In this video we show you guys our mini 2 stroke dirt bike find! We bought this vintage Yamaha bike at the Pate Swap Meet this last year and got to drive it a little bit then but nothing too crazy. We found that in our short time driving it there were issues with it staying running and not cutting out at the top end. With a little bit of carb tuning we were able to get it running just fine and hit the power band very nicely. After we got this mini dirt bike running good we took it out to our favorite spot and gave her a rip and raced our cj mini bike with a built predator 212!
Thank you guys for watching and be sure to stay tuned for this thing to get a full cosmetic restoration!

This is our mxc omx 80. I believe yeah. So this is our paint find 600 bucks she's a little rough around the edges, but I think, with a little bit of carb tuning and to clean up she's gon na ride good yeah, I'm excited for this one. It's very classic.
Okay, so first things: first, we got ta, get this car buff and see. What's up with this, it looks pretty clean yeah. It does. I mean that's pretty good, it's pretty sharp.
It says really clean yeah. I guess we'll open her up and take a look. I just took about the carb and muscle stuff looks really clean, but in the bottom of the bowl there's a good amount of dirt in there, which I guess is from running with no filter. When we got it, there was no filter, and then I took out the pilot jet and I, when I held it up to the light.
I cannot there's no light shining through it at all. So it's definitely clogged so I'll. Try getting this one clogged and then check the rest of it. Okay, so good news I was able to.
I took a little like sewing needle and we were just barely able to get the pilot jet clean so other than that everything else main jet - and you know everything else - is looking good. So, let's put this all back together and hopefully you'll have me yeah. So a runner test oil injection and then, if everything, checks out we'll take her out, move the needle on the carb down a little bit to make it a little bit leaner and we got a really small air filter. That fits this thing and now I'll just go through the river range and see if it's happy, so let's go rip this thing first business.
Do it dr skip the carbs right, so it going Oh Wow. This thing is a lot better, really, really really fun. I mean also inflating the tires, helps a lot with its handling, but we definitely affixed to a shock. Okay, so we're filming both of these videos at the same time.
So we might as well have the drag race. We got the MX an ad CC, two-stroke, with four gears versus our bill, predator with a turkey burger come on, go on there, hey it's cool liar! Thank you! So much for watching this MX turned out to be an awesome, find, oh, I mean really cool. I basically just brought it back from pates and did a little bit of maintenance that y'all saw and it was ready to rip we've had we have a couple hours on this thing so far, I'm sure so the next phase of this is really just going to Be a complete restoration, so stay tuned for that. If you're into this bike, we also got some more shifter stuff coming in the future, so be sure to stay tuned.
For that, thank you go power source. Thank you guys for watching, see you next.
my co-worker Nick Walker Has The Same Kind Of Bike 1981 Yamaha GT 80 2-Stroke same Color He Drove It To Work Everyday But His Seat Was So Brown And Rusty and Very Smokey When It Drives It IT Was Blowing A lot Of Blue Smoke Everywhere
Can I get a quote on fixing one of these through a dealership? It may have the same problems as yours did but it doesn’t run. Any ideas?
Now I miss my mx80 , they do move pretty good . Buzzing down the railroad tracks sliding around on the rocks , those were the days
Where’d you guys get the parts for the bike. I’m having trouble finding the carburetor gasket that goes on the bowl
This was my first bike in 1981. Those little bikes were awesome!
Did you check the vin and where if you did i have one like that and cant figuire out what it is for parts.
Ah fun vid! My first dirt bike was a 1980 Yammy MX 100 I bought new when I was 16. Paid for it with my paper route money. $600. Been through a lot of bikes since then and now have a '18 KTM 690 Enduro R.
Bike sounds great man I just got one I’m about to fix been sitting in a garage for 30 years mint just dusty. It’s a 1978gt80mx
Cool little bike I'm hopefully gonna score one this week for $100. Needs a little tune up I'm hoping
This was my first dirtbike. Mine was a 73. I just sold it to a buddy. There fun little bikes. They made a street legal version also called the gt80. The holes on the fenders that are plugged are where the lights went. There is a blank plug on the left side of the engine where the speedo cable goes
I got a gt80 for free and I'm looking to restore it to make it street legal. I know urs is gt80 but they're built the same way besides wires and lil details. Mine got the optional 5 speed on it.
Probably not the best idea to be wearing shorts, especially while riding on a gravel road…
I had a 1979 Yamaha GT80. street legal version of this. What a dog and only a 4 speed.
The fuel tap has a filter screen inside of it that can be cleaned out but you can fit a finer grade microfine paper filter to remove all of the contaminants !
Nice bike you guys, I just sold mine back in June. I’m not very well versed on these, but the one I had was the gt80, essentially the same bike except mine was street legal. I don’t know if the mx80s were or not but it would be cool to find out and add back all the lights to make it legal again.
I here that intro music and see that hole saw and I know the next several minutes is going to be comfy.
Good to see, I have a Suzuki TC125 from 1972, I got it for free from a dude i know, needed new points, condenser and coil as well as me welding the kick starter back together and cleaning the oil pump. It runs well considering the top end is bad due to previous owner running without air filter. I plan to get new top end, repaint, tidy up etc when I get older and have more money, I'm only 16. Btw it's the one with the dual range gearbox. Low range 1st gear can climb anything, it's awesome
I'll be glad when most every youtuber doesn't ensure they say that they're "excited", or, "Super excited" at least once in every video. You've all become a joke.
Keep putting your foot down your gonna get hurt .be safe my friends
That’s from back when dirt bikes were still pretty to look at, and they al didn’t look exactly alike!😊😊😊
You should enter that in the Cars & Camera's off road bash that's coming up later in the year 🙂
great find. my first bike was a 83 mx100 I love these old 2 strokes
I prefer 2 wheels to 4… except in the snow 🙂 cause it's like flying
It should have a in the tank filter. Like us old school people know how to clean.
I wouldn't trust the oil injector, just mix the gas & oil
Thats cool, had a riding buddy in the day with a first gen Mini-Enduro Yamaha. Be cool to see it restored, you guys are doing great thanks for sharing!
Had this same bike bought it for 80 dollars at a garage sale back in the 90s lol
i had a '79 yamaha 100 just like that when i was a kid, i beat the crap out of it an it never died!!!! only thing we ever did to it was change the air filter an clutch plates, rest was stock. mine has a speedo an it would hit 53 mph an it was screaming at that speed LOL… had it for almost 20 years, my kid even rode it!! ended up selling it an it was still running great LOL.. cant kill those old yamaha's
Hey guys didn’t finish watching had to say I grew up riding one of those awesome find that’s actually worth some money
Nice find! Reminds me the days of our old Kawasaki 90 when I was a kid. Had such a blast on that thing! Great job guys!
