Hello David L. Jones. I was always wandering how is possible to talk to any device using serial or lpt o rs232 and reprogram or most important to download (probably suppose to say READ and WRITE) anything that is possible to write. I am very interested in reprogramming old phone to make own graphical user interface. And the main question is what are main common commands to talk to any device or how to find these commands or what commands to send to learn, write down to paper what the device is capable of. So basically how to talk to any device without damaging it.
The devices I am interested in mainly are computer, bios, firmware – anything I can start to learn from.
I need to downgrade to sp2 version, do you have the file?

Updata Successed. All their base are belong to you! Do you think Rigol realizes that these products are exclusively sold to people who are the most equipped to hack them? None of their products are safe from the rouge EE community.
By this point RIGOL has to be aware people are 'upgrading' their scopes. I wonder why they made no effort to secure that. I have a DS1054Z which is now a DS1104Z after I applied the hack.
i wouldent recomend flashing like that the write erase cycle on nandflash chips is quite low and i wouldent want to risk a bad flashing and bricking my scope that would be an expensive brick!
Dear Dave, got in and altered D to B but Firmware 2.05 seems to lock out the upgrade. Could you please send me a link to download the downgrade so I can follow #77 fix. Can I upload the 2.05 to a USB stick prior to the downgrade or do I need to request a firmware upgrade from Rigol? Love your vids!!!!!!!

EEVblog I recently bought a DS1052E expecting to do the 100MHz mod but I was surprised that it won't let me do ANY firmware modifications AT ALL. I tried many many many firmware versions and I NEVER get an update dialog. It worked with my friend's 1052E but he had a firmware version around 2.04 but I saw that mine is 4.01. Did Rigol maybe get tired of people getting an 1102E for the price of a 1052E? Any tips on bypassing this? Thanks!

Great film. Is the ATTEN ADS1102CA 100Mhz Digital Oscilloscope DSO ADS1102 the same as the Rigol just under different branding? It's for sale $470 on ebay and I need a 100meg unit. Would consider the 1052E but cannot afford to get caught out. Any response would be appreciated.
Can the ds1052e export data in realtime to the computer as a text file I would like to use it as a DAQ (Data Acqusition) tool

I ordered from China, dealextreme, saves me £120, but I guess the warranty is worth the price.
@crippled82 Ordered from a test equipment company in UK. This was a brand new shipment of scopes that had just arrived, so you might be lucky and get a 2.04 if yours comes from existing stock in your country. I could have ordered direct from China and saved time and money, but I wanted a 3 year UK guarantee.
Perhaps it has an undiscovered JTAG or USB port on the CPU to access the flash memory.
