay, so now that we're done with all the top coats on the green will it this drive? And now we can get the polishing aluminum engine. Okay, guys this turned out incredible on the luminol polishes up really good.

Only when you sand it and the stuff that we didn't sand, it just got really really clean. So our plan of attack is we're going to shave the air, we're gon na sand down the pins and then we're gon na polish, the entire engine. Yeah guys this engine looks super clean. We did like a kind of light polished job to kind of clean up everything kind of a bummer there's some like kind of rust spots like little indentations.

We can knock, it out, doesn't make sense. It's aluminum, but polishing. All the anodized aluminum stuff turned out amazing. So, like you can see that's before polishing, that's after I mean I can't even focus on this, or should I mean it looks like Chrome so that against the green on the court, it's going to look real nice, so little interruption for the painting bit.
We actually just picked up this Sachs km. 48. 10 horsepower rotary. This thing is only like 160 CCS, so it's super small.

So, what's the future plans for this thing, this is actually gon na, go on a racing kart frame and in the future we're playing a turbo in it, since it's a little bit less rare than a rotary okay. So in between coats, we're just giving a little wets in to help the paint be a little bit smoother since there's plastic got a lot of scratches one more coat and then all the classes will be done. We just finished up hanging all our green pails and stuff like that. They looking really good so continuing with the 787b library we're gon na go with the gold rinse with a little aluminum rim around the outside.

We've done this before on a couple other parts, and it looks so good. Let's get this done, all the green done and we just taped off our renowned library diamonds. So now all we have to do is paint or work yeah that I'm good, where I think we're gon na paint the inside of that little girl, black yeah and and yeah. These are looking good, okay, so we're finally done with all the orange.

So now we just need you, the white pinstripes. Here's the last one for this piece is you're. Pretty convenient they'll cover up all our little mistakes. It looks killer.

Yeah read some trouble with the middle piece, but that's pretty clean, especially from the distance, and when we have the bbr on the front yeah, that's a 2k clear. I think this is gon na be actually you might learn. It looks pretty sick. I'd like this to be 30 letters - and you can see the library Mecca - it's really late at night, basically grinding on these panels all day long, but they look really good.

I like them a lot. They look amazing on camera, but I'm gon na tell you guys. To be honest, it really looks like it's hand-painted, because it is how much we can do about that. I would love to like custom order, much stickers and stuff, but with the budget of the entire cart being way out of whack already.

This is gon na have to do, and I think it's really cool that's some character, so this could be the first time we're attempting to use this. This is 2k automotive primer, then you're pushing this little tap and that mixes in the basically the hardener. So I got about two days to work with this stuff, except I'm pretty sure I'm gon na use it all on these body panels here so we'll get a nice little before-and-after and see if there's two Kenny Powers worth the money because it's kind of expensive, but If it gives you a really glossy coat, I could see a lot of goecart people really getting behind this stuff. First, impressions of this it is freaking awesome.

I mean, like that's, not hard to actually show like the glossiness in this direct light. I'm gon na sit there. I don't know it looks freakin killer. So that's awesome.

Look some bad news, not the paint job, though the good news is all the outside pieces turned out really nice. The only exception is the literally broke of the car. Like I mean from here, it's beautiful, perfect, but y'all see how scary that is. I just had a horrible reaction and just bubbled up.
This is perfect. These side pieces really nice, if you guys, can put them in the comments. What causes spray paint to kind of react like this and really help us out, because we've been battling back this whole time, but it like step back to here. Can you tell so honestly if we're willing to go car at the end of the day so like this is incredible? I can't wait to see how it looks on art, gold and rose so tomorrow and reassembling, but this is a win for today.

Okay, guys huge transformation here the car looks amazing. We got a bunch of different colors going on here. The kind of like aluminum look looks really good with the gold and the green. So, basically we're going to finish up assembling this, and then we can throw all our classics.

So what y'all think we absolutely love it? A ton of time went into this thing. There were some bummers with like paint flaking up a little bit and stuff, but just to go hard at the end of the day, and it looks amazing. So thank you guys for the suggestions. I know a lot of you guys in the comments re stoked see the 77b library if you've never heard of the car.

What do you guys think of the color scheme just kind of an unbiased way? I think it looks super seventies, really cool anyways. Thank you. Go Powersports all the parts on this thing are from go power sports pretty much. Thank you DG.

We have the DG muffler on this thing. That brings me the next video you're gon na hear this thing scream we're probably gon na end up going to Mexico. Do some rippin so stay tuned for that? Thank you guys for watching be sure to subscribe. You.

Coming from a die-hard 787 & 767 fan, the livery is not spot on, but it's the main design. So shut up with the "iTs nOt RiGhT" and "YoU aRe BaD aT pAiNtInG" comments. Go play Forza and shut up if you make these kind of comments. How do you think you can make a full livery on a KART? the internet is such a dissapointment rn.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Doug G says:

Fisheye. Always use de wax before painting. Also spraying clear too soon or incompatible rattle can paint with 2k clear

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars PowerOf One says:

Plastics and fibreglass are often problematic with paint reacting like that. It is always best to put an Epoxy primer mixed with an activator/hardener then also add about 10% urethane reducer to prevent any orange peel. This will neutralise the plastics and give you a trouble free foundation for any top coat colour you choose to put on bet it acrylic or enamel.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Daywalt says:

wte sanding means your sand a wet part water soaked part with like 3000 grit paper

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars elesjuan says:

aww man… This thing does look REALLY good! In the unlikely event you guys see this… Let me know in the future if you need some stickers. I have a vinyl cutter and will give you guys the hookup if you pay for materials!!!

I like the theme, paint job came out good but that damn pin stripe job irritates the heck out of me (not like I can do better) but that’s just my ocd talking. Overall good end product

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donny The Dealer says:

Love those little km48's. Mine hates having no back pressure though so just make sure when you guys chuck an exhaust on it, don't make it too high flow👍 they sound amazing with a decent exhaust on them

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Darrell Gabbard says:

next engine rebuild take the engine cases and get them vapor honed(wet blasting) to clean them up to make it look new.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tommy yoboi says:

Before you did anything to the cart it looked like a pw50 go kart

787B is hands down one of my favorite '70's prototype cars. So cool to see the livery honored on a legit rotary powered racing cart. Can't wait to see it ripping now that it's complete. Great work!

Once the clear dries maybe apply a couple more thick coats and then "color sand" it smooth using #1200 and finer wet sand paper…polish to PERFECTION!!

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars J.A.Ratt85 says:

The paint issue is from the oils on your skin when you were striping it. You need to get a can of degreaser from your local paint shop (don't use engine degreaser). Dust can do the same thing to an extent but having watch where you had your hands and where the fish eyes, as we call it, popped up, that's definitely the problem. (I took autobody and paint in college)

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars david gustafsson says:

Krinkling comes from laying too heavy coats too fast, it dissolves the base paint.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars guillermo velasco says:

That paint reaction is between the paint and the oil in your fingers. Before painting you need to decrease the parts. Pd: vinegar is a very cheap natural degreaser

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars max anstine says:

You guys should put a removable hub on the steering wheel so you don't have to squeeze your leg between the wheel and shifter.
    Paint looks sick!

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jetry says:

Flaking or bubbling can be caused by a dirty surface area, did you use any wax and grease remover before applying? I'm guessing the front pod would cop alot of oil from its previous life ( tailing other karts)

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shaun Hensley says:

I took my old Sims Christian Hosoi skate deck and changed the rising sun logo to the same orange/green…so yeah

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joshua Colon says:

Awesome work guys and also where did y'all buy the engine from

Looks amazing. But Livery is pronounced "Li•vr•ee"

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brandon Luxton says:

As a karting legend you have my seal of approval 😉 now build another one and lets go racing. ps vinyl wrap is the way to go on plastics.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brian Janssen says:

Different types of paint and didn't let the paint cure before applying clear. Every type of aerosol paint will expel fumes for awhile after being applied. patience is key to a great result.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ewan Dixon says:

I think body work in go carts looks bad I like the bare look of the frame

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars pancudowny says:

You boys need to polish and paint that engine/trans case… then it'll look "champion".😉

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cole Meyers says:

That reaction is from either clear coating the pint too soon or too late where it’s not completely dry

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars S Lewis says:

Good job, you built , you enjoyed ,and i enjoyed watching !

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Russell Booth says:

That paint can craze or blister up like that if either there is oil from your hands for example on the surface of where it has been painted ,meaning the surface should've been cleaned with prepwash or grease & wax remover.

Another factor is low temperature, if you spray painted during the night & the temperature dropped while the paint dried, that can also have something to do with that.

I try painting in a 25-30°C day, painting on a blistering hot 40°C day may have the same effect if painting outside in the sun,it would cause the paint to shrink & crack, just like buffing acrylic paint before it has cured !

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason says:

Silicon residue will cause paint to bubble, even after washing the surface down with Prepsol or thinners, it can still do it

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars epoxeclipse says:

787B Was a monster machine. This is acceptable. Aslo middle finger to mazda for not making the 787B into something more than it was, too limited production and race time.
