THANK YOU DAVE. I bought two BK PRECISION 2709B multimeters after you released this video. They have taken a shit kicking and still work perfectly to this day of July 9 2022.

Why you are buying too much meters… Its waste… Please send me one multimeter..

o my this is a nice little DMM video. 🥳 now watch your back with china down-under. 😳😦😨 great info. 😊 ps some of the cheapy flimsy tesy equipment works for years👌🐆🐬

Good day sir love your video i learned a lot from your amazing channel. Can the BK 2709B measure smd ceramic caps like in the phone and laptops and tablet and smd resistors/diodes please kindly reply to know if i should buy it looking forward to your reply. i was looking at the Fluke 115 Compact True-RMS Digital Multimeter but if the BK 2709B can do the same job for cheaper price then i will buy it one time.

thank you for this…I learned a lot…ended up buying a BK based on this

I know where all your beer money went. It is setting around in the lab being useful and entertaining. 🙂

OK, you should change your career, you convinced me, I just ordered a UNI-T UT 61D, please don't call me a di*k head…

Hello Dave I swear I like you and your reviews but I see you always feel annoyed about the uni-t and the other cheaper multimeters for the price they really did agood job please don't go so harsh like this calm down man 😁

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Little Clem says:

What is it about multimeters ? We love these things, Even after working for years in the electrical and electronics fields we still love these things…LOL
When I was in college we each had a Simpson 260 analog meter, and when the DMM's came out they were a god sent….

You make me piss laughing, "someone at extech was having a wank" 😂😂

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars C MJ says:

Why is it that no meter in the $100 range can test the voltage and light an LED like the more expensive FLUKE. I had to buy a $350 dollar meter just for that to work. It is really lame that you can't buy a cheaper meter that does this. If my meter didn't at 350 US it would get sent back. None of my cheaper units will do it either.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars mbaker335 says:

Always use the same probes for the continuity test and give them an aggressive clean first. Often proves have an anticorrosion coating when new. Having done the above many 'slow' meters become lightening fast.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alex says:

I have a UNI-T UT61E and it has 1kohm impedance at μA mode and 10 ohm at mA. How could be possible that the UT61D you show has only 50 ohm for μA and 0.8 ohm for mA? The E model is supposed to be better.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ohmeko Ocampo says:

It looks like out of all these $100 dollar DMMs that BK Precision is the beast of the bunch. That will be my first expensive meter. Thanks Dave! 🙂 I had the Elenco M2625 before so I'm graduating from the 50 dollar range.

Hi , I have Ideal 61-340 multimetere and have interesting problem – multimeter is not power on when temperature is low,
amount 15-18C (59-65F) . After 22C – I do not have problem. And I read manual that wrote 0-40C. Please help me advice.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars hernanc says:

How clever to brand a product "Ideal"! Every time Dave mentions the brand it seems to be the ideal thing to use! Lol!

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Navi says:

Could we do another shootout with the more expensive meters please ie, very high end.  Not interested in these low end or mid range ones since they always lacking in one thing or another.
Like to see the Japanese / American / French / German type high end meters shootout.

+EEVblog Thanks Dave, great video and product comparison. I am looking for a $100 range DMM and your comparisons have helped a lot. -b <—That means thumbsup! This video and your efforts took you some time and effort and is appreciated. Back in the '80's, I worked in repair maintenance in a factory and I used the Fluke 77. I accidentally dropped the 77 several times from the top of overhead (~30 Ft.) cranes while troubleshooting and it survived every time.

Based on the results of all the tests that you did, I would get the BK, which you also seemed to choose in your wrapup in Part 1.

    Thumb sideways. 😀

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars osmoregulator says:

Where is the wrap-up? Conclusion? Comparison sheet?

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jonathan says:

If a meter says it does unlatched continuity testing what does this mean and what are the benefits to latched testing?

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matthew Kidder says:

I have the Ideal 340 meter. Same functions as the 342 but not TRMS. I had the same Temperature reading problem until I looked close at the thermocouple. There are + and – signs by the jacks. Doesn't make sense but the temp function IS polarity sensitive.I use this as my secondary meter and love it.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mystickneon says:

I have that exact same Amprobe meter, but it has been rebranded as a "Meterman 34XR"… I am not impressed with the capacitance meter at all, especially in the low ranges. After a year of light use, a probe failed with an intermittent open somewhere. I don't have the problem of a loose connection with the probe sockets….. mine are very snug, and I had to press hard the first few times to break them in.
