Check it out! I'm at Corned Beef Slot Cars which holds the national championships every four years and it's pretty cool. They got two circuits here so we'll throw your slot car aficionados and I'll try and get some There we go if it does, especially to my farm. I'm sure. Wow There we go.

Terrific! And yeah, I just got much of a teardown to do, but maybe I can show you there's a little bit of wiring under here. serve a squeeze. There we go. These are Ollie these are the junctions for the different.

sorry it's really dark under here. that's the various. So they got the four main bus firewire and it comes in and they split it off Well one gun flew off the track and the it's like got a mesh mesh type and like a braided thing. This one looks so actually different.

I'm not sure why that one looks different to the others. What's short the deal with you but it's very cool. Lost lot cars I'm gonna have a go myself soon. So terrific! We're gonna have a look at have a look at some cars over here.

Here we go bottom of some cars. so I just got the the contact is there I'm not sure the correct name. They'd be properly weighted of course so the back ends don't slide out. I Don't know where you slot car aficionados let us know, but there's not much weight in those.

let me tell you and you don't want much weight either. So yeah, it's not much keeping the back end sliding off there really. But yes there, it's just a matter of waiting them properly and whatnot. So anyway I won't pretend to know much love cars so this is great fun.

And I got like scoreboard system and everything. Yeah, as I said, they do hold the national championship here every four years and there is no standardization for the tracks. By the way, they just stop there. Simply everyone's different.

Every tracks different so you have to adapt to the conditions of whatever track you doing your championship race on. But anyway, it's great fun. So let us know in the comments if you're into slot cars and I'm not sure how long this track is, but it's very impressive. I like it.

I'm not sure if it's one of the bigger it'd probably be. it might be the biggest in Sydney I'm not sure it's like the main one. It's where they held the national championships, so yeah. anyway, very cool.

All right. it's a little bit quieter. that's their time in computer. I've been a well, that's their display readout.

no GU You don't know they've grew on the tracks. no siree. Bob Once we lock our raceway there it is and I have been told that it is a custom a fully custom timing system on this thing. It was designed by the guy who built the track and Simon don't know his name but got a couple of to farad caps down there.

big once. well. I Teach fair, it's not that Big these days. but yeah.

I guess they here I guess they need that for when they accelerate. there are multiple. Not sure what that red box is down there. Is that the set? the mains supply? I don't know that probably charges the batteries.
These are all the they look like a let us and batteries? Yep. Thousand amps. Yep, that's the charger here. Oh Like I tend down to six so it works.

And the caps. These super caps the two farad caps and they've work as well. right? 1.8 seconds, 1.8 seconds. What's the total length of the track? 186 feet? There you go.

A hundred eighty six feet one night. Sick. That's crazy. Anyway, yeah, thousand amps.

let's go under and check it out so hopefully you can see that's a bit how you doing in it. But yeah they've got the the feeders. the big red feed is coming in and then they go up to the they go up to the contacts that they do have multiple segments. you can see the large but oh yeah there we go.

There's a cable coming out and going into a big splitter there and then this runs out over to this side here this side of the track. so they've got multiple segments. we saw that in the previous video over on that side. So yeah, that's pretty damn quick to get your car around there.

And what did I say? 1.8 seconds for 180 feet of track or something? Who wants to do the math on that? But yeah, it's quite a bit Layout: It's really quite quite remarkable and very impressed. Yeah, as I said, there seems to be seems to be differences in the in the contacts here. at least of what I saw up the other end was different in this or in the previous video. Maybe not for this.

and this is the finish line. You can see the break in the finish line here, so the cars automatically stopped. of course. they take some of them go or take all the way to the bend up there before they actually physically stop and take a look that looks net link.slide Don't know if that's a commercial one as part of the custom.

that board on the back looks like it's a home. home edged so coupler. is it a D15 on there? A couple of D15. anyway.

I'm told what keeps these cars on the track? I'm sure a slot car aficionados know, but apparently they spray a like a grippy thing onto the track and they have to continually keep spraying that. Not sure how often, but they keep doing that and then just the rubber of the tires. plus the grippy nature of the of whatever it is they spray on there just keeps them on time. Cool? Well, unless you go too fast around the bends, that's for sure.

Now we've got a super fast special car. Joe Here is going to run this. He reckons he can do it in three seconds. Whoa.

Whoa. that's insane. That's insane. Apparently the record is like 1.8 seconds, but he reckons this will do it in about two seconds.

I Said sorry. This car can do about two point two seconds 189 feet track. So Kakadu so you can do the math on that. Wow, that is just crazy seeing that are only shooting 60 frames a second.

sorry 50 frames a second? So yeah. Wow Wow that's insane that come up on the screen I Don't know if there's a time on there because it's all well sort of do with the aerodynamics is that it's time up there. Three point, three point, two seconds a guy. Wait a guy.
Go. awesome. Learn tonight. Oh so you can seven to go Wow 3.2 seconds night.

and yeah, what's the record? 1 1.8 1.8 seconds, 35 seconds. Wow, that's crazy I Can go about two points another second faster Wow And that's all to do with the white and the era era. Join Any Yeah, so there'd be a trade-off between the weight and the grip, right? So yeah, what? I'm sayin. Good job man.

And is that a special controller you go to? Where is it a thousand, but control a special one too. Yeah, the guy's a bit like my car's about the same. A thousand bucks for the car. Can we have a look? Let's have a squiz that is out.

Well, there's nothing in that frame. It weighs absolutely nothing. That is remarkable. 600 bucks for the motor? Wow And it's an open frame motor too, so you'd have to really keep the dust and crap out of that as well.

Wow Are they real special? Yep. Normally they cut back right. Oh I Can trim them back? Yeah, okay. Oh, it's iffy.

They would interfere with each other and just go up right. Interesting. There's a lot of art in racing those. Thanks Joe Thanks.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Gong says:

We have a very similar track here in Modesto Ca. They call it a hill climb. I stopped racing about ten years ago but I still have my cars and conrollers. I have a winged car with a group 27 motor. Back then it was one step under an open. I'm going to go back and see if I still like it.

1.85 seconds how do they even see it at that sort of speed

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pat Stevenson says:

I spent a lot of my younger years here, 25+ years ago. Kept me out of mischief, also maccas next door was a treat. Sad to see it's gone.

Putting micro FPV cameras in these would SERIOUSLY increase the draw of new hobbyists racing with goggles would be a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT experience which would instantly put Everyone regardless of prior slotcar racing experience on a much more even level.

Wow that slot cars are really fast. And thanks for showing the power supplies with the big caps and batteries. I think this is important to avoid that the competitors influence each other with ripples in the supply voltage.

I’ve got two of those slot cars if anyone wants to give me 1k each I’d sell them.

,… driven by lazy drivers who've been fooling themselves for decades.

You have NO idea about how rear mounted engine cars drive.

You're wrong about weighting rear mounted engine cars.

The heavy weight IS the engine.

    IS your real name Pinochio?
I can SEE your nose growing larger.

1000 is cheap for that considering the biggest 2 lane ho scale afx track is almost 360dollars for 60.5feet of track it's a huge track. Alot of ppl spend 1000 easily onba nice 4lane ho track layout with scenery. Ok a grand for the slot car and 1000 for controler is rip off

    Trophies!
One race I paid to run in 3 different classes. I wound up hitting in 3rd place advanced and 1st place novice. They would only give me 1. Which one would you pick. I choose advanced class

There is a place like that close to where I live in nj. It is called the Speed Zone. I took my Carrera cars there one time for something(I can't remember off hand) but when I showed the guy there my car he said, "We don't run those cars here." "Ours are different." Then he put this car on the track and ran it. OMG! It took about 5 seconds for it to go around the track which is about the same size as the one in your video. The track takes up the whole place with a space for repairs and sales. If I had to guess scale speed, they would probably come close to the land speed record.

I had this slot car when I was little, at that time I bought it with my stepfather… In the 88's,,, the price used to be 150,000, now the price is 1.5 – 2.5 million, a fantastic price for a set of slot car toys

    Awesome fun.
    Only cost $200

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Schneider says:

When these cars first came out, we were running the light chassis and the hex motors.. with full winged bodies – but we still had the orange and blue rear tires

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars William CRAZY LACY Furmage says:

Do you notice when a tyco etc power pack is used on a 2 lane, that the power is used/shared on both controllers? zapping the power back and forth. I made a few tracks where I broke the connection and gave each lane its own power pack using 2 power connection tracks, I per lane, am I making since? 😛
