Rotary Shifter Go Kart build starts now!
In this video we show you guys our ultra rare 1975 KC27 rotary motor found in the Hercules W2000 Motorcycle. This is a 5 speed 294cc rotary motor with close to 30 bhp. In order to get it running, we had to completely disassemble the motor and take apart the entire rotor assembly to rebuild the rotary motor. This rotary go cart uses an engine similar to the artic cat 303cc rotary snow mobile so we think that we are going to be able to buy side seals from that to get this thing running. This is going to be one cool shifter go kart build!
Stay tuned for the next video of this thing where we completely rebuild this engine!

I have the same W2000, its easy to pull the front off the engine to get to the rotor without pulling the engine out just work from the front to the back. My 1,400 mile engine was same as yours no marks on the internal surfaces but all my seals were free. I can see your rotor has had the drive gear welded secure, this is a mod to stop the drive gear coming loose. My rotor was fairly grubby so i cleaned most off and the engine runs that hot it cleaned the rest off when run up. Great little engine.

Did you guys finally get this running? I used to own a W-2000 and in 1981 I replaced the apex and side seals with the Arctic Cat versions (which was the only choice I had because the Hercules were unavailable by that time) and they fit perfectly. The bike still ran when I sold it in 1987.

I would probably pick up a Wrecked RX-7 with a working engine, and and Build a Gokart from there

Man that's a very rare approximately 16 to 1800 ever manufactured Wankel rotary motorcycle engine from a 75 to 76 Hercules which then the machinery was sold to Norton which manufactured arctic cat , sachs Rotary Wankel motor. Worth a pretty penny know people to pay up to 7k for a mint running on but they are hard to find parts for very cool you guys are doing a build keep up the good work

First video I have ever watched on your channel if it’s good I might have some binge watching to do.

I own the Hercules W2000 motorcycle this engine came from. You can see my comparison to the Suzuki RE5 at "Wankel Wars" Kirby Cramer on YouTube. They run Pre-mix at 25:1 , a lot of oil. My Hercules kick starts easily. Great video guys, especially nice to see you experimenting instead of playing video games!

I know I'm late to see this video. You could have tried an ultrasonic cleaner to soak the rotor in to break lose the side seals. Could have used carb cleaner that is sold in 1 gallon cans you can get from an auto parts store.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Langdell says:

Wow man a rotary engine. Read about these things in shop class 30 years ago. Never had the chance to see these taken apart.
    Thanks for the education.

no saben un carajo de mecanica… practicamente pudieron haber arruinado el motor…

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Javier Cerrano says:

i've suffered so much watching this, they dont know how to handle something so weird and special… this is how great things get ruined…

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Build Break Repeat says:

Check out our Instagram to see this thing running for the first time! @build.break.repeat

Also, we need your guys help. The only way we can get it running is if we can spin it really fast with a drill because the stock starter is dead. The motor does have a kick start but we can’t get it turned over fast enough to get it running. Is this typical for a rotary, I’ve seen on some rx8 forums that they will not start unless turned over with a high voltage starter. Let us know what y’all think!
