What do we got? We've got a it's obviously a USB doodad in a static shielding day.
And that static dissipative rubbish from a static shielding. And it's a that's like a 3d printed case. It's the Tim Pam. It's got a serial number on the bottom, it's got a lanyard, it's got a rocker switch on the side has it. It's got an on-off button, its fleet a fleshie flashing, so it's obviously a building rechargeable. and there's a a micro SD on the side and a couple of things on the oh no, no, no, nothing. Let's go to the website. So this thing is the temple if I'm pronouncing that correctly.
Anyway, the temp Andy I assume that's a a serial number or whatever. unique I did fire. It looks like a 3d printed case. It's got audio, in and out, and a couple of headers and and stuff like that.
Well, let's have a look at what the this thing actually is because there's no note with it and googling. Didn't immediately pick it up. but tympanic is something to do with the ear anyway. it's like an open source cochlear type image process.
or even though the cochlear is the implant thing at some sort of open source development system. and it's a temp an org. but like if you go to WYSIWYG Tim Payne org, it takes you to the shop. so there's like I don't know.
Okay, open-source hearing. It's cool. Okay, it's got it. This is new.
It uses @nz processor in it with codec, bluetooth, and on board members. Mike's a fantastic plus. It runs Arduino IDE Family I Think it's two hundred and ninety nine dollars. so three hundred Yankee bucks by looks of it.
which is pretty pricey for an open-source you know, for a open-source Hardware board like that. But of course if it does the business then it does the business. and I won't bother opening the thing because here it is they've already torn it down for us. It's got the Bluetooth module and everything are designed in Brookland made in Taipei Taiwan and okay, it's got a free scale I'm 68 whatever in it and it looks like it's got a codec in it and stuff like that.
There's inputs and outputs USB and I think this: I think it has a battery unit because like we powered it up, it must I can see the battery in the back there so no worries I probably got a charger year. There's the battery connector so there you go. It's got a TI part there, the TLC 320 audio codec. Apart from that, like okay, why open come into open sources gravely of making a research inaccessible blah blah blah This is the only information we've got here and I can't expand this I can't get anything else.
there's no about a page or anything. all I can do is subscribe I can buy the thing and I can subscribe and it's all about this open hardware and talks about algorithms so this looks like it's got some nifty looking software with it. but no like I can't download anything from this webpage I can't I can't do anything. it's just a shop.

so good. Scribe: Oh, isn't that neat that that looks like recyclable cardboard packaging? I Really like the look of that that looks carbon zinc. They've got their own custom battery. so yeah, it looks like you get one pin with it, plunk them down so you draw them on over what just a regular bit of paper and you plug them down.
Oh alright. I'll have to have a quick go with this, but maybe I cannot have got the time saying it's very busy. very busy eight-year-old Let's see if we can gather and do a review video of this Anyway, let's have a quick squeeze. It's included some new silkscreen ink. so I assume that's this beta stuff here and the new circuit Scribe Pro pen. Then we've got our regular Circuit Scribe ink pen which is 1 ohm per centimeter. I've done a video on conductive square surfaces I'll link that one at the end if I remember and down below. Definitely check them out cuz that's actually really interesting how that's actually defined and it's also useful for filling in wires on do-it-yourselfer PCBs as well as fixing any broken traces or ground connections on PCBs Awesome! So you know, even if you're not interested in like the educational kit, something like this, probably worth having one of these conductive ink pens in your kit just for a you know, repair purposes and things like that.
So let's have all the squiz. So there you go. You can just draw on to paper or other materials, can do glass and things like that as well with the newer better ink, and it looks like they've just got little magnetic modules that snap down so presumably we get the stainless steel thing on the back of it and then you can just draw the stuff and then hook them all up. and this is a real I Rather like this example here.
If you're designing a rocket, you know it looks like is that a buzzer up there? You can have that, you know LEDs Light up and then thrust comes out the lids here and they light up and boom the rocket takes off that you know that's really quite neat. It looks like this is all printed on recycled paper by the feel of it, so that's really neat. I Like that and welcome to Circuit Scribe I Won't go through all the details. You can have a read for yourself and just the first circuit.

There we go. We're getting into their now fantastic multicolored Leds color palette light sensor thing. Okay, so this is looks like this is for more advanced kit. There you go.
Okay, neat in the box. we've got one pen. I should throw in a couple of pins. Come on, don't know how much the Pens I don't know how much the kid is. Six hours times 1.5 volts equals nine volts I Love how they tell you that and that feels and smells like a carbon zinc battery. Anyway, we've got our battery took up and they've got the little magnets on the back there. Put some little LED modules. we've got our blinken module and there's our potentiometer.
It's a nice carbon slide job' very basic kit and we've got more instructions. Gee's circuit stencil - it's a stencil so that you can draw the pads not only the correct size, but the correct distance apart module formats. There you go, someone was thinking and stickers. You give stickers to an eight-year-old and they'll go everywhere.
But if it's supposed to go, tie me kangaroo down. Tie me kangaroo down. why won't my doodle power on? Well, let's see if we can get out due to working for starters. So I'm actually yeah, quite impressed by these pins.
They look and feel like you know, real pens. Let's see what happens if we draw one down here like this. There we go. It was supposed to fill it in.

I Guess I Can understand depending on the type of your paper that you have that you can get a break in there. This is good though because of course you learn electronics by failing by having it not work.
You'll learn a lot. Anyway, there's a much thicker trace, right? I Think that they're sharp probes. Don't put sharp probes on paper. I Suspect 93 Ohms Wow Yeah, that one's definitely cactus. Good thing about this. Gotta teach kids too. Here's a multimeter to check continuity. that's for sure.
Should include a $2 multimeter with each kit. Uh-huh Now we're talking. this will be a winner. Winner chicken dinner.

although the weight of silver in here is our for B's dick I suspect, but it's just like you know, gold on a PCB I would imagine I don't know how much weight you know I mean it's certainly not an ounce. So anyway, this is used for a right, you know, screen printing and stuff like that. So yeah, you know you could like laser cut a mylar sheet or something like that and there's an Ood. Then you know, squeegee this on to create your circuit because it is supposed to dry instantly on any surface.
So uh-huh you got to squeeze it. There you go. That certainly draws on their draw a square wave. There you go.
Supposed to Well I don't know, that's pretty thick. Yeah now I wouldn't have expected that - got it on my fingers. And about the paper over here. now it's smudging so that one that one's gonna take time to set but that's the one that you want for are doing your repairs on your PCB traces.
So I just drew a trace about Yay Long 79 16 Ohms, it's not terrific. Is it okay? I'll get some of the good stuff. supposedly smear some on like that. I Mean that's a thick as trace? Okay, that's not completely dry.
Yeah, especially if it's thicker. If it's thicker, it's probably going to take some trying to dry. But no, we're talking 130 Ohms. No even close together even where this thick part is.
40 names, no. 25 milli ohms. hmm. File I actually have to mix it.
sort of like changing color. They're suspect we may not have gotten much of our silver. that's a big thick as trace. Look at that.
If you watch my video on our Ohms per square, you'll know what we're dealing with here. So I haven't let that dry yet. I'm just straight in there. Maybe I do need to let it dry? Okay, should dark.

I mean we're not talking power traces here. Anyway, this circuit scribe kit that's pretty cool I Don't know about like they're just the simplistic one like this. I Present: Think you should just have like the more advanced one with the NPN transistor and you know, make it do a few more interesting things and just this have a few different options. Shouldn't be in advanced kit I Don't know what the price for this is I'll add that input Yeah, that's really neat and these are conductive ink pens. They're available from quite a few companies I'm not sure the actual brand names you are sell them these days, but you can actually pick them up. But yeah, this is another one and there's better one. I'm not sure about it. so writing 25 millions per square.
but yeah, maybe some more experimentation. It might have to be a certain thickness or something like that. So anyway, it does work when it's cured. So anyway, worth checking out.

So it's basically one of those our Pulse Oxi meters I think I Don't know if it's just pulse or whether it does the oxygen level in the blood as well because it's basically got a little reverse mount infrared LED there and you'll see these in hospitals I Put them on their end of your finger and it can measure the amount of Hebert hemoglobin in your blood with the infrared LED when it shines through. So yeah, it's a common thing, but you can also get hate hence the name. Pulse Ox E meter measures the oxygen level and your pulse. This one might only just do pulse.
So yeah, neat. Anyway, that's at Pulse Sensor calm. Yep, it plugs into an Arduino I won't bother. like getting Arduino out and loading up sketches and making it work and stuff like that I'm sure it does I mean.

These are these little pin mounts for the watch band that's a bit different than how I did it on the microcurrent. I use little machine pin sockets actually glued onto there but lay 12:06 surface mount job' on each side and a little cast elation on the side of the board. that's kind of novel. Done it.

You know at least a thermocouple temperature sensor. Pro Preferably like a multi-channel or and/or a logger type system because you never know when you have to log temperature for doing, you know, just temperature testing your products over temperature. It's a very underrated thing which you should be doing for your projects and stuff like that just in a simple, cheapest thermal chamber which are showing you.
Just get one of those egg incubator things and stick this right up. Its clacker and you can log it as you want, monitor the performance of your products. Oh yeah, well we're having. thank you very much.

Yeah, my last job was at an engineering place with a similar looking web site. Couldn’t figure out what their product did. I worked there six months and never did exactly figure out what it did. I gently hinted that they might want to describe what the thing did, in words the average EE could understand, but it never happened. Also, they had a throughly frightening mascot.
In film school in the 80s we used those RM-440s. Seeing one really brought back some memories. Thanks!
The Z80, world's first RISC (Reduced Instruction Set CPU) processor!, was, apparently developed in secret by the military to control early cruise missiles! Apparently. At that time things had moved on but they were left with millions of these processors, and Clive Sinclair knew what they were, and he thought of a commercial app for this chip. There are several ways of programming it, either via machine code, or via BASIC from an on-board 'interpreter' EPROM. And so was the Sinclair ZX80 born. I used to own that, the ZX81, and a couple of Spectrums. Using their own embedded 'single Keystroke Basic' you could write programs very neat and fast. But it was very limited, and was relatively slow, the fastest running just above 4MHz. By then the 68000 and the first 286 processors were built, allowing for 2 platforms, which eventually morphed into Windows and Apple, with some notable newcomers, Linux and Android. Cool huh?

Did you notice the curved traces on the Faber-Castell circuit board. None of the now standard neat angled tracing.
I had a Casio calculator that I bought in High School, after about 5 years it developed a problem where it had intermittent connection to the battery. I added a small tantalum capacitor that solved the problem. I still had it and occasionally used it 20 years later when it was stolen with some other stuff out of my car. It was a great device and the polar <-> rectangular conversion got a lot of use in a college level physics class I took. The one I had was much thinner and there was barely enough room for the small capacitor but I would be if I still had it, it would still work.
That editing control is part of the Quintel Paintbox and I think Peter Dexter of Dexterslab2013 would want that.
I built a tiny kit watch that ended up about that size. Of course all tiny SMD construction. Gave me a great excuse t buy some new soldering iron tips, I found some tiny needle sharp tips that worked very well with the kit. I was so surprised when I installed the 5 button cell batteries and she came to life. That was a year ago now and she is on her second set of batteries. A real education on proper soldering there, should be considered your final test in soldering 101

It also can’t do matrix multiplication if any numbers in the matrix are complex.

The first pocket calculators we were allowed to use at school in Germany were the TI30. (The one with red light emitting digits behind tiny magnifying lenses.) When LCD took over, Casio wiped Texas Instruments from the market, because the TI30 LCD-Version made everyone sick with its permanent keybouncing. A tiny design error totally ruined the usability of the TI-device and opened a great market for Casio.
What does a discrete transistor do? moreso the discrete part of the word.
