A very brief look at the new WENS 540 Debug Meter with Charles from Trio Test at the Electronex show stand:
This is NOT a review, or my normal blog content, it's just a quick look because some people may be interested in it. So please, no silly complaints.

Done.
Fluke replica
Let the guest talk!!!
We're offering this brand new meter but the demonstrator claims he hasn't taken the time to read the specs ? What ??
please do a review of wens 540
your 2018 teardown sent me. this looks like a really useful device there's not much info about them on youtube I think your vids are the only ones
It has some interesting resemblances with the Fluke 287/289 designwise, I have to say.
I'd recognize that accent anywhere! Charles is obviously from Northern Ireland 🙂
i need this!
let him finish his sentence will you?! why would you interrupt the man speaking!
Too bad, it looks too much like a fluke. However I've had a WENS multimeter before, and relatively it's of good quality although the name won't ring a bell for most people.
I can't wait to see the device test of this one. I'm sure it's at least as good as those sub-$50 multimeters he reviewed years ago … although given this video, I imagine Dave'll go all soft on the bugs and inaccuracies 😉
Pitiful, it's not even a color screen. You can get a good little color desk scope for under $250.
Something like this is great for me, now to justify the cost. I work with automotive buses all the time and probing them is great for fault finding. If only it was closer to the $500 mark.
What I'm still missing on the market is portable scope the size Hantek makes but with ROTARY ENCODER KNOBS and not just menu driven buttons. Can't be hard, I'd pay k for that…
Thanks Dave. How much is that in US dollars? It seems to be very handy for someone out & about. I agree with the guy who commented about the display – test equipment manufacturers really need to get with the times. Although they may just be trying to increase the battery life between charges. I'm still a rookie so I don't know.
Looks like fluke 289 a lot
That is the most versitile handheld meter I've ever seen. Admittedly I haven't seen many, but still $795, not bad at all.
looks a lot like my fluke 289!
Nice product from South Korea!
It looks like a Fluke 289 with a slightly different control panel For a brand new instrument in 2014, that LCD looks very low contrast, circa 1990s. The squidgy navigation controls look similarly clunky too. I realise there are issues with regard to power consumption and dev costs, but when your £50 smartphone has a high res colour touch screen, then I think tool manufacturers have to move forwards by a couple of decades. This is sitting in that uncomfortable place somewhere between serious tool and funky gadget. Maybe a sign of things to come in the "standard" multimeter market though?
Quite pricy, but it's loaded. And it's yellow.
