Hi Yes! I'm at the 2014 Mini Maker Faire here in Sydney I thought I'd take you on a behind-the-scenes tour of the set up. We're not open yet, but let's go. This is the Turbine Hall the main hall where it all happened. So whoa down we go and uh huh there's Marcus Little Bird Good mate, you're here somewhere we'll find you all right? Yes, that's Marcus from Little Bird Electronics and he's got to stand here and people busy setting up.

This stuff looks really interesting. all our handmade stuff guys excellent handmade furniture. looks brilliant thank you and you've even got like tools and an ax down there. Also great stuff.

It opened in 45 minutes. good luck! And of course we have the requisite MakerBot Replicator 2x and it looks like we have arts and crafts stuff. kids stuff. really nice.

Oh and we've even got a breadboard look at that! There we go Sparkfun stuff and in move our back with their robot with their 3d printed robot. Looks awesome. same as last time. Any improvements? Oh oh yeah.

I thought that was different. Yeah that looks nice I Like it does it do either. It's just cycles through three different colors, just just animate a moment just on a rainbow video I've been ready to control over. Oh nice.

Second division excellent. Good luck. Yeah. Roll under unpacking their 3d printers.

Awesome laughs. Drop by and check it out Guys commercial stuff and the Cartesian guys are here. Smile! This is behind the scenes stuff and and Jonathan oxa from our free tronics. He was here but he was hungry Came all the way from Melbourne I don't blame him and he buggered off to get some breakfast and here we are wearing the space section.

Those show I showed you this last time so no need to redo it. Oh there's Marcus Little Bird Stand I Yeah I know he's not here. yeah we saw him on the way up. Hey guys! Oh nice.

come by and check that out later. Justin Behind the scenes, set up and sure they're setting up and the rowboat dojo is here. Ah yes, Are we going to have some combat robots? Are we? Yeah, this looks like fun. Alright a busy setting up.

only got 45 minutes left. Guys 40 get crackin' and it's pretty impressive the all the stuff they have hanging from the roof I Do enjoy it and we are 45 minutes away. I'm going to set up some time lapse stuff as well. Perhaps we'll see, but I got that last year.

There's the science exhibit down in there and the computer stuff as I've shown you before. And yes, there is an Apple One computer here. somewhere. there is an Apple One.

It was here last time. they've changed the museum around. There's a Sinclair ZX 8000 classic Sinclair ZX 8000 Yeah they're the old head. This is the one where the young Apple computer was because there's the was today was have to come on.

The air power was and there's the old Terra 8800 and the Apple the Apple one was here before it was on loan at Trs-80 normal 100 I'll have to actually given 1. I've got two of those so I'm sure they've got one in their exhibits. So where are the apple one is gone? Yeah, sorry guys. got some tubes there.
we go. It's all happening. There's a Mars yard, there's little up Mars rovers and stuff like that Go in their areas. it's all up there is ready to roll.

The kids come in and have a great time on that. So anyway, the museum is absolutely well. It's not huge in the worldwide scheme of things, but they do really well for the small amount of relatively small amount of space they got. I mean if you compare it to, you know I've been to like the you know, the Science Museum in London and that sort of stuff.

and get a there's the Wheels who were the cockroaches And there we go. this is. I'm not sure if they got outdoor stuff this time. All it's a bit chilly here today and no, it's just registration.

They don't actually have any. They had dust stalls out here last time, but they don't. This time has changed around. There's me.

oh, just holding my tripod and holding so that's how I could take the lift. Yeah, let's go on the glass lift. Let's go on the glass lift. Here we go.

Let's go right up to 4 shall we? and I doing I Love glass lifts. They're great fun and we're We're done. We go up, we go on up. There's plans hanging from the ceiling.

They've got a Strictly Ballroom exhibit with all the Strictly Ballroom stuff. If you ever seen the movie, the Australian movie, Strictly Ballroom and we're up and there's more this way it's a pretty much a labyrinth and that's a one of the joys of having the Maker faire here in the Powerhouse is that they scatter it all throughout the powerhouse. So there we go. We've got some more stores down there.

There's the open ROV stuff which I've done last time and more stuff happening down in there right there we go. Try up. when you X 20 zoom look at that huge ass 3d printer there and let's try my zoom. sorry I'm just geeking out here There we go look at that.

That's not bad. I'm a long way away and that's doing really well. That's the X 20 zoom on the Canon Hf G30 so there's more stuff in here. Make your own ego wall.

nice bebot change means they're setting up with it all. Kid stuff great, looks good, looks busy. This is for the little kiddies. Oh let's go primary school.

Oh you come a long way from let go. Awesome! Thanks! All right Okay, excellent, well done. Enjoy! You've only got about 30 minutes left. Lots of had more hair made design stuff.

third dimension Wow Tons of stuff. Is anyone here yet? Here's the entrance to the Powerhouse Museum and no nobody's art lining up yet so hope people turn up shall. I Will was a success last year so no reason why it wouldn't be a success this year. The Oopsah Torium I'll have to take you on a tour of the auditorium actually.

I should do that before everyone turns up back in Willy Wonka's glass elevator again and I want to go check out this the Interface of People Machines design I Don't know, it looks really interesting. it's not open yet I Love it when I'm allowed in the Powerhouse Museum. when still open, it's great it is. So by the way, there's some of the stuff from Strictly Ballroom if you're into if you haven't seen the movie, it's a famous Australian na one and it's all about dancing and fancy gowns and they got like tons of them.
You know, absolutely tons of gowns here. Sorry, this is not exactly. You're on topic to the EV blog and there you go there showing that strictly boring. there's a poor mercurio teaching her how to dance.

Yes I have seen it. It is a chick flick but you know I'm Australian so I've seen Strictly Ballroom and let's go around here and with that's the bio hack. Sydney and the electric cars are back so they're busy setting up. but the electric van I showed you last time and we got more stuff in here.

Haven't been in here? yes. and ID shop looks interesting. Well I'm gonna beat you into a row. Hey there's go hey Gavin Smith Everyone knows em.

G'day mate. Good shooting some behind-the-scenes set up Oh Alex Alex Box fame and there. yet there's the Alex pot. Again, its back.

Any improvements? Oh not really. I've in big mouth? cool but cool. Yeah. Pesky school? yeah I know-oh-oh into on board.

Yeah. Nice. Excellent. So it's a yeah, It's all scattered around at the moment.

Yeah, it's all. it's all good. Strunk down too. Yeah, that right.

Awesome. And give. what do you got on display here? Octo your cotton. This is your coffee table.

It's a role. Do that. That's scary. This has actually got the guts of a laser covering.

so it's got a two-axis XY table underneath. Yep, I'm driving that through the Pc and then it just has two very powerful magnets and its director. Ross happens your back Fantastic! I Like it all right. I'll be back later I'll probably do some footage on it and there we go.

A little remote-control truck huge Intel and what else we got blinding Amanda Leads I Don't want to know that would be here with a switch it on its dance revolution Tetris Two plants at risk game to play Derek Actress fight computerized song Oh yes I Say that. Yep. I Saw that last time. That was excellent.

No, you definitely got our lesson. You built this is a right to move it around. Oh okay. all right.
yeah, of course you can crank it and it's been programmed to only allow it to stick when the needle is up. So right. nice. later.

later on today we'll demo it. Will be back. All right guys. Have fun! Villo Scape Version 6: I Have no idea.

Climb on the bike a touch sensor banister, fingers and press the button on the controller. Ah I Have to come back. Its uses galvanic skin resistance and does something. tells you how hard you work in ID Shopper got I think they're all along here.

They've got many different, maybe handcrafted designs. The solidify group is yes I was Barry by hey guys Ed one that's a kick-ass squad. All right nice. I'll be back later guys to check it out.

Just doing some behind the scenes that looks neat so you've used them as the prop protectors and the landing platform. End of the and the tool and a nice. I like that and it drives. Oh dear.

Ok, but and it drop. Excellent. Wow. So I can just land and drive exactly.

Ah, Brilliant is looming. Oh here we go. We're going to get an impromptu you demo impromptu demo. Here we go.

Will that work? No, it's the White Coat syndrome. Here we go. Yep. puppets.

that's sweet. Nice work. And I guess we can't fly it in here. Probably spin up the motors, spin up the motors.

I'm curious to find out what this Sir People Machines design actually is.

Let's go in and check it out and nobody's here which is terrific. I see like an old terminal or something like that. so let's go in and he'll look. We've got die form ornament.

mm-hmm don't quite get it. Ah Warren Designed some old brawn radios. Look at that. Wow anyone remember a foreign radio like that? some Clara goodness that is ancient olive.

Eddie There you go Was a small family business establishing the first decade of the 21st century and all these Olive Elite Olivetti Typewriters classic. For those into their typewriter pawn, there's plenty on display Here are that's just. we're got an adding machine. Could you through Will they called calculators back then? Probably not some old phones art and design that's an IBM is an IBM a radio or some such.

That's bizarre. It's a dictation. It's a dictation machine. I Think yeah it is.

Oh, it's a HP 9100 No. I So I didn't know they had one in their collection. They obviously dug that out. Or maybe they've got it from somebody else's collection.

I'd love to get one of those. Do a tear down on the older HP 90 100 and that's an IBM 2250 display unit. Wow Look at that. is that a light pen.
I Think there might be a light pen, but that is. look a huge thing. It's absolutely enormous. That's an that's it.

You know an old IBM data center. Are they always one of those Apple cube things? Yep. and we got ourselves in the game Boy. Well, and and of course the Imac.

Original Apple one desired by the was of course and you know this wasn't somebody's put it inside a briefcase. And yeah, this one is like these things go for like half a million bucks. It is a prized exhibit no doubt. Okay I House museum don't own I Do believe it is on loan? Yeah.

Please keep doing the tear downs, and especially enjoy the old stuff you call ancient.
It is amazing how fast electronic technology has changed to fast. But all those antiques must be saved for the future. To show and teach the next generation what is was like in the past. Your videos are great, and inspire the young and old, like me.
    Thank you!
