Just a quick one. Dave found the latest LOST easter egg in the Agilent 3000X/2000X series oscilloscope Ver1.2 firmware.

Hi there's an Easter egg in the new Agilant uh 1.2 firmware for the 3000 Series and the 2000 series scope and I finally found it needle needed. Uh, the clues from Uh agent to actually do it. It's based on the TV series Lost I Love Lost until the final came around. They didn't answer any questions.

crap anyway. Um, it's obvious that the um Uh numbers the famous lost Uh numbers would be part of this. So uh, they the clue was to uh, press back. it didn't matter what menu we in, press back until you get onto um where there's no menu showing and after much uh, frantic monkey button pushing which almost wore the damn buttons out I finally cracked it.

It was um, the last three digits of or the last uh, three numbers in the series of famous lost Uh numbers which are 16, 23 and 42. And if you number the um soft keys from one here to six over here, then you enter those in sequence and bingo you get the Easter egg. So let's try it. 16, 23, 42 Bingo There it is8 minutes and counting down which is of course the uh timer on lost.

you had to push the button every 108 minutes and it's counting down. We're at 1 minute and been waiting for 108 minutes and 58 seconds left. Will it actually do anything? I don't know I Guess we'll uh find out in under a minute and here we go. We're at 10 seconds, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 do something a what it's I Expected some sort of oh where we're inside the Swan.

Check it out. Excellent. There we go. It's changed it to the Dharma symbol and we're We're inside the swan station and it's got the uh, it's got the red symbols down the bottom which I thought were supposed to flip over from memory from the TV show.

Um, they were supposed to flip over. Maybe if I uh touch it, it might uh, it might do something. perhaps. Let's try it.

No, NOP does. Absolutely. Oh, there we go. That's it.

Oh what is that? all? Disappointed Bummer.

    I'm with you Dave – LOST was great, right up to the final episode where they took the cheapest, cheesiestway to bail. I'll never watch another show put together by those two!

    This reduces my respect for Agilent scopes.

    The true easter eggs in these scopes: unlocking optional accessories (additional memory, serial decoding)!

    @EEVblog There you go again Dave. !! Cred Alert !! 😉

    Actually Series1 had me watching, but half way through Series2 I'd lost interest.
    If I'd watched any more I'd have lost the will to live …
    It was good to see Katey Sagal doing something different though.

    @EEVblog I couldn't help but laugh; quite random! I must say I prefer the DS-1052E easter egg that you alluded to in your initial teardown. That was such a win!

    @GeorgeGraves Good point. Probably!

    @anthonycroberts I'm glad you liked it enough to comment.

    @KozmykJ LOST was pretty darn good until they didn't answer anything at the end like the they promised.

    What you don't know is that when you pressed the button at the end, Australia moved about a meter and a half closer to New Zealand. Now all the navigational charts are obsolete. Thanks a lot, Dave!

    Worst. EEVBlog. Ever.
    (At least it was short! The rest are still awesome.)

    @MewesK i don't remember which one, but either minesweeper or the 3D pinball have some easter egg afaik

    I'm not sure if I'd want to admit in public to watching all of LOST. 😉
    Even if I had, which I didn't. Of course, I would say that wouldn't I.

    Too bad I'll never be able to afford that sexy thing. I've designed products and I'm an EE and I STILL don't have a scope. Better get to it.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jan Tichavský says:

    @badmofo1877 why?

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MewK says:

    This video reminds me that Microsoft forbid their developers to put easter eggs in the products. What a waste… Okay maybe the 3D racing game was a little bit over the top.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Misty Moo says:

    @badmofo1877 It really isn't.

    @killerman4ever Yeah, the black smoke should have appeared…
