NOTE: This is NOT a substitute for the real Mailbag episode, which is a separate video.
This is just complete behind the scenes footage of Dave shooting a Mailbag episode, as watched by several hundred people live on Youtube, and automatically recorded by Youtube.
With behinds the scenes commentary of how a typical video shoot goes.

Done.
Wow, yeah. This is totally live.
i can see you here in romania
Is it just me or does the Logitech C920 make a buzzing noise ("blip-blip") as it refocuses periodically? Bit of a shame because it is otherwise a good webcam…
too much technology…
yup you're on!
Hi Dave, you need a mororized-camcorder hanging from ceiling and mounted on a rail running along your lab, remotely controlled also !
Neat work Dave! :D, now i see it's a hard job, full time blogging, keep up the good work!
Hey Dave, you can use Open Broadcast Software (OBS) to do this, is more user friendly and the scenes are more easy to use and edit. Plus you can change the config on the bitrate and cpu usage to fit your pc specs!
We had one of those floppy drive camcorders at work. It did the job and was quite bleeding edge in the day. I think the max resolution was like 640-480. Pretty horrible by today's standards. Anyway I look forward to watching the tear down. I see it's already been posted.
I can see you! 😉
seriously u should upgrade ur pc 😛
Your job being revealed 🙂 good one mate lot of work Keep it up !! BEAUTY! LoL
Dave, here is a good idea,(I think)
How about when you do these live feeds of a mailbag….. why don't you have a Picture in Picture of the mailbag camera shot, yes it will be stopping and starting but we can see what you're talking about as you talk about it. /:D
Love this live vid, shows you the work involved for just a 30 min or so video.
looks like another great mail bag Monday, that last item looks pretty cool. the last item you called "x core" looks pretty neat, but didn't see it in the description. a little heads up, I would like to check it out. thanks Dave, mike
The lower audio quality is creating a discontinuity from your usual videos. Didn't you do a teardown of a better mic you had?
I like the live show, it's nice to see behind the scenes and it gives me some tips on making my own videos.
I don't know how you can do work without a laptop on your workbench. I'm always looking this up! But then again, I'm still somewhat of a noob.
You need a tablet for quickly looking up specs / datasheets?
I prefer your old vidio's, there is too much filming through a camera that does not seem to be connected. The Black one on the tripod. Too long as well.
E.G at 1.20 you are showing us a package but we cant see what it contains.
EEVblog when you are adjusting the legs on your tripod – could you not adjust the topmost rungs/clasps only? It would save you bending over each time 🙂
