Why did you left full time job and shifted to full time youtube?

I learned to tell people I was a dustman, something that they might have some respect for. Also it allows me to avoid having to turn down TV/radio repair jobs.

10 years after release these videos are great for me as an electronics student looking for a job.
    Thanks Dave.

Heck Id rather spend a week fixing a TV than try to explain what I actually do haha.

So what DO you actually do Dave?
    :p

    – Can you fix my TV?

    – Since you work in a bank, can you print me some money?

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Samantha Kerridge says:

A guy I worked with was an ex TV repair man, he was amazing like 6th sense for faults and used to tease the design engineers because they struggled to find faults. but he admits design is out of his area of knowledge a mutual respect was had and good bit of ribbing

One mistake i've made was repairing a computer. It needed a new power supply unit which could handle more power than the previous one.
"My computer screwed up. My files are missing." Yes, if you replace a psu your files will magically disappear, according to a family member. I've never repaired a computer since then, except my own stuff.

OOOO Dave sir i thought it only happens here in India but i am shocked its same in Australia. i thought people are more educated in Australia than India. If somebody asks me what is your profession i simply tell them "have you ever seen those green boards in every electronic device" if they say "yes" then i say "i create them" then there reaction is "hm ok ok" then the topic is over. But it hearts sometimes normal people don't know what we do. NOT EVEN MY MOM UNDERSTANDS. My mom call my every circuit "black chip".

I always have to explain that electrical engineers aren't electricians and I'm not going to wire their house for them.

thats why we have a meme for every aspect what we studied for and related to what our society think – what our parents think – what our friends think – and what we actually think.. as EE i faces on same problem too. but i just can ignore my friends asking for help. as long as i can do it.

maybe we have some mistaken back days. like we think the fashion designer is same like a tailor right??

well this problem will never be solved, as every single person have their own speciality, that others dont understand.

and sometimes when me and my fellow EE talking about our project, and my friends beside me said "please use a human language" or "i knew u are using a same language as mine. but i just dont understand what are you talking about"

well i said " we are engineer, we solving problem that might you dont realize/didnt know that was a problem, in a way you dont understand, like a hand phone. back days people never know or care about cellphone, but now days some people just can't lived whitout handphone right. so its natural you dont understand what we were talking about. it involves a lot of engineer to do that, from communication protocols to hardware designing" and they starting to amaze us LOL

Back when I fixed PC's for a living; I used to just say "I cast magic spells and incantations."
At least people more easily understand "I fix computers". But it was always good for a giggle :3c

A year or so after I graduated in EE, my aunt asked me to come over to see if I could fix her VCR. While I was troubleshooting it, my cousin asked how I knew what to look for.
My Aunt promptly said "That's what he went to school for" I was speechless.
