There's supposed to be a new edition of The Art of Electronics coming out this year (2014). I hope it's true, I'm waiting to buy. I've checked the 2nd ed. out from the library and it's very good.
I love this book – when we had to reduce for space – I donated mine to the London Hackspace library – it turns out there are now a couple of copies of it there now – and so there should be.
yah good old Horowitz and Hill best book out there thumbs up and cause its so good i have 2 copies. yes 2 copies of the same book wish there where some more books like it.
Dave, I know you say you aren't a mechanical, but your case design (particularly the strap mount in this case) for your projects is always ingenious. I am a mech eng, and I'd be proud of some of these design choices, you could have easily come to the other side ;). (I really love the use of PCBs as front panels and cases!)
+1 for EE books being theoretical crap. Most of 'em are just really REALLY old material thrown into a blender, given shiny & expensive hard covers, some illustrations, and then thrown into university book stores at significantly inflated prices.
If anyone wants a pleasant shock, go to your local library, and assuming they've been around for at least a century, they likely have some nearly 100-year-old electronics books. One recurrent theme: almost none of the basics have changed!
Will i become more serious about electronics after buying this book ?
I've just received the third edition! I'm so excited!
3rd edition is out now, about $89 on Amazon.
Yup! Just purchased the 3rd edition yesterday! Price seems lower too. 🙂
Well the 3rd edition is finally here, looking forward to reading it.
Thanks for the recommendation of the book. I purchased it from your amazon store and I can't put it down. Great Book!

Dave thanks for recommending that book. I am reading it now and learning a lot of stuff that I should have already known.
You should revisit this project in 2012 with a oled display
The watch strap is on back to front. Tool.
Especially the LCD?
What's a good place that I can order the SMD like the ICs, caps for this uwatch project?
