Hi I'm going to take you on a behind the scenes tour of electronics 2014 Australia's biggest Electronics Show and uh, here it is. It's at the Fantastic Australian Technology Park and uh, there's that lovely building down there is Nicta that's the uh research uh group I think the government's pulled a whole bunch of funding from them bastards. anyway I thought I would uh shoot a behind the scenes thing if you haven't seen setting up one of these things before. Um, let's go through the back entrance, the loading dock and uh, sorry if the audio is, uh, not very good on this but uh, we'll see what happens.
So I'm uh, shoot here we go. You don't want me on camera? um yes it's the Australian Technology Park in the uh fantastic venue here. It's absolutely awesome. It's an old uh as you might have seen in uh previous.
I Have done a previous video on this and um, we maybe see some of the old Machinery but here we go. this is sort of behind the scenes. everyone's still setting up. It's the Tuesday here.
it starts tomorrow and toada there it is. eev Blog the amp hour there's me and uh yeah I do look I do look better in person. a bit taller than I expected though. H Anyway wo there we go.
almost got run over by the forklift and uh, here we go. Everyone's setting up and guys and it's uh, goes until 8:00 p.m. Tonight everyone's got until 8:00 p.m. and it starts at uh, 10:00 a.m.
uh tomorrow. So you know it doesn't take long to set up. These depends on how complicated your uh your stand is. but uh oh yeah? yeah yeah yeah.
let's see it's going to be a decent size shell again machinery for him. They got some great gear and there's Imona with all their Uh John South's Bugg it off I think he's uh, gone for the day. He set up all the Ryo gear. So Ntech Printed Circuits, Super Engineering I Got no idea what that that looks like a big baking oven or something.
No storage solution? Okay, no, it's one of those storage things. So uh, front entrance they're busy setting up. they got glass. Tricky.
There's Hammond with all their fantastic boxes and uh, here is some of the old machinery and cranes that used to be used here. So it is uh, part Museum and part uh conference? um Exhibition Center rhod and Schwarz busy setting up and National instruments don't spotted me. oh Lpkf, um PCB Mill they're very nice. We'll see that in action later and he call back.
Don't to get run over by the forky tectronics are here. There we go. They got some big expensive gear setting up and uh, if you're wondering what's out here, nothing really, it's just all the rest of the center. We've only used part of it.
I Mean that's a good thing about this. They can expand it as big as they want. really? So uh. but I Was lucky enough to score a booth They gave me one for free so that's very nice.
Vicom it was much busier before I think most people you know like Electronics there we go. Theyve like completely set up shop. they've gone home. they'll be back tomorrow and uh, you're allowed to come in at about 12 and uh, on the final day with the Thursday night it finishes at uh 5 or 5:35 I think um and you've got to be out by8 or something. you've got to be packed up and it actually doesn't take people long to uh, pack up. So there you go. and the uh surface mount Circuit Board Association is um, uh, upstairs there there. uh they were having the drinks and uh, all sorts of stuff up there before and there's uh Jim's standing.
Where is he? there's Jim there he is over there from Haw Richardson how you doing and uh, he's got some uh, all the Mantis gear and all the other stuff. so they're busy setting up for tomorrow and this is the main entrance where people will uh so it's an exhibition Hall they call it and uh yeah, they've got lots of other uh rooms around here which um you hire for the Uh surface mount Circuit Board Association Here we go, it's the VIP room. Let's go up to the VIP room and have a look and we'll be able to get a good view over the uh entire facility. And yes, I have to wear one of these orange vests.
It's all part of the Uh O ands requirements of course. and uh, there we go. They got free internet down there! Woohoo! awesome and uh some Machinery as you come in so it's a great venue. It really is terrific I love it.
And down in the Uh Cafeteria down there look at that big I don't know stamping machine or something I have no idea. uh here we go, let's go in and uh, we'll be able to see right over hi, hi, don't mind me and here we go. we can see over the entire Uh event. There we go.
everyone busy setting up so as you can see there is a Fair bit more room all the way over there. he's waving there we go, better get him on camera otherwise he might be unhappy. All right. and uh yeah, that's a behind the scenes uh look at setting up one of these.
yeah I think it was much busier before most people have, uh, gone home and there we go. we can get a good look at uh Hawker Richardson's uh, pornography down there. all the Mantis scopes. Love it! There we go.
Terrific! SOA paste dispensing machines, all that of jazz. There you go and that's it. So there you go I hope you like that little behind the scenes. uh tour of setting up.
So yes I've got my own stand and uh I'll have lots of freebies to give away and uh, stuff like that should be fun on for the next two days. I'm just going to be standing. Oh, it's pretty tiring after the two days you stand up for two days just talking shaking hands and doing all sorts of stuff. And yeah, you don't have time to eat, drink, scratch your bum, do whatever.
So there you go. Catch you next time.
Nice how he stops talking for a few seconds at the 1min mark. He's definitely checking out the blond! 😀
Great to have met you at the show Dave. Thanks for the goodies.
Ah, can get in anywhere with a high vis vest! 😀
I was quite surprised how good the audio quality was! Especially when you were looking direct at the camera. Much better than the G10 camera's mic I think. 🙂
How does the EEVBlog being at this, 'grow your brand'? Is it just about networking? Trying to get sponsors? Genuine question, not trolling.
Done a few trade shown in my time, always keep an eye out for those in a mad panic when something has been left at the office or suddenly decides not to work on the stand!

"No time to drink, eat or scratch yer bum!"
That's probably a good thing when shaking so many hands, you know where your hands been, but where have their hands been? 🙂
No motion sickness here btw.
That's some good image stabilization on that camera, I wonder if the flowy footage contributes to peoples motion sickness. I'm not sure if it exists but an omnidirectional mic would probably help with the sound quality of you speaking..
DAMN. I can't make it. I would love to meet you mate. Maybe another day.
Motion stabilization on your camera is stellar! That's the new one I'm assuming.
Looks exciting! 😀
Last time I was running a stall at this event I was approached by a Nigerian guy in full Nigerian get-up (and the worst BO I've ever smelt) looking to get some of our manufacturing done in Nigeria. As long as we paid an initial investment. Yup. A Nigerian scam IRL.
Wow you weren't kidding about the motion sickness! Very interesting and rare to see behind the scenes like this though.
I'm impressed by the fact that despite all this expensive gear lying around, there are almost no security people around (I could spot one lady with a walkie talkie, but that was it). So, theoretically, anybody could just walk in and snatch something. Ah, Australia must be a very peaceful country!
Looked more like 20FPS when rotating.
Thats all? Comparing this witch Munichs electronica, thats super super little.
Do people give you funny looks when you walk around talking to yourself? 😛
how these motion sickness guys even walk !!! common !
Wish I lived in Sydney! Adelaide, SA is so boring!
Good stuff man, you are a national treasure. The girl at the VIP desk was cute. 🙂
If only we had something like this in my country…
These videos always give me motion sickness for some reason..
