Hi, just a heads up and warning to fellow YouTube content creators: this one's important and I Hadn't seen this before. We've got a Very clever and very nasty phishing scam and this is not fishing catching fish. This is the fishing of the Ph kind. Let's take a look at it.

I Got this email. Just a little while ago, and Once again, if you're a YouTube content producer, you're probably used to getting these a copyright claim on my latest video the OWON video here. And It happens all the time YouTube have this magic algorithm that matches content ID from various publishers And You can get falsely flagged. You know if you your speech or some other sounds in your video match the little algorithmic Thing that there is a little wavelet thing or however, they match the things in you Videos can get falsely flag.

That's not usually not a huge deal. You Just go through the claim process, and everything's hunky-dory Yes, there are companies out there that Do you know target channels, and you know do real nasty claims and stuff like that even anyway? That's not one of them. We're talking about just regular one, so I get these videos. You know one in every 30 or 50 videos I might get a false claim or something so it happens, so I actually Got this email and just went.

Oh yeah, here we go again. another false trigger somehow, so I actually screen captured this I tweeted it And then like like a minute later or 30 seconds later I went And this doesn't look and sound right. something's going on here, so let's take a look at it. Shall, we First of all I've never heard the word muted used before.

like muted What Does that mean like I like I don't know, it just seems weird wording. And Then if we go in to look at the email, who it's from, look at this. Who the hell like what? Address is that prod.iad2.secureserver.net That doesn't look the sound like it comes from YouTube at all and who they sent it to look EEVblog plus business at Gmail Now I do have that address on my YouTube channel about page, and it's for specific business inquiries and stuff like that. So I get sorted in Gmail and all that sort of jazz, but I don't use that email address that any of my accounts, so why have they sent it there and smells fishy? and then the sender to this? EEVblog@uh-secureserver.net Something's going wrong here.

Something's highly suspicious and a copyright owner using content ID has claimed some material in your video. This is just a heads up. Do Not worry, Not with the capital "N" Grandma's not to grade in this. you are with the capital A as the second word.

No. It sounds a bit dodgy. I don't know who WMG is anyway. Some People including ??? Twitter claim that they do claims like this all the time.

So They're probably wack that name in and look at this. Write it so it looks like a legitimate email that I've got before. and if they Went to a bit more effort to register a domain name or something that looks very similar to YouTube Then you know they could get away with it. They Probably already get a lot of people with this scam.
But Let's have a look at the link down here. Ordinarily, just don't click on these links. But They're not going to be able to fish me, just buy this link of doing this as a community service. But Don't click on these links.

Okay,, so if we have a look, the link actually goes to secure. It's a secure one, but it goes to Service-gomail.seenineusers.io blah blah blah. It's obviously not YouTube, and it's what they're trying to make it look like. the Google login page.

You Once again, It's populated with EEVblog+business. That's not my login So They're trying to get your login name, your emails, your login email, and your password of course. and once you've done that, Bingo they can. You know the red flag goes off in, you know? Some country where they're running this scam from in the offices there And We got one and they can then log in to your account Take it over do whatever.

I'm not sure how they actually make their money from this. Maybe they take your advertising revenue for a little while. You do that too. You know, a thousand? The Council.

they're ten thousand accounts, and you know you can Funnel some money around for a while before you move on to the next game. I don't know anyway. and also if so, if you're going to get an email like this, make sure that you Log in through your regular secure way into your Google account because there's no need to click on links on these sort of things. So What So if you go, actually, if I go into YouTube so waiting to YouTube? Find you know, I'm already logged in.

So I went in there and had a look and nah, my monetization still's enabled. There's no content ID claim in there at all? Obviously Because it's a phishing that scam. They're just trying to get my login details and take over my account? The bastards. So If you know, there's a lot of telltale signs in here.

But I Can see why people would just go oh, you click on that You know if you're tired you're doing with another bloody claim You know and you just you know you get in here, and you login. They Got my email address. Wrong, wrong, right? they can easily You know I can see how if people would be easily fooled by that. so just be very very careful and only log in through your regular secure way and double check and Then solve the problem through your regular YouTube interface, So there you go.

Don't get caught by this phishing scam. That's a nasty little one. Hadn't heard about that one. content ID Phishing Scam Nasty Watch out for it.

Hope That helped catch you next time.

You can easily create a 2 step verification account , how ever , there is another way , They steal your video , make sure you get to know it's stolen , so you make a claim for take down , and thief simply files a dispute with false name adress and phone , (YES YOUTUBE ACCEPT FAKE INf FOR FOR DISPUTES) and youtube sends them your real nme adres and phone number lol , so you go to the police to report that you received false information , so you cannot start a case , and worker at youtube don't give a crap and just replace videos back that were stolen , this happened to me , and I still suffer because of that , I believe that Youtube has false workers doing this to creators to take the channel down , happens to those with allot of videos ,

In case of similar things (not with youtube, but indeed phishing, faked login pages) I usually checked the source of the page out and wrote a script which sends thousands of totally random generated login/password pairs (and from multiple source IP addresses …), so the bad guys may have bad day to have thousands of "faked victims" and maybe only a few among them from other people to be real, good luck to find those 😛 However it's so a usual thing nowadays too see scams like this, and so many different ways, that I am too tired to play with this every time since a while 😛

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars m76sports says:

Thank goodness scammers are just as stupid as regular people. Most phising scams reek from miles away. If they spent 10 minutes on setting up the scam email, rather than 5 minutes they'd get 100x more victims.
