Hi, It's German Freakin Solar Roadways time. Yes again. Third video in last four videos. This is insane.

Every time I Do a new Solar Roadways video. Somebody points out some new project I haven't seen some new fire, some new news? Whatever. We just have to keep on covering this because it's hilarious. Anyway, long-standing Eevblog forum member Frank Buss who's from Germany pointed out this German Solar freakin' Roadways and it was a spoiler alert.

sorry and we'll get into what happened to it Anyway, here it is. It's the sole move. let's get into it. Oh look, its award-winning The Smart Green Award 2018.

Oh, look at all these awards. Drive On the Street of the Future. Build Smart Solar Rosa Can supply electric client cars with clean power and information. Power generation and inductive charging with solar roads.

Sol Streets are the sustainable answer to the untapped potentials. roads, railways, and park railways. Well, that's new. Our flexible solar modules can produce large amounts of clean energy on horizontal services.

save 100 percent Co2. Yeah, what amount of embodied energy went into manufacturing these things? Where did the energy come from? Thank you very much. That can enable a mobility without an inductive charging technology. We'll look at the technical.

Why do solar roads make sense using the existing services? Solar Streets in able to fold use of existing services as traffic router. We've heard it all before and conventional in your energy, blah blah blah. Finance road construction L Stable photovoltaic modules can revolutionize road construction. Hundreds of years of road construction technology.

We're just gonna revolutionize it overnight with these things. Yeah, Ok, we'll see. there is that was shortly that can be used directly or fitter than the grid for a feed-in tariff. With the money, municipalities can refinance the modernization of roads.

Yeah, just like the French one. Yeah, just like the solar freaking roadways in the US Just like the the Netherlands one that they all produced like novel energy and it just start fall off a cliff Once the things got dirty and damaged. it's unbelievable. Germany Alone horizonal suitable for solar roads.

Only 1400 square kilometres is square kilometres right? Okay, yeah of horizontal services. sooner for solarites could supply to 20 million cars. Wow. You can power 20 million electric cars.

You want to run the numbers on that I Couldn't be bothered. This is just gonna be a single take. Video reach climate limits. Yeah blah blah blah.

Okay, our concept is recognized. It's recognized by everyone. Innovation Press. Oh yeah.

the smart genius genius, genius idea. Uh yeah, they laughed at the Wright brothers. Yep, it's been covered in the media. Well now it's covered in the eevblog.

You can add the look, you have my permission to add the little Eevblog logo and a link to this video. Good on your soul move. Let's have a look because it's obviously like it's gonna save the planet. and it's got inductive charging.
Lose one point four square meter tiles by the looks of it. The ones that we'll see later. the pilot installation that they did in late 2018 doesn't look like it uses tiles this big anyway. LED Lighting LED Lighting that they're doing the barouche or they've gone full brush or you never Bruce or sorry I Keep pronouncing that wrong I think it's Bruce or you never go full Bruce Or okay, just don't do it.

He did. He did. They've got doubling down on the full Bruce or inductive power transmission, grip and slip resistance. Easy construction, better noise absorption.

Well hope it's better than the French one minimum 20 years durability Wow You concrete Nashville Roads don't even last 20 years so we act these things. Yeah, they've got it licked. We're to use it Volt Street Its trademark Soul Walk. They didn't trademark that one.

Couldn't be bothered. Well, they run out of money. Yeah, they're 1.2 by 1.2 meters in size. Yeah, these ones you'll see later.

What about safety? Driving sir is absolutely safe and permanently possible. permanently possible. We'll see shortly. Thanks for the special service structure materials.

Our modules have excellent grip and breaking strength. Discharge of surface water is better than on conventional road surfaces really. The optimized glass service reduces drive. Well, you can sell this to the French This is great stuff.

DC Voltage is limited to 30 volts. Alright, what does is a micro inverter on each one or is each like they just keep them here I'm not sure what the deal is there. Anyway, already interested? No, we're not already interested? The benefits: I Haven't even look I Haven't looked at this cost-efficient plane yet. Nature-friendly Yeah, blah blah.

Our concept. It's recognized again to recognize by Inno Truck. It's it's got to be legit Media: I'm sure they got a media pack and I just meteor articles translate. couldn't be bothered.

And the team who's responsible for this malarkey diploma of Engineering founder and CEO good a Don and Dr.. Nicholas has experienced many years of experience in production in multinational companies. doesn't say what though. business develop Internet marketing.

Gotta have a marketing person. Absolutely. He's built two software companies. Well, you build two software companies.

You're obviously going to start a solar roadways company because that's what you do these days is so trendy. Strategic company and development and product development awesome. It's a surface slippery, especially when wet. What is the impact of dirt? do? It may reduce electricity generation.

You think there are two different ways of cleaning? First of all, cleaning cleaning vehicles can just drive over them and keep the modules clean. So instead of putting them on pesky poles above their where, you know the rain will just like angle them and array. No, you know they keep reasonably clean. I've never cleaned mine on top of my roof and there's negligible difference really.
it's almost down in the noisy amount of energy that I lose from not having clean the modules on my home roof. My five, my three kilowatt installation. They're shown all the data on that anyway, as he's being done with conventional footpaths and robos. Oh it, they're being cleaned anyway.

So why not into special chemical properties of the module? The photo catalytic effect on the hydro fo be City of the glass surface. whatever that is by doping a glass surface with nanoparticles. I'm surprised there's no graphene. You've got to have graphene these days.

seriously. And where's the blockchain support? Where's the data? You know, where? Where's the distributed ledger technology? It's got every tile needs a distributed ledger processor. I Think In other words, if it's raining, the road will be cleaned. Will service become dull? under heavy? It's great.

A doll by Dauntless allowing less off. At least they admit it. He's different. Albert But it's different for these.

The special surface structure prevents the glass from becoming dull. It's special surface structure. Let's have a look at it later. How will salt and grit affect the surface? Salt disintegrates and reduces the freezing point with our diamonds.

Agreed On the other hand, but not in the air is most important for light transmission. so if you get grit, it doesn't affect the light at all. I've turned to salt and red air. organic corn cob granules.

That's new innovative by futures in In. in the corn industry, it's gonna boom. They appointed a Gradle It can be bought at no additional cost of what with snow flowers, damage to my highway. No, The bottom is made of metal is often assumed butters and but of synthetic materials which did not damage the surface.

What happens in case of an accident? Surface is made a safety glass that breaks into small fragments upon destruction, as do we need. In no danger from electric shocks, voltage and currents kept low. Yeah yeah, how much is electricity One square meter generates a hundred watts? Okay, so ten percent of efficient because the solar insolation not insulation insulation which is the amount of energy hitting the Earth's surface from the Sun Roughly a thousand watts per square meter is what we get on this planet. So they're getting they.

They're claiming ten percent for their flat tiles. there. There you go. That's I'm just not I'm gonna get not gonna run through the couch on the whiteboard every Chelsea Yeah, blah blah blah and differential.

Oh how does it differ? How do I differentiate it from all the other winning products? There are currently three more actors. yeah, us what way Solar Road Can't believe I Haven't heard of this one before. Three properties. First of all, from the bulky modules of solo heavy concrete shells Isola Road or the thin modules of what way are this one's just right? Just right.
Go on. as there. Goldilocks In the Goldilocks zone and solar roadways, the soul moves. Solar carpet can be here.

That's what it means that can be rolled out in sixteen service and ideally adapt to the ground underneath processes. Fast, flexible, reduced traffic obstructions that unlike the existing solutions, Road does not need to be torn up a second. So just lay it on your existing asphalt roads. Just just lay these tiles down.

No workers recycling capability. The panels can be taken off a bit like a hook and loop fastener, rolled up and then transferred into establish recycled processes. blah-blah-blah-blah-blah The final distinction resides in certain new glass layer. Everyone reckons they got the best.

The newest most innovative glass technology reduces shading because of abrasion and dirt to the extent the electricity yield is barely affected. Barely affected I'd love to get my hands on one. What has to be considered when selecting and which feeding options. Edgy.

How will the education of service Water: There are two different forms. one format is sealed, the bridge are closed and the water is educated, but it's translated so it's it's moved off the edge of the road. The ridges of the second format are left open for the water to seep our way between the modules for the self-cleaning is favorable to use the sealed ridges. Bicycle tires with spikes do damage to the surface.

So far is no been no endurance test, consider in front of spikes and damage the modules. How large is the dazzling effect when the Sun is lower under work and dazzling effect is comparable to conventional roads surface. In okay, this is fantastic. Anyway, we have a video.

let's go to the videotape shall we? It's in German so all my German viewers will understand this. I won't understand a word. You can get the gist the on the absolute impose under the Mann Act via cash spend at storms look glam wouldn't blink iced some Schmitz in high tariffs not abundance. all met minister and Svenja Schultz Harnetiaux company share with the ministers Mrs..

Berkley Kezia inovative Just going to say the planets in a video and when it's not ending I can do but a autos of Gilad Indiana about us is not to convince Mozzie Canet Solar in hands of evil mad scientist Paul Yaffe and Familia noise oh damn it I was Caiman and a further woman who are 4000 Austrian First test project in BAM they're not soon as projections in its yet evils to that he must nudge that siding does cool moon and all become storm here Oh understood in our talent I hope it's me and damaged after. forgive designer Lu Zhu whiter happy naturally - better Alfred he calmed inventor monitors Ibaka's act the photovoltaic and logic end when asked Latvian control inferred and / highest does / audit of inventor can China Ausrotten good nationalized us so got goons to gets terribly shove into Dean's dogs Amazon dusters or landscape or tear-stained Yep yeah these are William That's absolutely winning technology right there. Ah, doesn't get any better. so they are.
Obviously they're interconnected modules they must have. like the actual connection, let you plug them in and they interconnect so each one is an individual thing and they must put them with strings across. I Guess which has your 30 volt maximum or something? So I'm assuming now let's go have a look what happened. This was installed in I think it was November last year so it's like six months I don't know when when it actually failed or whatever.

I won't go into the details anyway. Frank Bus went and visited it. thank you very much Frank I Love when viewers go out and visit this. This is absolutely fantastic and wah-wah-wah-wah looks a bit closed.

Gosh darn it. And it looks like put blacktop over the whole thing because they don't want it to generate any power. because it's it. Could be dangerous because apparently the magic smoke escaped.

the magic smoke escaped, they modules melted or something like that. Anyway, Opening Yes. November 11th it opened. It is producing energy, but still nothing fed into the public.

grew because they forgot to submit some regulatory papers. About a month later, he'd finally failed so failed in March their God failed in March There's the local I will provide the link down below. You can go check it out. But basically is this the fail article Translate wait I haven't looked.

A fire brigade had to moving. They've gone through before Bruce or Isis Hilarious. We've gone through Oh Bruce or they the only thing they haven't done yet is shoveled the snow so they've got tarps on there and not only not feeding electricity back into the grid, it's also closed. The cyclist warning beacons block the approximately 90 meter long track.

at both ends. the modules have disappeared under plastic tarpaulin, so it's a oh, you got us sorry, you got to register All right. You could often just like google the the name of it you know, like the title or whatever and Google will get through the firewalls on these things often. But anyway, yeah, apparently they called the Fire Brigade there was smoke coming out of them, the modules melted and yeah, oops because I presume like water got bit tween them or they were bad connections or something like that.

and yet they just heat it up and they melded them between the modules as it looks today. So yeah, August 6 I've got. for those who don't know, my plug-in to do this is army ingress. Oh, it's rotated in there.

Yeah. I've got a plug-in which when I move my mouse over stuff you can program it and I auto like loads up images. All that plays videos and stuff. It's really quite cool and he's always a peek under the top.
Look at this, the mud and crap embedded in there. Oh this is ridiculous. It says this is really a joke. You can't even see the salt, Well, you'll be able to.

Actually, you can. You can see the solar cell structure lines in here. We'll see this better. We'll see this closer up shortly.

These are real, thank you very much. Frank These are real high-res images. So I'm sure you can get the originals. That's the weeds growing between this one.

Start the spout. Go go. your little beauty. We cover this I Love it Here we got.

Look, it's just. it's a complete and epic fail. I Don't know what the Dailies here like. They had solar on the top, so I'm not sure how they stood right.

Know how they interconnect? I Soon is some sort of some sort of connection system under there, but anyway, they've got like a silicon grout between them. Looks it looks like they're just sort of laying on the surface. Are they kind of. Or is that a base material down there? Anyway, you can actually see in here.

Looks awful with all the dirt. I Think the solar cells are only between the bumps. As you can see here, you can see the solar cell structure on the side. They do.

Yeah, they're not on top of the bumps so they're like they fold back on the side of the bump there. That's really interesting. This would mean that nearly no power is generated if is getting dirty. cuz the yeah, the dirt will get.

This is genius. The dirt will get between the little, the raised lumpy parts and that's where the solar panels are. This is next level. Bruce Or genius.

Really? this is. ah. this is fantastic. In the distance, some wind turbines in the distance.

this is generating half a fifteenth of energy. I Don't think there are solar cells mounted on the roads? Well whoa. nice. some some solar freakin' railway station ruse.

Yes, why not put them on there? Awesome. Thank you very much. Frank Okay, so it looks like they screwed down. Look, see and see.

this. they're screwed. I Got five screws in there. They're screwed in more than one way.

anyway. Yeah, so each one each one screwed down to what though? do they like? There's no like concrete base under there really is there. They said they can just lay them on top of existing services. So yeah, I'm not sure the exact details.

If you've got more details, please leave it in the comments or on the forums thread Here Looks like the tar snake and apparently they got the labeling wrong. Power Generation this year in kilowatts per hour? Yes, like the slash kilowatts slash hour, not kilowatt hours. So they got it. Got it wrong.

Did they? oops? Anyway, thank you very much Frank for standing for going on site and documenting the it's absolutely hilarious. So yeah, yet another epic solar roadways fail and they're all gonna end up like this. Look at this roof. Look at all that roof space.
This roof space alone could have generated more power than this entire section here and you really wouldn't have had to even clean it. And it would have last 15 20 years And and be dirt cheap because it's like existing technology like it's just it's dumb. Really, it's dumb. So let me get this straight.

This Soul Move company decides to do solar freakin' Roadways years after the Bruce Awes one is like already epically failed in many ways and they decide to make these small modules that you have to interconnect so automatically. you've introduced an interconnection engineering problem with the losses and the and the potential failure points at all those areas. and then you decide to put the little knobby nodules on top. and then you try and claim that it's somehow reduces noise and then you try and claim that's got a 20 year lifespan when I only lasted a month in practice before it caught on fire and then you claim it's self-cleaning because it's got nano particles and the water can go between the modules where the connections have to be.

Yeah, we need idea I mean a better idea is actually solar roof tiles. I've done a video on Elon Musk's solar roof tiles. He wasn't the only one to do that, but that industry failed presumably because not because they didn't last. I Think there you know there would have been quite reasonable about because you've got the huge interconnection problem of of all these tiles on the roof and then like wow, you're just adding so much complexity and potential points of fire and everything else and it's a much right Here you're expanding the engineering solution required for no real reason or gain at all.

and then and instead of putting them on the roof, you want to put them flat and then drive stuff on it. Fail with bikes and/or just failed on its own really. And like with the nodules on top with the dirt that compacts between, it's genius. Absolutely genius.

Like the delusion of the human race never ceases to amaze you. How many times do I have to say anyway I can't help but pass on new solar roadways information because it's the Lowell that keeps on giving. So that is all move. German Freaking railways and they'll probably I don't know if there was government funding I Assume because the ministers turned out that it was somehow government funded as they almost all are.

why isn't the website working the websites down must be powered from their own soul movement? Anyway, that's brilliant. They went full Bruce Or and fire trucks and everything so that's a winner. Winner chicken dinner. I Feel like the video? Please give it a big thumbs up.

Share it all that sort of stuff because YouTube doesn't share things a lot anymore. It's not a very sharing care in You Tube as in you, it's corporate tube these days anyway. Hope you liked it. Catch you next time.

Quick question: WHY. THE. censor bleep because of curse word ARE. WE. NO. FUNDING. MORE. OF. THESE?!!!

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bear McHoneypots says:

Why ROADS, though? Is it because it’s an existing surface, numerous and universal? Because if the thought is “we already need roads, lets save money and build solar panels THERE” then it’s silly. Solar panels ALONE are expensive, adding them INTO other things is MORE expensive. Even roofs arent perfect NOR cheaper. We have the empty space, might as well build them to face the sun, and in sunny places.

I just don’t get why the obsession in inserting solar panels everywhere. Space isnt the limiting factor, and if it was, roads are such a bad place to use. I like the parking lot chargers with solar panels. You get shade for cars AND get some energy. Otherwise, why ROADS?! JUST PLACE EM IN OPEN SPACE! You’ll save money AND get more energy…

    Next up, Solar Airways!

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars General Jack Ripper says:

It's alright. They got paid and that's all they care about. Even the Germans can get scammed.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars antid0te says:

The nanoparticles mentioned on their website are an actual thing. You can buy highly heat and wear resistant photocatalytic coatings based on TiO2 nanoparticles that make almost every surface self-cleaning or even self-sterilizing. Even small airborne particles basically just fall off coated surfaces because the first layers of atoms at the interface are being broken down. TiO2 nanoparticles are often mixed into interior wall paints to improve air quality or used to coat facades in highly polluted environments. But they also work really well on glass, especially outdoors. These coatings have been on the market for some years. I think Ben from Applied Science made a video about photocatalysis.

I know I am terribly late to the conversation… but what is the “establisher recycling process” for solar panels?
Because as far as I know, you need huge amount of energy to recycle those. Almost negating the amount of power the panel generated over its lifespan…
But what do I know, I only work in nuclear.

In Korea they put a roof with solar cells above their bicycle road and it works.

I know that this is a bad Idea, but… What about solar freakin' RAILways? Trains only ride on the rails, leaving the rest of their space's surface unused, dont jam and the only damafe they can sustain is the ocasional debri being droped from the train or a derailment.

Ve Tschörmans know better! Ve are svitching off all our power stations to säve ze polar bears – of course ve believe in Solar Friggin Roadways! Ve also believe that 33.000 wind turbines and farmland covered silicon wafers will power our highly industrialized country. Well, it's 2021 now and we realized that they will not – especially not in winter or in the dark and with no wind blowing… So, yes, if there is ONE nation mentally retarded enough to believe that solar roadways could work, it's us, JAWOHL!

the only problem in this topic are ignorant politicians, wasting other people's money. a commercial company would

Politicians do not pay tax, so when they spend money on stupid projects, they do not spend their money.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hans-Joachim Bierwirth says:

As usual, reading out every sentence, not researching anything. Judex is a criminal, who patented the internet. No one paid ofc. He claims that all German roofs are full of solar panels. He also claims that his panels are self cleaning. They are not. His bullshit is supported by nearly all German universities. It is hopeless.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Damn!Daniel says:

Having taken several classes on innovations management on german universities, I can asure you, Dave won't run out of topics for his videos.

There are so many people in those classes that have not the slightest idea about natural science or engineering. So many of those award winning "awesome" ideas are just "indiegogo" mock-up bullshit.
The worst thing is… as soon as you try to convince them that those things are not going to work, you're the bad guy that's not "creative".
Thank you very much. I've got better things to do … like commenting on 8 month old videos sarcasm smiley
