This video is an initial guide of how to get your handy facts up and running and a step-by-step demonstration of how to use use the many impressive features of Handy facts.

It is recommended that you first view the short video all the way through and then watch it again, pausing the tape when necessary and following the steps on your handy facts. You may also wish to stop the tape and refer to the user's manual for more detailed explanations than we'll be covered in this brief video. Handy Fact is powered by four standard AAA Alkaline batteries and has a backup Lithium battery. The four AAA batteries are supplied and can be found in Handy fax's cardboard packaging.

Near the batteries is a plastic converter for the backup Lithium battery. save this converter ring, but you'll only need to use it later if you use a smaller Lithium battery than the one supplied. The unit comes with the Lithium backup battery already installed to conserve the battery's life. The unit has been packed with an insulating strip in the Lithium battery compartment.

On the left hand side of the unit is the screen contrast setting. If the knob is turned right down, you won't see any display on the screen. Turn the rotary knob to bring up the display and adjust the contrast to your preferred setting. The display will notify you when the batteries are weak.

First, press the time key and the display will show the time and date. If the time and date aren't correct, press the space key and the unit will prompt you to enter a new date.

Enter the date exactly how it is requested on the screen, first by the month, then the day, and finally the year. If it's July enter the number s for the 7th month and then press the Full Stop Key. Next, enter the date if it's the 25th, press the two and then the five and then press the Full Stop Key. Finally key in the year for example 1 1994 for 1994 and then press enter to record this new date.

Now you asked to enter the correct time typee in the hour first followed by a full stop and then the minutes. Type in an A if it's A.m or P for P.M To record this time, press enter and the new time and date will appear. Anytime you want to check the time or date, just press the time key. A fax header is the text that will automatically appear at the top of every fax you send.

A fax header normally shows who a fax came from, their contact numbers when it was sent, and page numbers. To set up your fax header, press the yellow function key followed by the letter H type in your name or the name of your company. Enter a few spaces, then type in any contact phone numbers. Press enter to store this information.

times, dates, and page numbers will automatically be generated when faxing. to protect all of your valuable business information, A password can be assigned to Handyct. once you set a password. every time you go to use the unit, you will first have to enter the password.

If you choose to use a password, you must remember exactly how you first entered it. If you forget your password, you won't be able to use your handy facts. You'll have no alternative but to erase all your stored information in the memory by removing all the batteries and starting over again. To enter a password, press the function key and then press the P.
The display asks you to enter a new password. It can contain up to seven characters. After typing in your password, press enter. Your password is now installed.

Each document entered in notepad should be given a name so you can find it from Handy Fax's memory at a later date. You may also need to fax the same document again.

Your title name can contain up to eight characters. When you have finished typing in the title for this document, press return and the cursor will move to the next line, the fax number, type in the receiver's fax number, and then press enter. This takes you to the next screen headed your mem. It is here you type in the message to be faxed, type as you normally would, but there's no need to press return to go to a new line.

Notepad has Auto word wrap that automatically starts a new line when required. Page breakes will also be automatically inserted when a new page is needed. To voluntarily start a new line, just press return and the cursor moves to the next line. Press function, then return to voluntarily start a new page.

Some other important keys to remember when entering text include the shift key pushing shift before any character will make that letter a capital by pushing cap lock. All characters typed will be capitals. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor up and down and across lines. Backspace will arase the character one space to the left of the cursor, While delete will arase the character in the current cursor position function.

Then delete will arase a complete line. When you have finished entering your message, press enter and your message will be automatically stored in Handy Fax's memory. The unit will have entered the quick fax mode and is ready to transmit the message. The cursor will be flashing and prompting you to press send to start the the transmission.

But before you can send the fax, you must first attach the fax to a telephone, pop up the acoustic couplers by sliding the release buttons, then pick up the phone handset and listen for the tone to make sure you have a line. Next, place the handset on the acoustic couplers. The mouthpiece of the phone fits over the large round coupler and the phone's earpiece fits over the small coupler. When the phone is in position, press the send button to transmit the fax.
Handa will automatically dial the number you earlier entered in and then send the message. The display on the screen will show how the transmission is going and let you know it was sent by displaying completed handy facts Can also be connected directly to a phone line. Just attach the phone lead from the back of a phone into the jack on the side of the unit. Now you can fax without using a phone.

The notepad can also be used for storing any other information you may wish to enter. Just give the document a memo title as before, but there's no need to enter a fax number, type in the info you wish to store, and then press enter. So in summary, to send a fact, press notepad to enter the notepad mode, enter a title for the document, press return, and enter the receiver's fax number, Then press enter to get to the your memo screen and type in your message. When you have completed the message, Press Enter, connect Handy Fact to a phone, and then press send.

Because mobile phones don't generate a dial tone, you need to manually dial to send a facts using Handy. Once the message is ready to send, manually, dial the number on your mobile and press the phone send button, Then press send on the Handy listen to the phone and when it starts to ring, press send on the Handy Fact again. Now, place the phone on the acoustic couplers. When Handy hears the fax tone, it will then transmit the fax.

Use this same manual dialing process when using any non-touch tone phone. Handy Fax has been carefully designed to work with most handsets and mobile phones. When faxing, it is important that the Handy Fact mouthpiece is centered on and right up against the mouthpiece of the phone. The Phone Book feature of Handy PX allows you to use Handy as an electronic phone book storing and retrieving up to 5,000 entries to add a new name and number to the phone book. Simply press Phone Book and you are presented with the Phone Book entry screen. The cursor is flashing after name prompting you to enter the name of the new entry.

Entries will be listed alphab ially from the first letter. so you may wish to type in surnames, first, type in the name, Then press return to go to the next line. After typing in the phone and fax number, press enter and this new information will be stored in the phone directory to retrieve a stored name or number. First Press Phone Book Then press the up or down arrow keys to get into the directory.

Use these keys to search through your directory in alphabetical order. For a quick search, Press Press Phone Book. Enter the first few letters of the name you wish to find, then press the up or down key and Handy Fact will locate the number for you to delete an entry, place the cursor beside it, and press function followed by delete. As a safety precaution, the unit prompts delete record yes or no, press Y for yes to delete the record, or N for no to cancel.

The Aex Book is where you can store any extra number information that you might need when using Handy BS The Fex Book is a good place to store area codes, country codes, calling card numbers, and any personal identification numbers. If you spend a lot of time traveling and faxing overseas numbers, having this information at your fingertips will save you time and money to use the Fix book, press Fix and then enter the name of the code. then enter the number. Finally, press enter and this information is stored away.

To retrieve numbers from the AIX book, Just press AIX and use the arrow keys to search through the directory for a quick search. Enter the name and press an arrow button just as you would in the phone book mode. You can use the scheduler in Handy PS to store all of your appointments and important events. When you have arrived at the correct month, use the four arrow keys to move the cursor up, down, or across to the day you wish to enter the appointment, place the blinking cursor over this day, and then press date. The next screen will be headed scheduler, followed by the date you just selected, and a time and task entry. use. Return to move the cursor to the timeline and enter the time of the appointment.

Some of the main keyboard keys can also be used with the calculator. Check the manual for a list of these. Depending on the phone, you can either dial a number manually or let the the Handa Auto dial to Auto dial. You must be using a touch tone phone.

This is easy to test by just picking up the phone handset and pressing any key. If you hear a tone, it's a touch tone phone to use. Auto dial to send a previously enter document, Press the fax key. the fax sending display will appear prompting you to enter the document's memo, title, search through the entries to locate this document, and then press enter.

You'll automatically be sent back to the fax screen screen before sending. You may need to enter any area codes or country codes on the prefix line and any suffix numbers. When all the information is correct, connect Handy Fact to a phone and then press send. Handy Facts will automatically dial and transmit.

The Fact handy let you enter numbers to be Auto dialed that include pauses and stops. These are helpful if you are Dialing for an outside line or if you using calling card numbers where you need to wait a few seconds between entering numbers. Refer to the user's manual for explanations of these Advanced functions. Handy Facts should work well if you follow these and further instructions from the user's manual.
However, due to the wide range of phone systems and the quality of some lines around the world, there are some things you should be aware of. when you have the choice, it's best to attach handy facts directly to the telephone line. This gives the best connection and quickest transmission speed. Sometimes a fax transmission may be cut short when using the acoustic couplers.

Try to fax from quiet areas where possible. If Handa stops in the middle of a transmission and displays no dial tone, retry by pressing send again. If that doesn't work, try to get a better connection by removing the mouthpiece coupler and holding it against the telephone mouthpiece. You could also try using the manual dialing method as used with mobile phones.

If Handy Facts displays noisy line, it's best to try and find a place to attach Handy Facts directly to a phone line. If that's not possible, try holding Handy Facts in your hand or place some sound dampening material under it while you're sending. Handy keeps a record of the last 11 fax. Transmissions You can view this log by first pressing function.
