Great video, very informative and hilarious 😀
I recently bought an Extech MN36. It's a little cheaper than the tested one, however, it does lay flat on the desk perfectly while turning the dial, AND it has a better stand. Pretty happy with it, as a simple throw around cheap multimeter.
Ex355 is the new standard in electrical/electronics DMMs. FLIR subsidiary great value imho
Slippery as a used car salesman… 🙂
Extech Ex330 is pure junk.
I got 1 .. way old 'Tektronix DMM 911' , Payed 20 more for factory calibration because i was factory bench tech for most all of the high-end audio then .. back when a real repair tech mattered.
Given its age .. how can i check its spec now at .01%?
Btw, CAT probes matter, High voltage insulation matters to the probes in your hand. The meter might be fine but if your probes suck .. it just arcs to you!
Never use crap !
Anyway i got my DMM 911 and a newer wongfuGa one and they dont agree to the same reading. I also used a few other meters and NONE of them agreed to anything i measured.
How do i know what one is correct?
Tnx (ICET Scott)
Error. factory cirt. was mostly 0.001% avg for my DMM 911 when i bought it new. (300 USD in old money). man im old.. 🙂
Honestly, I would stick to name brands even though it might be a cheapy. Extech is a great company along with amprobe and they seem great in terms of quality.
Dickhead scale on the end of video suffice me 😀
Beware of any multimeter that has a CE kite mark. It is used to fool you that it meets European standards which is signified by CE kite mark.
Who is watching this in 2021 and having a laugh?
Just bought the global specialist afther the Video thanks buddy!
What in the actual fuck.. this showed up as a new vido under my bell icon on YouTube. WTF YouTube.
It occurs to me that the GS started to fail on all things after the KV test. Maybe it isn't up to its claimed voltage rating and Dave blew the shot out of it?
Regarding the AA battery powered meters and cutoff voltage, remember those constant load drain curves on the battery datasheets and how the cutoff cliff pushes up as current consumption goes down? At ~2mA draw, 1.2V per cell is below a depleted cell's recovery voltage; the remaining capacity at this point is negligible.
man, you were so much ahead of your times with this comparison vids… it's incredible
I wonder if any of these are still being manufactured other than the VC99, it was the clear winner. I bought one after watching this video back in 2014 and mine still works like new and is as good as my fluke 87III
Got my extech 330 🙂 Thanks for your review! BTW. It has ceramic fuses now and switch rotates in better way than I noticed on your video 🙂
And here I thought “brick shit house” was just a saying here stateside
Should have (re) done this a week ago. I just picked up an AstoAI 6000 which gets pretty good reviews but could have used one from a pro.
I dont know why I watched this video. I only use quality tools, I would never have a need for a cheap multi meter. Just something about trying to destroy stuff I guess
Where is your esd strap….. you can cause Esd damage when you took it apart.
Can you speak slowly?
But I want that fancy transistor hfe test function, like the ones you find on all high end meters :PPP. Can we test multiple LEDs with these, diode test voltage range?
