Continuing the upgrades on our 1968 Chevy C10 Shop Truck, we swapped the engine with a newer, more powerful Chevy Performance 350 crate motor that's pushing out 333hp! This engine was originally in the Jeep CJ but we figured it'd be more suited in the truck, which we use much more often. We cleaned it up after getting it muddy in the Jeep and gave it a new paintjob and valve covers to make it look brand new even though it has about 2000 miles on it. The truck has way more low end and passing power now, and you can cruise on the highway all day long. Thanks for watching and see you next time!

We just pulled the truck in it. Looks super good. You might be wondering what else do we need to do to this thing? Well, it's time for a sweet upgrade right now. This has a unknown mileage, chevy 350, that we've kind of done some cosmetic upgrades to mainly the valve covers and the uh air filter.

But we have, we don't know the mileage of this thing. Um previous owners said it's pretty much, just lowest tier crate engine available with like an rv cam in it i'm guessing. It's probably like i think 250 horsepower is an optimistic um guess for what this engine is making. So we went a different route with the cj but off camera and with some other things involved we actually pulled the motor from it.

So this thing is a turnkey ho350, it's about like 333 horsepower and close to 400 pound-feet of torque. So it's going to make this truck an absolute ripper in the last video. We discovered that this truck has posi traction. We just finished up all four wheel disc brakes, so it's going to rip, but the first thing we need to do is we got to pull this engine and then the second phase is going to be making this thing look really pretty.

So it looks a little more like that. We need to paint it up. It got accumulated some rust from sitting in the cj and then we'll plop this back in and then we'll be able to get some footage of ripping this thing, i think we just go maximum lift. Can you go backwards more? We took out the three bolts that connect the torque converter here to the flex plate.

Now i got my trusty ratchet and we're taking out the four bottom bolts. I can reach that connect to the transmission from the engine, so we'll get these suckers pulled out, and then we have to go from the top to get the last two bolts that connect the to the engine and then i think we are getting ready to hook. The chains up and pull her up time for the fun part draining the coolant all right, yeah our engine hoist, doesn't fit so next step to take out the bumper. So some of those bolts were super bad to get out, but there goes the bumper all right.

So you're it's gon na touch the brakes. So now, if we could shift this back dang, we still can't drop. Oh, we can't just one where we lined it up. We got to take the hood off now, all right, all right, all right, all danny this is our new wall, art showrock, it's cute, so close dude.

I don't know: okay, all right so now that we got the engine all cleaned up, it's time to get it painted. So we put it taped off everything. This engine is like 90 tape now and we're just going to go with the gloss black, because, while this engine is really nice, i it was on the jeep for a few years and it got kind of muddy and it was a little rusty and crusty. So, let's get it looking brand new, we should have done this when it's straight.

When it came from performance there was so much bare metal and stuff all right, so that should do it. For today we got a couple coats on this thing. So we'll see you back tomorrow, we'll unmask it here. She is, let's uh, do the honors and unmask this, and then we can get her all prepped and ready to go in the truck oil change because it's definitely easiest to do it.
While it's on here, we also got some of these front accessories bolted up, um, but pretty soon we're gon na put the plate on hook it up and then we'll install like our distributor and stuff but yeah. It's looking good all right! That is 85 foot pounds for all of them. I also put in our dual sync: msd distributor: that's supposed to go with the holley efi um that i just took off the truck. I got it put it in at 50 degrees before top dead center and this thing's ready to go so the motor's in we just tightened up the bolts that go from the engine to the transmission and now i'm just putting on all the accessory drive when jason Uh finishes the wiring cleanup when he's all done with that, we'll give you a walk through, but with that we just kind of tucked everything off over to the side.

So when it comes to reinstall, it's pretty much as simple as just doing something like this. Getting the alternator to fit just like so we're keeping the sniper efi sitting pretty. I just set up the msd dual sync distributor um, with the engine at 50 degrees before top dead center, got it pointing at the number one spark plug so we'll just get all these wired up. So we have everything in with the exception of like the coolant and the hood.

We're just gon na do a quick test because it is really late um and we just want to see if we should keep going or not or if we'll just call it a night. So we'll see if this thing fires up um yeah so hit it right. All right, uh yeah, i just wanted to like smoke up the garage yeah. It started right up there.

That's it's! That's pretty easy, sounding good yeah. Let's finish it and drive it. Yes, sir. That looks pretty good.

It's a new day. We got a little too tired. Yesterday is getting into the morning hours but we're here and i'm really confident that it should fire up. We got the hood on.

We got it full of coolant, everything's ready to go so we'll just start it up we'll back her up and then let it sit and warm up for a little bit and then let everything burn off and stuff. And i want to thank for a test drive by that rip. Three torque converter names fall off all right, looking good, damn smoking too bad foreign, so first off it's a very similar engine, it's just kind of better, slightly, better or really better in every way. Um.

It's definitely smoother and sounds better and especially from you know, low rpm. It has a lot more performance once you're kind of like on the highway or like in third gear. You can't tell as much but um like when you're in first gear, and you give it some gas you you can tell like it's very obvious, that this thing has more power, definitely faster at higher rpms. All right.
Let's see how she does on the highway. Pretty effortless so far already going 70. see dog caps stay on, oh, i hope so they're pretty on there. So right now we're going 75 easy rpm, 2200.

uh, it's better than before yeah. Definitely. Another thing we did is that the wires that were here we had a bunch of fuses just hanging out and the wires were going everywhere. We had 11 positives all going to one point before so what i did is i got this fuse box, so we have, you know all four of our fuses for the air ride: um, the radio and headlights.

Those are all in here and then you know these were already here from the previous owners and then i we didn't really have anything lying around the garage. So i made this kind of all positive 11 wire bus bar, so we have 14 wires going to this, and then we still have three on the positive, but it looks a lot better and hopefully this shouldn't give us any problems. We can always update it or upgrade it later, but for now it should be good. Thank you guys for watching it.

It does really well, it looks sick it drives sick. We do have some orange valve covers on the way they're the taller ones too. They should look really sick, although i'm not too. I have no problem with the chrome.

It looks a little vintage and stuff, but i really like the tall orange valve covers on the other engine, so we'll get that installed. If we do get those i'll just insert a b-roll clip of those on there, so those would look sick, that'll be the final look of this thing. Yeah real, pretty nothing too serious, just kind of a crate 350, but it gets it down the road real nice. It spins the tires.

It sounds good and because we do most of our driving on the highway, we're really lucky that we're still at like 2 200 rpms going at 70 and it down shifts and pulls hard when you want to pass somebody. So that's really good, but anyway, thank you all for watching. We'll see you next time.

new to your channel what brake booster do you have in the truck? having some problem with my dip stick cuz of the booster & headers awesome video

I actually bought the engine that was in this truck with the orange valve covers and put it in the Racecar that is in my profile picture. Every video on my channel is racing with this engine. Out of five outings we’ve had one win in my first year. It’s definitely stock, but it has been a good one so far! I plan to change the heads and cam then we will have a real fire breather. Saw the truck and shop in person, truly badass.

You guys have any other plans with the old CJ build?

ALSO it is a lot easier to remove engines when you remove the radiator !

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Busic says:

There is a reason to paint engines ANY light color. So you can see oil leaks ! Painting engines black is a mistake, but to each their own.

What braking system did you use in your homemade go kart? Looking at building my own. If you could could you give me a build list on it?

1st off i am a little upset you didn't paint in Chevrolet Orange and the secondly the music has a Van Morrison vibe which I like so i am giving you a pass.

Did you notice how you guys didn't change the trans, tc or rear end? The gearing shouldn't change on the highway. And please for the love of God, make sure all of those positives are fused.

Awesome swap! I'm looking at getting a 71 F250 w/ 360fe when I get home! I have a question about the EFI swap you did, would you recommend going the full 9 yards and doing everything EFI swap with the msd distributor manifold etc etc? Or does the Holly sniper work well enough for daily driving and use? Many thanks guys! Keep up the awesome videos! I always look forward to your videos while I'm out here in deployment!

This channel would be a lot more interesting and easier to watch if there was a bit less high school theatre acting 🎭 and a lot more just being your self and talk to the camera like we are just one of your mates but it will happen with practice keep making video and just an idea don’t ever call anything on your truck “ pretty “ 😶

I'd love to have the old engine to swap into my 1987 chevy Silverado v10 my dad and I put it together when I was 11 I'm 24 now and I'm working on restoring it to make my dad proud

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Willie Rule says:

Man the first thing you should have done is take that damn hood off and you would have never had all that struggle but you got it

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Erwin says:

Great job! Amazing work! I doubt anyone else could have swapped a 350 SBC for a 350 SBC like that.

you guys blow away RBG and rather b welding!!! at least you guys finish projects

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tariq El Ageli says:

To be honest I would have slapped a blower on it, change the cam to accommodate that boost, and have more powa!

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Doug Bruce says:

You guys gotta make the videos more upbeat! You look like you guys are working instead of enjoying your builds. The videos are just coming off monotone, like a how to video. You gotta give the videos some more fun, the builds are great! The videos are just coming off like you have to make them, instead of enjoy making them.
