In this video we pick up a donated go kart from an awesome subscriber! He bought this thing on ebay and never got a chance to work on it. He wanted to see it driven and built into an awesome project so he decided to give it to us! The go cart was in really good shape although it needed some work mechanically to get it running. We began with rebuilding the go kart starter and we were able to get it to turn over. After some troubleshooting for fuel and spark we got it running for the first time in many years! We then took it for its first rip and had a ton of fun!
Thank you guys for watching and be sure to subscribe and stay tuned for the video of this thing ripping at the track!

Okay, guys, we just picked up another 100 CC racing cart yeah. We got it from a subscriber of ours. His name is TJ super nice guy. He just gave it to us so really exciting.

You started on this thing. Okay, so all we need to do is really just get it running, fix it up a bit and start driving it. Let's get started okay with a sixth and really good for storage reconvene Ian, so we already just connected the battery last night and charged it up overnight and amazingly. This thing did hold the charge it's at, like twelve point: nine volts right now so fingers crossed and which is like crank over.

So let's see okay well, so we definitely were problem somewhere between this and the starter. Yeah, that's surprised, but this this engine does seem like is equipped with some sort of charging system yeah. So I mean it's got like this like gauge cluster, and all of that this is a really sick setup. So I guess now we can try to do.

Is jumpstart the starter and see if the starter works all right? Well, okay! So there's something wrong with the starter. I guess yeah. Let me try it on Bolton, guys test it I'll, just take it off and look at it from there. Okay, it's all in Bolton! Yeah, so you can get this little guy on the bench and test it.

Yeah. Oh dude looks like the Statue of Liberty dude this thing's not gon na there's like metal shavings on the inside and rust and corrosion surprise. It got that bad yeah. That's a sheet! Huh no words: none of the rest of the cart is bad at all, but this thing's really good hi.

Sorry. What do you wan na do? Try saying it yeah, I'm just gon na for the heck of it I'll, try and like clean it up, but we're probably gon na order a new one. So the brushes are super super worn, but there is there's some left, so it probably should still work. I got the gut them, both uncie's, very greasy in there, but so once we got one spring, but on the other side there is none to be found.

I kind of found like one coil and that's about it. So I just took a pen spring and I'm gon na cut it down to size and hopefully that work yeah, there's nothing. You have no way. Yeah a pen Springs right that all right they say so.

Yeah pen Springs and just a little bit of D, rusting we're good okay, so because this is a two-stroke we're going to just try to fill it with. So I just put a little oil in the cylinder before we get started just so. It's not! You know. Just so we're not cranking it over dry, because that fuel is the source of boiling.

Here goes nothing yeah! Okay! I guess we should put this on a stand, but it works. Yeah dang, I got torque yeah he's strong, okay guys, so something that's kind of weird that we notice when we're cranking it over is that the clutch is engaged and we looked inside of there and it doesn't even look like a clutch. I guess teeth on it, which connect to the starter. So I don't understand that.

Maybe this is like a you start rolling and then you're bracing, so hopefully not says it's a little jumpy because of all the compression this engine has but works pretty well yeah. So, unfortunately, this gas tank has a huge crack in it, but we're going to take it out. We have all the gas tanks. We can use just a test.
Quadruple zip-tie, you go double yeah yeah. We don't mess around no hack stuff feel okay. Thank you. Usually the filter have fuel um.

Should we just try and start okay? One thing we have no idea. If this thing a spark or not, so we should probably check that. Well, yeah, it's not really sparking um. One thing about the plug is that it did have like some corrosion on the tip is a little green at the tips.

So maybe we can just try another spark plug and see if that works. Oh, no, nothing! Okay, yeah! We got ta go through the coil and the wiring and all that okay, so we finally solved the issue of no spark. We took apart pretty much everything on this. On the electric system.

Looked at everything we tested the coil, we tested the stator. Everything seemed alright, but what the actual problem was, we did search a couple forums and we found out that sometimes just a starter motor is not towing. It fast enough to get the spark. So when we put drill in there and spun it pretty fast sparks really well, so now we're gon na get some fuel to it and see if it runs really fast.

This drill, tutors are better explained to you. Burke, let's try it again. This is like way faster yeah. She works yeah.

It sounds really good, definitely into a little cartoon. It does want to die, but yeah solid, all right man, that's gon na kind of hard to start, though yeah. That's disappointing. That's a lot of drill power.

I need a ride. Your only place to be about. Let's go, that's a window, hey guys, so we got it running. It sounds amazing, but we actually don't know for sure what the displacement of this engine is could be.

A 60 could be an 85 or it could be a hundred. So we really don't know, there's not that many identification numbers on this thing. We did a lot of searching. We asked you guys on Instagram.

No one really knows what the heck. This thing is. So if you have got one of these in your basement or something - and you know what it is, let us know all right guys you get air in the tires everything's tightened down. So let's go see this thing dry back to our developing neighborhood days.

We actually did get a membership to an actual race track. So if you want to see this thing on a track, hopefully I mean hopefully it drives good and stuff, but if you want to see it in a track be sure to subscribe, but for now let's just drive it here. We want to break it Inc the tracks about an hour away, so let's take it somewhere, local see how it drives. I don't mean take it to the track.

Okay, so there is, the clutch does not work on this thing. We don't really want to take it apart. We have a feeling it's going to either free up or there actually isn't a clutch. We really don't know that much about this engine, it's kind of hard to figure out and we don't.
We got it running and stuff and we just want to drive it. So hopefully the clutch breeze or it might not even have a clutch. It might just be a roll in your racing kind of thing, but let's drive it okay, so you probably will get to see it on the GoPro. I like taps when the breaks this thing just up completely did a 180.

If you can see the tires, it kind of like almost melted looking, so I'm assuming once we kind of get that layer off when we get down to like the normal tire, we shouldn't have that types of problems. Well, yeah, I mean it's pretty fast, actually really feel like 80 100 they're kinda yeah, pretty similar. We do need to do some carb tuning. I, if I hold it forward it bottoms they're, like bogs down at the top end, but if I bring it back a little bit, it goes faster, so don't be a sure yeah.

I think so cool doing good, though all right you man, definitely brings me back to the good old two-stroke days. Y'All. Oh geez remember: the Katy won hundreds and all that we love these things, so I'm excited to finally get one of these out to a track and really tune it yeah, it's really fun. It's kind of like the old Katie's, maybe a little less power.

I tried a little bit of tuning, but I do kind. I think we should go on some forums figure out exactly what we're doing but yeah once we call this stuff off the tires. It's like actually pretty grippy. Right now I mean once I kind of warmed.

It up like wiggled the wheel back and forth after I did that I didn't spin out anymore super fun. It's not really nice to be getting back into like a normal engineered racing card again, so everyone yeah and I it definitely sounded like it turned up more towards the end like your ending was definitely helping like it was hitting. 12 are 12,000 rpm and just kind of stopping there, so I'm guessing that's, probably a safe rpm can't go any higher yeah yeah yeah, so the micron seems like it's giving you good rpm yeah I mean all we get is rpm up in the top right corner And then I mean it's got temp until the edge low temp, yes temp and speed, but we don't have either of those. So, okay, I feels like two-stroke, pretty good.

I mean just keeps going. It's nice baby feels very solid and reliable new grippy yank good grip. Nice engine runs well the faster slower than Katie it's hard to say I would say about even been a while, since I flew the Katie's but yeah it actually uh when she's getting that upper at high end, you get the power band. Is everybody gets pretty happy sweet, I'm gon na rip it now huh, okay, guys yeah! I haven't had that much fun in such a long time since I last katie's.

I really just want you like you're kind of grasping for more and that's why I'm really excited to actually get on a track. So I'm always like in the back of my head looking for cars and stuff and like if I could really just get in the zone and kind of have as much fun as possible out of track. I think that'd be so fun so with that being said, thank you TJ. None of this would be definitely not be possible without you donating us this car, I hope you're glad that we got it running.
We're certainly glad we got it running. So thank you. Go Powersports. Thank all of you guys for watching see you next time.

I'd think it's a dirt track kart that someone put slicks on to run at a track. not super uncommon for dirt track karts to have no clutch.

I have both the KT 100 AND A K 71 the heads are different. The head you have looks like the K 71

You cAn find the Manual for it on line By searching the motor brand IMAE And the numbers that are below the magneto are the motor identification numbers and will tell you what size and what kind. If you havenโ€™t already gotten the answers

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Christopher Muddiman says:

End it looks like itโ€™s on a shifter kart frame like the one I have! Awesome little kart!

I got one of those, Iโ€™m about to start restoring it, and it is a 150cc 2 stroke engine!

So I know Iโ€™m a little late, but itโ€™s probably a 100cc judging by it being a straight drive. Kinda strange it doesnโ€™t have a clutch, most of the straight drive stuff has centrifugal clutch.

My first thought was that the engine looked similar to the very popular IAME KA100 engine. However, after doing some quick research it looks like it might actually be an IAME Komet KFS 100cc engine, which was apparently built for the French market. If you go to the IAME Engines (international) website you can find a manual for the engine in PDF format. Unfortunately it's in French but it has a lot of photos and diagrams. There's a few things that stand out from the manual, including the starter box with red and green buttons (different in appearance than the KA100 starter), red spark plug cap, blue colored coil, and silver-ish/grey head (as opposed to the black colored head on the KA100). You may need google translate but IAME manuals typically give recommended carb adjustment settings and instructions.

    You donโ€™t know the displacement .. measure the cylinder. Itโ€™s a simple math . V=3.14โ€ขradius squared โ€ขheight

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ken franklen says:

I've seen carts like that where you just have to bump start them every time, it might just be a direct drive

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Iacopo Benedetto says:

itโ€™s a Biesse Kart, i have no clue of how it ended in the us since itโ€™s an italian brand

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars LoveRacing_1979 says:

It doesn't have a clutch. It's a direct drive 2 stroke engine. Looks nice guys!

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jd_railfan says:

If you haven't done so i would recommend fixing/replacing the clutch. if it is always engaged, it will wear out the brakes very quickly and quite possibly at the wrong time. Have the new starter ready to go because when the clutch is not engaged, push start will not work.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bentley Adams says:

Itโ€™s a KPV 2 (100cc), the clutch will not free one of the springs on the inside of it is broken. I used to race the same setup but now I race a a different Motor. I have 2 in my garage not just one.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shinuza San says:

Look at the chassis homologation number. Than do a such on the FIA's website, you'll know which class this belongs to, there's a good chance the motor is matching the requirements for that class. Otherwise, if you only care about the displacement you can measure the bore and stroke and do maths ๐Ÿ™‚

Free??? Wtf!!! I can't even find anything for under $250 that actually has an engine!

In all honesty, you'd rather have it a little fat at the top end rather than lean, lest you burn it down…

Those karts and engine you adjust on the fly low end top end about half turn as youโ€™re racing we did that on kt 100 Yamaha
