Hi just a quick blab video. I just got one of these Dji Pocket two, uh, stabilized little well, 4k uh pocket cameras. Actually, it does. 4k 60.

I mean, I was using it just for you know, a little bit and I was absolutely amazed by its performance and uh, features. It was really, uh, quite something. How do I get this out of here? This is just a protective case here. and uh yeah, I was just raving on Twitter about how absolutely amazing this thing is.

It's got a oh well look, I'll turn it off because I'm gonna have a rant. Um yeah, It's got a you know, stabilized gimbal thing and it's got all sorts of amazing features that you can record in 4k at 60 frames per second. It's got various follow up modes and tilt lock modes and track modes and face tracking modes. And and you can flip it around.

It's got a little screen on you can flip it around while you're actually using it. so you can like be walking and you can film straight ahead. Then you can like flip it around to, you know, record your face as you're um, doing. You know, great for like walk time rants and things like that.

I was absolutely like I was gonna rave about this thing, but uh, when I powered it up it, um said oh please, activate the thing and you've got five chances remaining to activate this thing. And I had the word skip on here as well. So I thought, oh okay, it's just going to nag me like five times to activate this Thing Uh, when I uh, you know, I power it up the first five times, it's just reminded me. after that, it'll be fine.

it'll just it won't nag me anymore. But now look, so I just ignored it, right? So I didn't want to download the app and uh, you know, registered this damn thing and now look. check it out. Dji Pocket.

Uh, not activated. Connect a phone and activate with Dji uh, Mimo app thing and um, apparently you can slide off this little um joystick thing and it comes with an an apple fruity um adapter and also a Usbc adapter like this. and you're supposed to plug the damn thing into your phone, Download the app to register it. Uh, before you can.

Actually, as I said, I was able to use it like five times and everything just worked fine and now it's just it's it's bricked, it's just locked me. I cannot get past this. um thing. it's just not.

You've got to activate this with the app and your phone. Uh, before you can like use the thing after five times. What a crock of what like evil is this. This is unbelievable.

Unbelievable. And um, I had a quick uh, read around. I think this might have been the same on the Dj the previous um, Osmo one they called it. this is the new Pocket.

Uh two, I believe it's You know, it's fairly recent. it's just come out and uh it's It's functionality is brilliant but this is evil. I now cannot use this thing but like the message before used to time out, this is just evil. I cannot use this thing at all unless I download their probably spyware app from the Bloody Chinese Communist Party and I like oh man this is just no bloody Ah unbelievable.
I got no option now but to download the app and register this thing before I can use it. Yeah, yeah, complain about that. You're done. Yeah, Bugger off.

everybody here complains about having to activate a device, but you all use phones and apps on them that have access to soooo much more info than this :)))
there is NO REAL PRIVACY if you own a phone, or a social media account 🙂 WE ARE THE COMMODITY, and you all know this, you just don't admit it to yourselves, because all of you want things you don't need….

YEP>>>>AGREE…..I bought this DJI pocket cam because GOPRO did the same thing. You have to pay a monthly fee to use their editing app so you can post your short video. So now my GOPRO Is a worthless piece of BULLSHIT so I buy the DJI…..and your right….just now had to register it and plug it into my data. They watch us. God is watching them.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Video Creation says:

Don't understand what the big deal is, why wouldn't you want to register when you can update to the latest firmware and other features you can use with the app. its a great little cam and no difference to the previous model i own as well as the pocket 2. Great bit of kit and very pleased with all my dji products. I would be more concerned about the built in battery than the registration procedures .

i am surprised not enough people realize this is a huge security and privacy risk.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lachlan Brown says:

I don’t get why this is such a big issue. All you need is an email address and password to make an account. The only reason you need to activate it for warranty purposes, you do it once and then it never needs activation again. Seriously what’s the problem?

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars I Fix It, Why Not says:

Wow I was going to buy one of these things, that would have annoyed to the point I would have returned it, and I rarely if ever return things.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars LBCAndrew says:

The only solution to problems like this and every other violation of privacy and erosion of rights would be to BAN the sale of peoples private information. This would absolutely crush these tech oligarchs who apparently think they have more power than the people we actually elect to govern us. I for one would much rather go back to paying for software than continue this endless subscription crap where you're spied on 24-7 and that data is then provided to the government due to it being a loophole in the 4th amendment.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars EJ Cookie says:

Hmmm. You have a choice. Return it for a refund or register it. It was in the documentation and packaging. While I don't like it either, it is the only way they protect their proprietary solutions (in their minds at this point) and prevent pirating. Long has plagued the software and hardware industries. Can they spy on us, maybe, but don't by a smartphone either if that is your worry. They are automatically registered without your knowledge in many places.

An app is something you load onto a quality tool to ensure it ends up in a landfill within 6 months

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Thomas Neuman says:

we have built in malware and spywhere and now we have to deal with built in ransomwhere?
how is that even legal to sell?

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rebecca Katana says:

Hi but no, The reason is rego is proof of sale and warranty most high end camera's turn to brick's camera rental / lease have the same thing but can be reset RED camera's

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars golfingbuddy1 says:

I agree, but I can also see it as an anti theft device if stollen new off the shelf. Generac whole house generators are the same if stollen new. It won’t work until you register it.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MazeFrame says:

I could not use this POS if I wanted to as I don't have a smartphone.
    What a joke.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ryzaki says:

Lmfaoo i don't see an issue? It's meant to work with your phone plus how tf are you supposed to update it to fix the bugs and problems? So stupid for ranting because your paranoid and didn't do research before buying a product.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars gamingSlasher says:

I was interested in DJI drones but their registration bullshit and lockdowns kept me away from it. Annoying when they make good products. Reminds me a little of Apple….

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JanicekTrnecka says:

Defective by design! In case I would accidentally buy such device, I would return it and invest some time in bad reputation for the manufacturer of such crap.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Maude Boyd says:

Say that again when you can't make warranty claims since you can't even follow simple instructions you wanker.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Abigail Little says:

Registering your Pocket 2 "binds" the device to your phone. It's a safety protocol to ensure security and authenticity. Lots of companies do that but you don't hear people complaining about that!

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars George & Delia Adventure Channel says:

return it, if you don't want to follow company rules, you don't have to buy this camera from DJI no one forces you .. don't talk so much shit.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jakob says:

Did you get it free of charge, as your precariously enough doesn't say anything about purchasing it.
and sadly it is very common in certain new country-regions like Australia, or the USA, or Russia and particularly Canada… that China is lubricating certain factors and influencers with china freebies from private non-listed-companies like DJI.
pretty much all other big channels in these countries fronting this Pocket 2.. got it free of charge and since you don't mention anything about purchasing or what you paid.
as it will be almost hilarious while getting your Karen on if it was free of charge.
China has a very hush policy about certain regions and how you lubricate these for, for other motives.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jasper Hutchinson says:

Calm down… It’s just an app that will help you get the best out of Pocket 2. Most gadgets right now are best enjoyed with such apps. Create don’t hate!

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ironmonkey103 says:

This is no better then Facebook and their requirement to create and log into their platform if you want to continue using the Oculus Quest. And if you say something they don't like, they can close your account and not only would you lose your account, but you no longer would be able to use your 300.00 plus VR head set. I want nothing to do with Facebook and sold my Oculus Quest. "Now, I have bought the Pocket 2 and it only required an email and password, but Still I would rather be able to use it right out of the box especially after paying over 350 bucks for it. It is bullshit.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Q Lee Miles says:

Dave… seriously? You've been using windows 10 for how long? and now you're complaining about intrusive crap???

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Martin L says:

Would instantly return the damm thing and get my money back!
You bought a pice of hardware, not a service!

If you can´t update without registration, fine!
If you can´t use fancy AI cloud funktions without registration, fine!
But you should be able to use it as is!!! It´s a damm hand held camera!!

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matt Phistopheles says:

I was looking at a DJI drone for Christmas but this video made me cancel the plan. Well done DJI (and Dave). You saved me a lot of money.

To all the "Facebook has your data too" guys: This is not about a product that definitely needs an app to function. Usually you know this before buying because it's obvious when you look at it's functionality.

This product doesn't need an app at all to work but it still bricks itself when it's not connected to a specific app after a few on off cycles. That is not acceptable. My washing machine has Bluetooth but it still washes my clothes without being connected to a foreign cloud service. This is how it should be. Not the other way around.
