Dave had a small problem in the lab and fixed it with some electrical tape.
Yes, the video is pointless, but why not?
Could have been funny if it failed...

Bugger looks like I've been a complete idiot and I've knocked over my component cabinet I was moving stuff around here, knocked it on the floor and it's filled with screws and all sorts of assorted other stuff. If I pick that up, it's just going to go everywhere and it's going to make a mess. So I Got to pick this thing up I got to figure out how to pick it up without, uh, losing all the contents I can probably try and get some cardboard under there like that, slide it under and then lift it all up, but that's a bit I don't know. It's a bit dodgy so there's nothing you can't fix with some electrical tape.

Let's give it a go. All right, let's give it a go, let's see if we can and Tada we did it. Check it out. Very little damage at all that's much quicker than uh using than just tip them all out and having to put them back in.

I Like it I fixed it with a bit of electrical tape Beauty Yeah.

What confused me is how they didn't fall out when it tipped over :^¶

The typical Russian engineer would say that you probably could do that 500% faster if you have a BLUE tape.

Where can I get good parts drawers like that one at a reasonable price?

Ah – I slid a piece of posterboard under mine to keep the drawers in. Nice work!

@Maverus Electrical tape was to hand, so it got the job. But yes, sentiment agreed.

No No No you did it all wrong, Duct tape is god amongst tape, it holds the fabric of space and time together. Next time use it

Everyone saying this is a stupid video is probably just jealous they didn't think of this when they knocked their own parts cabinet over

What is this? I missed the toilet bowl the other day but did not make a video about how I corrected the problem, as another commenter said; "a piece cardboard would have been better" and possibly more entertaining.
Not sure what is going on with your stuff these days….

@wa4aos Well, what with that and the drain water spiraling in the other direction, and those nanny state hot water taps, I'm sold!, I'm packing now!

I like using small AkroMils hanging bins for components. Their "30-220" size. I used to have a large number of these same drawer bin cabinets in my shop. I also use flip top storage boxes like the ones you can find at craft stores and hobby shops.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars wa4aos says:

    But Dave,
North of the equator, our part's bins fall BACK DOWN, FACE UP and we Don't require tape. We simply raise the bin vertical and all is well..

You should consider moving to good ole US of A where our politicians are ALL crooks, our citizens live on welfare and DUMB people pop out babies like there's no tomorrow. Our national IQ is falling fast.

Yikes, our USA is my favorite third world country. But our bins DON'T fall FACE DOWN…

oh, i thought it was face up at first and was like, WTF is he worrying about, once i realized it was "face down" i realized your concern, good job dave, did many of the parts get "mixed"?

I have a cabinet somthing like that one all filled with electronic parts that I had when I worked for ASI the Delrorean radio manufacture in Louisville KY . I have all the parts that went in the radios and solder and some mics parts. I could sell it . I had the same problem 2 times it fell on the floor I wish I seen this as I used cardboard which means parts fell out a lot. Thanks for the great video

I dropped mine on the floor when moving house. Components all over the road, in the gutter and random AA batteries rolling down the street.
