Hi just a quick Eevee blood because a lot of people have asked for this. You know how I started I think it was in the first blab I Announced that I was looking to hire someone here for the lab and well thank you to everyone who sent in resumes. It was like 80 people or something before. a lot of application so thank you very much.
And yes, I did eventually hire someone to help out here in the lab and well, he's here somewhere. Whoa whoa there is and he's names Dave - say hi Dave hello Dave Dave - Dave sees last name war main anonymous cuz you you're off the grid, you're a nerd. He's off the grid I am I am I'm not on almost any of the social media platforms. Anyway, this is Dave and he's a still a student.
Tell us about, tell us about you. Yep, Yep. I'm I'm a student at University Technology that's in Sydney I study Electrical Engineering I have So for about four years, the UTS course is like 20 years long or something. Yeah, it's a five year course because it has this internship block in it which is like a yep, two six-month periods.
Other than that, I do a lot of electronics work in hobbies and I did for my previous job as well. Um, what else do I do I love CNC machinery Oh yes, he's into 3d model in but anyway, very cool. So he's in the mechanical 3d all that sort of stuff. and he's pretty good with electronics too.
And he's gonna be helping out around the lab here. Um, hopefully I Haven't been doing that many videos lately because lots of things busy anyway. Hopefully we can do more stuff we can. We've already got something.
this was like first or second day on the job and we won't tell you what it is, but this is yeah. you came up with a case and yep, it's pretty cool so you'll see that in an upcoming video. some things, some things anyway. this is very cool.
3d printed it and we're working on a bunch of other stuff as well. Slowly, he's working here a couple of days a week and the yeah, that's Dave mini-me hello I swear I didn't harm because his name is Dave you can address me as David so then on the Brian's I'll know you're talking about me or Dave all know he's talking about him anyway. yeah anyway he's sippy on the form so he'll be handling like the forum side of things, microcurrent, packing and shipping and all that sort of jazz and all the logistical stuff there. and you haven't scrubbed toilets or taking out the trash once? Oh well, no he just took out.
We just took out the trash and scrub toilets because we got a lot of Indians here. But yeah, but I have been cleaning a lot. Yeah, the labs a mess so we're in progress of cleaning it up and hopefully that works more efficiently for doing videos and videos in progress. and I can do more, hopefully more technical videos because I can get Dave to do boards and things like that whereas I don't have I can't spend you know, a week you know, designing something just for one.
you know, twenty minute video or something like that. It's not very efficient. Yeah, great. Oh Excellent. So there you go is Sippy on the forum. Check him out, but that's pretty much with the only place you're online. Yep, because you don't have been Twitter in anything. People can't stalk him.
No, no. and we will eventually get the webcam back. By the way, he's working on that. He's at the moment as we speak I'm compiling Raspberry Pi stuff OS you're a you hate Linux - yeah, I can use Linux but it makes me severely uncomfortable because it's just it's just more work it is I know we're both in agreement.
Sorry for you Linux fanboys out there. but yeah, it's just too much work. I mean like I get its capabilities are vast and the open source community is pretty much like the Linux communities. Yep, and it's great.
It's a great community, apart from some of the obvious negatives of the commute. Anyway, let's don't do that stuff enough. People already say yeah, hey, Dave no pass this the left-handed screwdriver. It's the right-handed one.
Ah, bloody students these days. Bart and I do everything yourself.
Linux Mint is easier to use than windows 10
Oh, these famous globe of Australia, ink for the first grade in middle school and left-handed screwdriver! Heard a lot of these!
Where did new Dave go? Haven't seen him for ages.
Oh god…the way he came up from under the table and the face you made when he did….ugewwwhgkhgh! Have him come from outside the frame or something but not from under the table like that! Us dirty minded people just lost our collective minds!
Intern…….
That's what is cool on OpenSource software. You're free even to not use it.. Fanboys, be it on Linux, Windows, Apple or whatever are just loosing of time. Take what works for you and that's it. Nobody needs to know.
Something something something…dark side!

Dave send Davo for a long stand, and a new bubble for the spirit level. Oh and don't forget the glass hammer 🙂
You guys r funny
AfroDave, wheres the linux love???? I know we can be stubborn but thats because we're right! 🙂
I bet he doesn't have the correct tongue angle, takes years to master.
not pissed off about the linux comment, just feel you may want to be a bit…careful. why? well, because for the folks that really know OSes — i.e. sys admins, programmers, etc. it is a pretty accepted and overwhelming fact that *nix is better—more security, better performance, absolutely tons more power with the kernel than u could dream of doing with windows and such (every tried writing a .BAT file based script suite? OMG). so anyway, to maintain your status as absolute experts in your field, which u obviously are, i'd be sure to try to kind of demure if u will to which OS is the more respected by far in the heavy hitter I.T. shops
Love it. I was a Unix Admin for a time and I also agree. It's too much work. I don't want to take that much time making the OS do what I want it to do. I just want it done. Mind you I'm talking personal purposes, not commercial. Linux has come a long way, but it's still too much work.
Good on ya David!
