Another drive time rant about the tools and processes I use for video blogging, video formats etc.
No electronics content, so if you don't like that then don't watch.
Good insight Dave. I have just started making some video's for my forum.
What PC are you using? I am using a P4 2.6Ghz and it certainly seems to struggle!
@cr99991
I'm stuck with using Bigpond cable Internet. It's pretty darn fast at up to 30Mbps download, but uploads are capped at 1Mbps.
Bigpond also deliberately throttle Youtube, the bastards!
Average blog is probably 300MB in size.
@GeorgeGraves
My audio problems aren't my mic, the RodeVideo mics capable of amazing results. My lab has lots of acoustic problems, and the car really needs a lapel mic.
I feel your pain Dave – I'm a video editor. You're doing a very good job with what you have to work with and time constraints.
I did have to LOL at your exclamation about HUGE 2-3 gig files.
I would like to see you get a better shotgun. Sennheiser ME-66 on a mic stand just out of frame will sound amazing. You'll need a box to convert from XRL to mini jack your camera will accept. If you are looking for a lav, look at countryman.
Hey Dave about the bug you talk about in Youtube, people is posting the problem to youtube in the new "ideas" page for partners to make a publish button that will let you publish it whenever you want. If you have any good idea you should post it there.
Hey Dave, Great insight into the 'gauntlet' that you and many other great youtubers have to endure. It's really a major effort, and I'm sure all your viewers appreciate the effort that you take. I might just have to watch this one again though as I think your mobile was acking away in the background and I was back & forth thinking it was mine on the charger ๐
Good to hear you mention Handbrake also. Excellent program!
I found Linux was good with Handbrake etc. but probably best not go there..
Dave, what internet service do you have? How large are the files you upload to youtube? I have heard that Australia has very expensive/capped internet, have you ever had problems with uploading large files?
I really like that Dave always advertises up front when there is no electronics engineering content in the blog.
get yourself a mac.

Love that GSM Dip Diddle noise…. LOL
Screws up some of my videos from time to time, also.

Yes, the buzzing sounds were the mobile phone. I've done a blog on that one.

Glad to help if you have any questions.
