In this video we find a couple of old 5 hp Flathead Briggs and Stratton Motors, one of them being a Raptor Racing Motor, and we rebuild them, hoping that we can make at least one running one to put on our 60's go kart. We were able to put one of them on the kart but before we could even drive it we blew out the old head gasket that we tried to reuse. So stay tuned for another video where we replace both head gaskets as well as actually drive the kart with them but they seem to be pretty dope little engines and they definitely match the look of the kart.

Just bore out the cylinder walls and put a oversized piston in it

The best way to hone is use an old school hand crank drill and a 3 stone home. A good cart engine builder can bore the cylinder and install a stainless steel sleeve.
A good way to seat the valves without removing the head is to pry up on the valve spring with a screwdriver and suddenly pull the screwdriver out.. takes care of any carbon issues around the valves.
Could you maby use a dingle ball hone?
the engine wont start unless if it is a a high rpm.

when i was a kid my dad gave me a mini hone meant for that block and i honed my 5hp block with no issues, but i remember it having a factory steel sleeve? It was a block from the 70’s. That motor made 12hp on alcohol back in the day, that kart was moving👌

Yea but that fly wheel wont usually turn over as many rpms as a predator 😂 buy a predator build it and it will have more power than any built 5hp flat head unless its from a true flat head builder still ohv engines make more power than a flatty

pretty sure the block for the raptor engine is shaved meaning higher compression possible even had some porting done. just saying that to let yall know
