Are Telstra (Bigpond), Australia's largest Internet Service Provider deliberately throttling (capping) Youtube bandwidth on all of their plans? (even the best Bigpond Cable Elite plan)
UPDATE: The day after I posted this video Telstra contacted me and finally admitted the problem was systemic across all users and said they would fix, they did a few days later.

it is 2023 and i have 30mbps speeds on my FTTN connection. NBN is a joke. My home wiring is brand new as I'm a ACMA cabler.
Wow, $100/month for 30Mbps download, did you have unlimited data too?
The ombudsman doesn’t do anything anyway. They do a lot more than throttling. So disturbing I’m speechless. To think we are living in Australia.
uuuh… 30Mbps is garbage. that isn't anywhere near "the fastest" internet speeds…
Just thinking about Telstra makes me want to go and take a big fucking dump
I'm downloading a file right now. The download speed shoots up to 900kbps and then instantly drops to 300kbps – rinse and repeat. Fuck Telstra.
How it works Telstra owns infrastructure and maintains it and the other telephone companies rent the infrastructure
Yeh Telstra sux bruhz. But if you use a good quality VPN they can't throttle you because they can't tell your packets are bound for youtube. Not a very good test tho none of the users or yourself showed a speed test for your sync.
Fuck telstra!
Ditch your Telstra Internet and try giving Aussie Broadband a go, I'm on a plan with Aussie Broadband that gives me 100Mb/s download and 40Mb/s upload speeds, and it's only costing me $75.00/Month with 499Gb of data per month.
If Telstra make no mention of that in the contract for the service you signed up for with them, then you should get in contact with the Australian Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman and register a complaint about it.
I call bull Wireless can be very reliable if engineered correctly.
you should try any work with 3700 ping that what im getting the best i can get is 25 ping on a good day but it don't stay there for long lol telstra fucking sucks it use to be good at the other house but here its shit as
That's well done.
I'll be interested to see if Telstra does it on the NBN. Let the ombudsman know about Telstra throttling the bandwidth with YouTube.
What will be the best internet If I play Xbox and someone watches YouTube
Australia has the worst wifis ever
It's Tel$tra I don't know how so many people end up with them thinking they are 'best service' just because they overcharge people double prices
u look cooked
I can't even watch you tube or foxtel go for $100 month telstra throttling in albany wa 9 news says western australia has the slowest ADSL speeds in the country. i'm thinking about hacking telstra to get faster speed if someone shows me how. trying to watch this video and telstra buffering for 10mins then pauses at 1 min 58 seconds . is telstra on the nbn any better as it'll probably be another 50 years before they offer it here. Telstra perth server speed test ping 45ms Downlink 3.17mbps Uplink 0.30mps . i'd switch networks but telstra will still charge me line rental to use there lines / telephone exchanges with another provider so can't win. The nbn fibre optic speed i think labour wanted was 3gbps down 1gbps up or faster.
still, not even good internet
if im the only one home and i go on my ps4 and play like bf4 if i go on google i lag so bad so fucken dumb Telstra
Lol. In the UK, we have up to 200mbps.
Most videos use around or between 2.5 and 3.5 mb bandwidth bitrate depending on what movies you are watching and what formats they are in will also make the video not stream properly. if you are going to upload to YouTube convert your file to a transport stream that is what its for.
Fuckers! 🙁
fantastic work
Well if any of you could help get these Telstra buggers to get commercial quote to get cable internet, that would help my YouTube and twitch immensely.
