What have those wacky Germans been up to?

You are so much fun to watch and listen to. Great review.
😂😂😂💪
What I love the most about it (next to the input shutters): I can log data for what feels like FOREVER. I you set the logger intervall to anything above 1 Minute, it automatically switches off to save power and switches back on to take a reading and save it. I think I ran it for more than a week on the first set of AA-batteries and they still are more than half full. No DC adapter needed at all!
Hi mate, do you have a idea to make a power meter ??
I have some supercapcaitors and I would like to measure them ..
NIce video… as usual!!
One expensive chicken dinner.
Why would you want the screw inserts to be metal? Since the screws are so close to the inputs, I think it's a nice security feature to use plastic instead of metal. It can't be a coincidence that Fluke and Gossen both use plastic in a high-end device.
Back in the 1970,s made real classy stuff GMH R & D section total over killfor perpose
Hi Dave. Please tell me about the Gossen Metrawatt M206A multimeter. When was it first introduce in the market and how good is it compared to the Fluke 87 V ?
I think Dave just saved me some grief(… and some dough as well) along the way. I stick with Fluke.
Hi Dave, you missed one information of Dranetz: It's not a brand name that the guys of Metrawatt choose. It's the name of a company (US-based) which Metrawatt took over in 2007.
Hi Dave, first of all thank you for your shared experience, but the "USB-cable" is NOT a USB-cable only. It is an optical coupler with an USB cable at it for further connections if needed. The coupler contains an electronic device that transforms the IR signals in electrical signal and then a processor to transform these signals in USB conform signals. That make sense to make sure your PC or whatever you connect via USB is galvanically isolated from the multimeter. I never ever would connect a multimeter with a PC during measurments! But I think you know that, don't you? ; – ))) And btw, the USB adapter costs 250 bucks….not 500 !
this meter cost $600?!! omg omg omg
Oh that's hilarious about the temperature probe. I even got it in the package with my cheapo $40 multimeter haha.
In Germany nothing is for free. We are quite penny-pinching. Thats why you do not get a 2€ temp sensor with your 1000€ multimeter. But the meters are great.
LOL – The switch- sound is composed by our german,s Composer Johann Sebastian Bach 😉
Made in Germany means superior quality <3
I love any Made in Germany & Made in Japan Multimeter.
I have 3 of those mm from 200to 1500 usd and yes they are good but for measuring generator voltage and frequentie they sometimes trip and go in a kind of error mode sometimes need a reset battery. lucky owner of a fluke 75 and 45 and wil say they are more stable. Love the protective inputs on those meters if you cannot use the bus you cannot reach it. they are good but yes expensive. The measuring leads are shit absulotely shitt order some leads from fluke for make a perfect combination the leads go in high resistance after afew months use and it happens to all 3 of my meters. The banana spring looks like to be the problem but i am not happy with them. They also not realy fit in most adapter probes like klamp or needle extensions. Measuring in terminals is impossible with those leads. Yes the mm are high quality and easy to use the leads are in the direction of chinese garbage bin food. For that amount of money the leads must be better i think.
Had a quick look for Fluke 87 and they all seem around the price of this thing and more, and then a lot more.
I got really sad with this equipment… And even more with the Gossen Metrawatt!!!
I bought the Metrahit Energy for my company for use as low power AC measures. The equipment has several interesting functions and I got really glad with my new purchase until happened a really sad situation. Less than 1 month after purchase, I accidentally shorted the input current scale with 110v, and of course had blown the fuse. After I replace it the current measurements just shown totally wrong values.
After sent to the Brazillian reseller and they didn't found any problem, they contacted the factory engineers and they just replied that the warranty doesn't cover bad usage of the equipment and can't do anything for it.
I got really surprised that I have to throw out a 1000 euros equipment with less than 1 month for a short circuit on input. It was not the first time that I blow a fuse, but even on cheaper multimeter the fuse works good and really protect the equipment.
In German, X-Tra would be pronounced "Icks-tra", that's maybe where the confusing nomenclature comes from. That's again a german thing, if they had known they'd sell worldwide, they'd maybe thought about that (probably not though). Same thing with knipex pliars, germans will know
As far as I understand, A stands for Amateur (what this is clearly not though), E for Enhanced. By hanging an E in front of the meter (except for the pro, which becomes the Especial, because Epro is copyrighted), you get the same meter just better. S stands for Special, which are meters adapted to a specific use.
The Starline series are as I understand all the meters that use that same housing or shape, so the A, E and S series. This means that in the Starline series, you can exchange the holsters, infrared adapters and other accessories. So if you buy all Gossen Metrawatt meters (collect'em all), it will eventually have made up for the cost of that plug
your the best!
You are killin' me Dave!! very great vids!
eh?
I-hope-to-get-one-for-Christmas…..Right!
I'm-sure-it-must-be-nice-to-have-in-the-kit-bag-though.
Hi Dave just wondering if you could do a accuracy test on the DM-620 Multi Meter,no one on here has done anything on this yet. 🙁 i am curious to see how it stands up. Thanks mate.
Do the fluke probes or any other fine-head probes work for the thing? I don't really like the probes that comes with the meter either.
5 years after this review this meter now costs US$613 plus postage or AUD$825 locally. I might have bought one at $499, but this is just getting crazy!
