The Turbo Engine is finally going to rip!
In this video we install electronic fuel injection to our racing predator 212. The installation was pretty straightforward in terms of mechanical install, but the software and tuning is quite difficult to figure out. In the last video, we pull out all the stops and completely build the baddest 212 that has ever rolled out of our shop. We used a complete stage 4 go power sports 212cc predator build kit, then added things like a turbo, side plate, and 265 fire grind cam to make this thing into a stage 5. Some of the stuff this engine got, NR Racing Piston, billet flywheel, billet rod, billet dual bearing side cover, 265 grind cam, and an arc top plate. After this build we are going to be installing the entire efi system specifically designed for turbo applications like this. Be sure to stay tuned for the video of us tuning this bad boy!

It's couple weekends later this bad boy still looks just this beautiful as it did the day we built it $ 800. Later we have an EFI kit. Oh that's pretty! It's crazy costs about as much as like sniper EFI for car. So basically, it just comes with the throttle body with fuel injection air fuel sensor.
Ton of wiring comes with its own. Software poses McCain her electric fuel pumps so we'll be able to run a fuel tank like between our feets that were really cool. So first thing we're gon na do is where you need to figure out how we're gon na get the intake manifold kind of bolted up here, it's very similar to a mikuni, so we're thinking it should just go something like this. We need to go pirate or its adapter, so let's get going so.
The first thing we got to do is we got this adapter here that you don't normally use for 22 mil mikuni sells. I go power sports and it's actually going to work perfectly. For this thing, the only problem is, I don't know if it needs to be mounted perfectly vertical. I highly doubt it because it's just a fuel injection, injector and a throttle body, so we're probably gon na mount it like this and see how it goes, and this will be perfect because we can use our intake tubing.
We used before so it's pretty sweet out with the old engine yeah the old brand new till it's a very, very nice engine, but we got this one. This entire system is like super complicated. We have the fuel system pretty much laid out. It looks like there's so few low comes up through here it reaches a tee and this is a pressure regulator.
So this line will go right to the carburetor. I mean I guess injector yeah and then the one the pressure reaches enough. It'll, open up and that'll be the return line. Tell us about the MAF sensor.
You got the map sensor, just there's just a little bone right here, for it everything's pretty plug-and-play cz. It is the next day and I just welded on the o2. So that way we can have our sensor right there. It's at about a 45 degree angle to what we need to do is we just need to kind of mock everything up for just being able to transport it easily.
So I think I'm gon na cut out a piece of wood and I'm going to start bolting the stuff, the components of the EFI kit and oil system to it that when we go to the dyno, we can just carry it all and set it up. Pretty quick everything needs to be in one spot, so it's easy to transport, because we're gon na have to bring this thing to the I know, and then, when we're reinstalling it on the cart, we'll be able to make everything super pretty tuck everything up underneath the Body here so it'll be good, but with that in mind, let me explain what kind of janky this is going on here. Basically, we just have a reef. I found this like door hand stuff.
That adds a bunch whole. Is that that's good for spirits or wood? So I just bet that no, I got a battery holder and then I did the same thing for holding our gas tank and then we have the oil system. I screwed down the hose, clamp and just clamped it in there. So now I have our complete oil system hooked up and then now I'm gon na get started on I'll mount two switches like somewhere around here, so we can have oil pump and ignition so yeah. Basically, now what we have to do all the water mix stuff. I just kind of mocked out laid out a little bit. We have the intake air sensor, just kind of stuck in here and then we're just plugging in everything, and here comes an injector yeah very plug-and-play, like you know, when it's fully on the car, like all of this wiring somewhere, hey that looks sick just on its Own man, this thing ah yeah, welcome to episode 8 of the world's most expensive burger, hey guys. This is looking really crazy right now.
I think we just built the one of the world's most complicated predators since thanks freakin wild, so this got the Eco kal just like tuning interface and then here's just like the DUI for updating our like new tunes. If we decide to tune it today, all right yeah not really sure to use this but children. Well, I guess we do ignition on and then just see what happens on the computer yeah we're kind of learning with you also. We have anything for any directions.
You know so you go from a Minnesota base. Okay, yep a couple weekends later we're here back with the turbo cart, we did a ton of research jason's our resident two, nor now so kind of that was going on. I know everything how to use eco kal, but they like introduce intricacies of tuning. I'm not super sure about so we'll be doing a lot of like guessing and checking like change of value.
Do a run stuff like that yeah. We want to do a completely separate tuning video, but we're we're gon na just get it running good enough and rev it a little bit. So we can hear turbo noises and stuff. I'm sure you all want to hear this stage for predator, be the turbo on it.
So alright, guys thanks for watching this is super fun to do super cool build. Thank you. Go power sports. All the parts we use to build this part are from got power.
Sports and we're just kinda do a take this kind of slow figure out a lot of the bike. Intricacies of tuning figure out like just take one thing at a time and just fix each individual thing stay tuned. The next video is us actually tuning this thing and putting load on the engine, so we can actually make boost thanks for watching make sure to subscribe and, like this video see you next time.
What parts did you use I’m trying to turbo my own 6hp Clone engine but on a mini bike would greatly appreciate it if someone would reply to this with a link or sum of these parts used. Love the channel bro
where'd you guys get/ the brand of the efi/fuel injection unit and the turbo?
I like the work you do but my god don’t you make out things are more complicated than they are 🤣 got more money than sense 🤣
That exhaust sounds way better then the normal Harley Davidson sound.
By question is if the turbo that have on the motor was ment for a gas engine would it be better to run a turbo off of a diesel engine like a jetta or a beetle be cause they create less flow and heat but would allow the small gas engine to create more boost
should have put the motor behind the rear axel so that the motor is pulling the rear chain not pushing the weight of the whole kart and axel just hope the chain stays on
Race boosted boyz or you a bigass Bitch and a content thief
I’m no expert, but I do believe that fitting a turbo on a single cylinder engine is quite difficult to get running to its best ability, I believe it has something to do with the valves between exhaust closing and intake opening.
I’m sure you have a build some sort of plenum chamber.
Good luck.
Hey i know its a pain but put the o2 closer to the exhaust turbine itll read more accurately, like 6-8 inches from turbine and then u want like another 8-12 inches of exhaust
I have a fuel injected and turbo'ed 250cc buggy and it's going to be a long process to get running right! A few things I learned along the way… Move the O2 sensor as close to the turbo as you can and away from the exhaust outlet. The pulses will pull O2 back into the pipe and give you false readings (you really don't want that). Actually, ditch the O2 sensor that came with the kit and get a wideband sensor. It's pricey but worth its weight in gold when you start spooling.
A plenum is critical between the turbo and intake. It should be a minimum of 4x the size of your cylinder. The turbo needs to flow while your one and only intake valve is closed (75% of the time) and the plenum gives it this space. The good news is that an intercooler makes a perfect plenum and also helps with the 200+ degree air temps that you'll see.
Make absolutely sure there are no exhaust leaks. Even the smallest leaks will affect your total boost. Slather Permatex Copper Gasket maker on all connections.
I need to be at ~5000 RPM with a decent load to produce boost (11 psi). Revving in neutral won't generate any at all.
Good luck! The tuning process can take a long time. Take it slow and make sure you keep an eye on your A/F the entire time.
Does it have closed loop fueling? What positive pressure will the map handle? Boosting a single cylinder 2v will always be hard especially with a turbo. Be much easier with a blower.
You guys are doing it right, built motor + turbo. This thing should be rowdy
O2 sensor is to close to the exhaust outlet, it will read leaner, because of the outside air
Did you guys get the turbo friendly version of the ecotrons kit. You know it needs the bigger injector and the 2 bar map sensor. If not you might have some tuning problems with the turbo and just that small map sensor and injector.
On a single cylinder turbo engine you need a "boost tank " on the intake. It allows the turbo to build pressure in the tank and lets the engine get some real boost.
This is why NONE of the turbo builds on youtube seem to actually work. I think a decent sized intercooler off a car would make the perfect "boost tank".
Theres a channel called nugget garage i think. In their new cart build videos even they address this issue
Great video, but I make the suggestion of running a catch can for the simple fact of letting the crank case breathe especially now with it having a turbo
Hey BBR is there something in that kit that picks up cam positioning ? Or crank positioning?🤔
Y’all gonna blow that little clutch into PCs and hurt ur selfs I know it takes more room you don’t have but it’s time to upgrade to torque converter
The efi should run best preformance from 12.5 – 13.5 AFR. Target of 13.1
O2 sensor shouldn’t be that close the the tip, it’ll backfeed whenever you let off the throttle and mess your ratios up. Other than that looks pretty awesome
