All right guys before this video starts just wanted to say that we saw your comments from the last video and uh. We didn't do our homework on putting this diff together. So what happens is when one wheel's freewheeling one wheel, stationary uh, the axle that is moving? It puts a lot of leverage against the diff, especially the bushing, where the the axle shaft enters into the diff. So what you need to do is add another bearing pretty close to the wheel here.
To kind of you know, these two bearings will take a lot of that leverage away from the diff, so we won't be doing that in this video. The footage you saw we filmed before we posted the first video, so it was already done so you'll see it ripping around doing some wheelies and stuff and then next video, when we finish it up and paint it and do all the finishing touches. We will add some bearings and strengthen this thing up. So thank you again for the comments really appreciate you guys helping us back on the right track and enjoy the video.
So we are about to drive our trike, we're going to drive pretty hard, see how this diff works, give it really run through and there's a couple things we need to do. First though, so first, we need to change out this half inch threaded rod for a real smooth, shank bolt that'll just make the bearings fit up tighter and make it better and we'll have a lock nut on there, and then we also need to tune our car Because we're having a lot of idling issues last time, so once we get both of those done, we can go rip. This thing all right, sweet that is a much more solid fit. So it's still a little high.
We might actually just try putting one of the non-genuine makunis on here, but for now let's just go drive this thing. I want to drive it that was like not even moving the rear tire. This thing is cool, turns on a dime yeah. It really does awesome.
We're still having a bit of idling issues, so we had a 24 millimeter mikuni that we just had on the shelf on this thing. Swapped it out for a brand new 22 millimeter go powersportsmakuni and we're going to see if that makes a difference here, all right. That was it. This is definitely the best wheel here we have nothing else, you're sitting so far, back you're, basically over the axle.
If you lean back a little bit, it's just all right. It's like an interesting mix of drifting wheeling and like just open diff. It's kind of weird, but it's cool, it's definitely fun and controllable. Oh this is cool.
Did you see like it? It'll it'll, open diff. You know spin the tires not really like drift and then it'll hook up and then you'll start wheeling out of the turn. It's kind of fun too much. Really.
It really is so fast since you're right over the axle whoops nice, so impressions, um the springer front axle is actually really nice. Despite having you know hard tail, this is actually a really comfy bike to ride. You don't get like jarred around as much as a lot of other things: we've driven um, as always the jug is great. I'm glad we swapped that on, because that makes it a lot more fun out here got more torque and more high speed, the um, the fork tube angle that we did on this 25 degrees, perfect, very controllable, nice and the diff works great, so yeah, all in All i'm pleasantly surprised by everything on this little build. It's pretty awesome. I think it looks sweet too. It's got kind of like a vintage strike style. It really does once we get it.
Painted up. It'll, look sweet, it's yeah, i'm happy with it. That's fine! So so so um.
Completely off topic: but when you change the stock valve springs for 18lb springs in a predator 212 should it be a lot harder to pull start? Anyone? Thanks in advance.
I wanna ride it. That makes it a win in my book.
Just lock the rear end. Problem solved!
Rear axle flex isn't a "bug" it's a suspension "feature" hehe
