Hi Well, eight milliliter Ee-vie Lung 1978 edition This is Dave Jones and this is episode One 1977 with a great year. That Star Wars movie with the teenagers Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher was so superb I Saw it so many times I figure getting an American accent if you are watching this real it is surely due to my 8 millimeter ad in the back of Popular Electronics. Thanks for buying with shipping and handling. You must be at least four to six business weeks into the future.

I Might even have my prototype Rocky complete ready to send to NASA Thank You of Popular Electronics ads. look at this one from two kids in California What is it with these guys? They're trying to sell Commodore business machine chips with their names on it. That's the 6502. It's the chip and all computers being made for homes these days if you ask me.

Commodore will one day rule the world. These Apple guys are just trying to hold the action, but their design is just rubbish. I Think we need to stay with their day job to heal it Packard if you ask me Rakoff I Can build the same computer twice as fast. four times the RAM and three times the character with let's go to the chalkboard and I'll show you.

Here's the basic layout I'll use. here's the 6502 CPU Here's 32k of RAM and let's have 256 K ROM next to the CPU will clock it with a 1.8 megahertz clock. We'll also need the CIA chips. The lead can communicate with this 8-bit baby.

Last believe, the few logic gates to control the traffic on the bus. The bus is just a term that lets you know the chips will share many wires. Each chip takes their carrion to transmit data through voltage cycles ie. riding the bus in a schematic.

We show it as one line, but in reality it's more like this: Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Now let's order those chips and wait for the mailbag. Welcome back to everyone's favorite segment Mailbag first. Well look red I Feel like I Look red I Just got through banging out pull-ups at the playground I Feel like I Look red? All right.

We have a package here. It's postmarked December 2017 It seems this company has come up with negative delivery dates. They can certain packages that have arrived in the past I wonder if Commodore owns them? The package is from the Raising Awesome YouTube channel. What's a YouTube That's some sort of space-age vacuum I Better open this thing.

The anticipation is killing me. That's not a knife, that's a knife. Now what do we have here? Some sort of futuristic rom programmer and a futuristic FTDI cable. It lets us talk to the computer through the CIA chip.

and here we have the chip data sheets. This is the CIA chip, This is the 6502, This is the EEPROM and this is the RAM. Let's go to the lab and so do this. board up.

and we use a perf board in these sockets that we can easily replace chips. Let's get to it. There we go. She's a beaut.

Here's the clock. The 6502, the RAM the ROM the CIA How about that bus wiring? What a beauty! Now for the fun part. let's program the ROM. We use our fancy programming.
The guys at Raising Awesome sent me, but I'll take the liberty to make this code my own by changing the boot up display text. Let's give it a burl, shall we? There we go. Press C4 a cold start. Just hit enter on memory limit to take advantage of all 32.

K of RAM We can give it a large terminal with even larger than those boys from California did. And there you go. Wait, Those dummy rats at Raising Awesome are messing with me. They put their name on it.

No worries, let's write our first program on this 8-bit computer. The good old Hello World! Hello! Dave 20 Goto 10 We have ourselves a state-of-the-art 8-bit computer that outshines the Apple one in every aspect. That's good oil. Now let's put it on the scope to show how fast it is.

Just took it to the clock in the ground. There it is. Winner winner chicken dinner. Whoa! what a crazy dream.

That's the last time I've been to watch Crocodile Dundee movies a go to bed with the monkeys on repeat. Better check my Raising Awesome channel to make sure I didn't post a crazy video. Cranky Bear was A wallop about knocked okay gorillas in the top paddock.

It really pissed me off cuz I thought this was Dave. Then I saw the Amazon box. I'm so upset by this. I stopped my bf who was busy to make him come watch this with me. Finding out it isn't Dave. Bullshit. I'm so mad I don't understand why. Unsubscribing.

Well, that was something different. I was wondering at first what he meant by the CIA peripheral until I realized he meant to say ACIA.
