Hi, let's go into the dumpster room, shall we? And I'll give you a look at what's in here. Well, mostly garbage, but I did find something quite decent. There are a few things in here we have ta-da some sort of Tv, some large screen Tv not sure what it is, um, and very useful. Storage tubs 52-litre jobbies? how many? two, four, six, eight, ten, or something.
Unbelievable. So um, yeah, they're very useful. Uh, for the storage bunker, so I'm gonna get those out and uh, maybe have a look at the Tv. I usually don't find the Tv in the dumpster itself.
Usually people just like dump it to the side here, or someone's been buying on Amazon and someone got a new chair. There is a chair in the dumpster, one of the dumpsters too, and somebody's uh, little filing cabinet things. They're always useful. The one I've I've got one of those.
um, but yeah, it's chock-a-block It gets cleared a couple of times a week, so I better get this out now. Let's go. Uh, no, that's a fail. and it's one of those sonic ones.
Nope, it's all busted. So yeah, no good, Not even worth taking. And uh, yes, down here, we have a convenient power point. Um, because it's for the waste compactor here.
I've got a video in progress on the waist compactor. Um, I've been shoving cardboard boxes in there and compressing them. Maybe I'll release that someday. But yeah, it does work.
But it's uh yeah. the screens took a hammer in. So yeah, no point. there you go.
I scored, uh, seven of those with lids. Absolutely fantastic 52-litre jobs. Ah win a winner chicken dinner.
Nothing like some good 'ol dumpster diving! After having terrible success finding any decent locations for dumpster excursions, i discovered the 'holy grail' out behind the Boeing "space and defense" facility near my house, but that was cut short when the police arrived to voice their disapproval. sigh
If there would have been a compactor where I live it would have been stolen the same day. ๐
"General Waste" Electronics, plastics and what not in the same bin. Don't you have any electronic and plastic recycling in AU?! Plastic goes in plastic bind ans electronics goes in electronics bins.
Who the hell throws perfectly working storage tubes like that. They are super useful.
Don't bullshit Dave, the rubbish there is the useless shit you get from people via the "mailbag".
I like that they call your trash room a "garbage store!" It's as if they intend for people to go dumpster diving!
tv, bad screen working boards, … how is that NOT worth salvaging? strip the good boards and resell them, smart tv boards r not cheap
I got a friend who shops at the garbage store he's always collecting garbage that friend isn't he something.
Put the TV in compactor while powered on. Whatโs the rating on the breaker on that circuit – 20A maybe? Thatโs 240 VAC x 20A = 4.8kW as the compactor crushes the power supply in the TV and puts a dead short on the mains. Yeah, thatโs gonna leave a skid mark! ๐
I'm so jealous of your dumpster room access. I could spend hours diving through all that trash. As the saying goes: "One man's trash is another man's trash."
So wasteful for somebody to have dumped those storage tubs. Does nobody else have a local facebook group for giving away or selling items like this? I guess the downside is having a stranger and potential murderer turn up at your house to pick up the items, but at least you would have done your bit for the planet.
Our dumpster room in Sydney has just gotten an ewaste recycling bin. Maybe suggest that during the strata meeting
To a USAian like myself, the sign Garbage Store looks like someone selling garbage. It took me a second or two to realize what it meant.
I took a sheet of paper out of the trash the other day so I could note some measurements. People looked at me like I had pulled out a half eaten sandwich and started eating it.
The Electronic boards in the Flatscreed are apparently good, pull them to sell as spare for other repair shop
This โGarbage Storeโ may have a limited selection, but the prices are great!
You guys throw a TV and plastic boxs into the same bin? :O Here in Austria you would get lynched for that XD
That TV could be good for 4:3 viewing still. ๐
I would've rescued it!
Amazing what people throw away… No worries about the environment there! Reusing (or even proper recycling) isn't a thing obviously. ๐
Chuck out the tft and it's great lightbox/fake window with polarized light.
the worst part is that there's a fairly high chance that the TV was fine and cracked due to being thrown into the dumpster
I'm surprised none of the other people come to you first before they go to the dumpster.
Don't you guys have some regulations about disposing of e-waste? I mean you wouldn't normally put a TV in the regular garbage.
Who throws away a garbage compactor, wel great working condition lets take it upstairs ๐คฃ๐คฃhahah
huh weird I seem to be watching a downloaded video that does not exist anymore about the Shift Wallet. The other one though, if someone had converted it and fixed it, it would really suck to get the pcbs and have something not connected or connected to the wrong thing. It is almost simple enough to verify all the connections. There is the issue of untested parasitic effects.
It's really offensive that so many people throw out perfectly good stuff instead of just donating them. I wouldn't be surprised if that TV was fine and broke when they threw it in the dumpsters. ๐
Do you have Waste regulations not to throw electronic waste in landfills? Do people obey those regulations?
