So amprobe really Screwed it up. I have the original Wavetek Meterman and is real fast in every way. Continuity in TTL mode is extremly insane fast. It has only 2000 counts and no back light but´s a really good meter. Still working from 1993. No fading display, no weared knob, no cracks Is really a Tank.
I'm going to second David Fox down below. The recent reviews and camera footage are massively improved, and it'd be nice to get a rundown of how good the input protection, voltage reference, etc are.
My 9yo 38XR just lost 3 ranges this week. Diode, mA and degrees F. Screen goes blank. Bugger! Have you guys seen the price of Meterman stuff now? AUD $470 – $500- might as well get HP or Fluke.
I have a 34XR and I am very satisfied with it. I might purchase the 37XR for the addition of inductance measurements, as that will save me having a discreet meter for that function. I see they added a REL function, as well. Awesome!
Dave, I bought one of these and I am happy with it, apart from the continuity issue. Maybe it is the probes? Also i bought a fuse the other day, 10A 500VAC and came back here to listen to what fuse is the big one. Sorry, but I can't understand what fuse you say that lives in there :-/
Hmm I would be interested if this review could be redone in more detail as the eevblog has become extremely detailed. And this could definitely use the better reviewing skills you have acquired (or the amprobe 37xr/38xr) Plus I am curious about the supposed logic check this has.
Thanks for the review, I just got a Meterman 37XR on eBay for $80! It should be a significant upgrade to my chinese mastech my-68. Have you seen the DSO Nano 1mhz color pocket oscilloscopes for under $100? I ordered one of those recently on eBay as well
My 37XR reads low on OHMS. Unfortunately, it's not a calibratible function on this meter. Funny to watch Dave in his early years. 👍
Can you review Wavetek 39XR
Been watching your newer videos on O-scopes. You've come along way 🙂
Hi Dave, Any chance of a link to these fuses, I can't find anywhere.
Thanks

I am planning for buying 37xr-a, I need 2nd DMM for Voltage + Current measurements and it has induction selection that I am missing at the moment.

willthegreat90, he said 'burden voltage', not burn voltage, which you can google for, fluke has a webpage that tells you more than i can
in fact, both Fluke and Amprobe are divisions of Danaher Corp.
EEVblog is like having a friend that actually knows what there talking about 😀
Sure you can if you want to. Its just a nice feature that lots of people use to speed up making measurements.
@pmr1973 Meterman was bought by Amprobe, and the A model is the latest, so get that if you can. Don't know the differences off-hand sorry.
@sovietic0 Amprobe bought meterman recently as far as I know. And amprobe simply set their own labels on products of meterman.
Hey Dave I noticed logic mode can be used to give a really fast continuity check function
The DSO Nano is a toy. See video #86 for my take on it.
