Dave compares the new PICkit 3 to the old PICkit 2, and, well, he starts to rant uncontrollably about how Microchip may have screwed this up...
And what do MBA managers and dickheads have in common?
UPDATE: Be sure to watch Microchip's hilarious video response! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YUvlrVlNao

THEY ARE IDIOT! you are correct. 2016 mcc easy to use, mid 2021 they changed GUI, 6 months later they change it again pretty mess I feel. Microchip has no designer but programmers.
Im glad to know the hate for management is universal.
Again you easily found the flaws in what They did. I will look for pickit2.
the good old Original Dave with crickets in the background
A change in direction can make or break a company, now this is one company that won't exist in 5 years, the writing is on the wall.
I have used this for a micrcontroller course and its a pain… they make us code in assembler (WHY i don't know) and then upload the shitty code with this pickit
Please review the MPLAB Snap.
Oh look! The successor to the PICkit3 is called MPLAB PICkit4. We're clearly been bamboozled.
The more I watch this guy I realize that he's my "Brother from another Mother" I think we have to get together and do some elegant solutions. I HATE how corps. hijack engineering talent and dumb it down to "what Marketing dictates"…. Ugg. Sigh….
7 sec. vs. 5 sec. It's slower due to the additional Bloatware… um, I mean firmware…
#1 reason I don't ever want to touch PIC's is due to MPLAB, not only is it always broken in some new way – but you get to pay a large pile of money for compilers that are ripped from gnu tools
Ive broken my last 8 chips with the pickit3….. im going back to using ICD…. you explained my frustration, it cant program an already programmed chip… imagine that
Your theory sounds viable. Often when companies get acquired, there is a series of massacres that make for a very unpleasant work environment. So, maybe those guys will go start a company. They could just bring the old product back since they no reason to revise it anyway.
wonder if he did a review on the new 4. i always buy the previous if i can. still covers most chips and who can blame me, its 10 bucks in china 😛 . funny to see that review XD
Nothing to learn here , just an hysterical guy who hates PICkit 3 . You should rename this video "dont buy PICkit 3"
Why?! You idiots! Hahaha
Thank you very much for the information. the compani is very stupid to change the programming.
How to pick up a cat ID microchip number signal From metres away
Damn i bought a pickit3
Why youtube didn't recomand this video before?
For ICD2, you also have to download different firmware (Microchip call it Operating System) to the ICD2, when you change your target device family. It's just how Microchip is doing their shit. Not sure about PICKit2 and ICD3
PIC is the biggest piece of SH*T created. Everything is "fancy" as in "non-standard". 24 bit instructions? WTF? Phantom bytes? WTF? Not even the toolchain is any good. Debugging support is horrible. Standard tools never work. Every single customer that switches to ARM will be a happy customer ever after.
I had to make a decision between buying a Pickit 2 and a Pickit 3. I've been around the block enough to know that newer is not always better.
This video helped me make the right decision.
I have since used the Pickit 3 and can attest from first hand experience, that it is a piece of fucking shit. I will tell you what I like about it though: absolutely nothing.
