In this video we tackle something that none of us has done before. Restoring plastic body panels is especially difficult due to the need for there to be no imperfections because they will shine through in paint much easier than other mediums. With that being said, we had the task of completely disassembling, prepping, and painting all of the 40 year old plastic body panels on this old honda odyssey fl250 2 stroke offroad go kart.
In order to do this we had to completely strip down and dissaseble the odyssey, sand off the yellow first gen paint, spray primer, sand that down, then finish it off with rustoleum spray paint. We were concerned with how spray paint would hold up but it seems to be doing just fine and it has a very good finish.
Thank you guys for watching and be sure to stay tuned for the rest of this build!

FYI. For the next time you paint fiber glass or plastic use these steps. 1. Prep the surface with 220 girt 2. clean with glass cleaner and then tac clothe it 3. spray bully dog adhesion premotor on it (it's used for plastic, fiberglass etc for adhesion and flexibility…you can buy it in aerosol form) let dry 10 to 15 minutes 4. spray with hi build primer (for best result let dry over night when using aerosol primer 5. prep with 400 grit and glass clean and tac clothe again 6. spray one coat of primer sealer and let dry over night again 7. sand with 600 grit (wet sand works best but not necessary) clean and tac clothe, paint, clear (if desire) done!

And easy way to restore your plastics to the original factory color if it is dry and son rotted you just take a heat gun and heat up the plastic until it turns to the original color it works really good I used on the entire plastics on my four wheeler and it looked really good in the end

A trick with the floor pan is where your feet go use either a spray in or roll on truck bed liner as it will hold up better than paint to your shoes rubbing on it
