Just a quick one. I'm here at Uh Trio Smartcow and uh, we're just playing around with a couple of Scopes here. We've got a couple of uh, well, three Sants, SL A10s and the new Ryo rebadged sorry the new Agilant which is clearly a rebadged uh Riyle again and we're just playing around with the new Uh Siglent. what is it the SDS 124 CFL Does that uh mean CFL backlight? Yeah, it indicates it's a long.

It's a C version with oh right, it's with the long memory and that's 200 MHz 2 gig sample per second and it's got a nice nice looking screen on it I like it and what does this go for? It's under $2,000 it's under 2,000 bucks and uh, and is that for the four Channel that's for four channels on two 200 Meg four channels 200 Meg All right with and that includes and that includes full landan inter face as well USB Pass fail yeah pass fail testing with Hardware output yep USB device USB Host nice Yeah. every compliance Mark in or you need excellent and and it's A. It's a very nice looking uh scope and it's actually manufactured, designed and manufactured by Siglent Sig which are uh, apparently the world's lar largest OEM manufacturer of Scopes and it's You can see the Heritage down here on this uh a0 one but we think it's a, um, it's actually the original uh Siglent one. It's one of these uh big long case types before they um started doing these.

you know, uh, slim case type ones and uh, you can clearly see the uh Heritage in them and even this old one has a hardware uh frequency counter in it and the new Uh signal one of of course also has Hardware frequency counting as well. and uh and the auto set capabilities. You can see the auto set um allows you to jump directly to rise and uh Rising Edge and falling Edge as well and you can jump. Yep, there we go.

You can jump directly to it, but you can see the heritage of uh how we've gone well from this one down here to this signant one up here with easy hunting technology I Love it and it's see um it's uh $295 Australian doll for a 25 MHz uh scope. It's absolutely crazy. Double the sample rate of the opposition and right double the sample rate 500 Meg samples per second. and uh yeah.

so we've gone the Heritage from the old uh large case style to the modern slim case style really low cost one to the more up Market um 4 channel 200 MHz versions. This is what's nice. the wi of the screen uh what is it 800 by um I don't I don't know the I don't know the pixel kind but you've got um is it not sure if that is pixel doubled or not but uh it just seems very sharp. Yeah the screen is very nice.

Not sure how it's showing up on camera but uh we do an auto on it. You can see how how how crisp the text is and how crisp the symbols are. Mhm. It's very and it's all nicely.

Colorcoded buttons are all uh. buttons are all pushable so you can go directly back to the it. would be interesting interesting to see if we turn the channel on and then do an auto set if it turns off redundant channels. We had a a previous incident we did.
let's have a look. Yes, it does. It does. It turns them off.

Yeah, neat. but uh yeah, it's a fairly nice uh four Channel 200 Big scope for under two grand Australian with a threee parts and labor warranty. threeyear warranty as well. There you go.

But uh. anyway, this um one for you know, is cheaper than a multimeter. It's just. uh, it's crazy.

We're going to power it up. This one. the little green. How long does it take to boot? Not long there you go.

and yep, it's a signal. It's an AKA uh signant. It's also a uh lroy uh wave A as well. same family, same family and uh I think BK precision as well.

Possibly so it's uh, but uh, signant signant are the ones who actually design and manufacture it. So they are a huge OEM manufacturer and you'll finger on the end of the prob. and yep, a 50 HZ Uh 50 HZ Update: Was it rattling? Something that's looks pretty quick? Slowed down a bit there. must have changed the memory depth.

Yeah, we're We're only looking at 50 Herz so it's very slow sweep speed. Oh there. the uh there. the uh.

that's the software filter. Never never experiment on camera. No. but let's have a go.

So let's turn the upper limit of this digital filter and there's the button there and we'll uh, see what, see if it. Actually, if we take the upper limit down to say 250, it's still picking the spikes up. Oh we could have turned the filter on. That would help.

There you go there we go. look at that. It's taken out all those high frequencies. Beautiful.

And that's a software filter. Fil y. you can change the filter typee. At the moment we're looking, we're looking at a a low pass.

We can change it to a high pass so there's all the high frequency preparing all we can. uh I mean this is actually quite neat. Quite impressed by this myself. We've got a low pass, a band pass there.

band stop. B stop. We've got a band pass. a high pass.

We got a high pass option. So if we just yeah, it's taking the 50 HZ on completely. And what if we power up the Agilant one here at the same time the signal take it from the sign so the other if you replace the 60 10. All right, How long? Of course it's Agilant technology, but I'm pretty darn sure it's a Rgo and you'll notice that the firmware looks between them look very, very similar.

But I am led to believe that Sigment actually design and manufacture this and uh, rebadge it under many different brands. A10 and uh and and Lacroy and various others and Agilant um, this is some variation of a Ry Go. And of course Ryo uh, you know. so they're obviously copying each other's firmware cuz they very do look very similar if you look at the uh waveform window on there compared to the waveform window up here.

Oh, there we go. and uh, they are incredibly similar. But I think they are just uh, copied. They they're just copying each other's uh, features and look and feel outright.
and uh, they aren't actually the same scope. CU A lot of people do actually. um think that the uh, sigin and all those are actually the ryol but they're not so and uh, simar yeah they update speeds. In fact, if anything, this one slightly faster f it is.

It is a look at the stopping. Oh yeah. oh okay. yeah.

I can see it stopping. Is it doing any in the background? No, it's just actually stuffing. Yeah, that's terrible. It's not doing any processing in the background.

does look familiar. It's very similar. They've just copied each other's Check out that difference in that menu with look at that you would swear they're from the same manufacturer. but uh, they're not.

Apparently that's what we're led to believe anyway. So do a tear down and see whose names on the circuit board tear down. Yes, well coming up. Maybe we might have to do some uh tear Downs of these things.

But uh yeah. Agilant. What's the new Agilant one worth? H This is this one's about 800 bucks. About 800 bucks.

There you go. So and this one's uh, 298 298. but it is 25. MHz Do they do a 50 meg version? Uh, they they do indeed.

Yeah right. And 100 and a 200 and a 300? Yeah, 300 up to 300 in this package. but it wouldn't be the same Hardware in the 300 it wouldn't be the same front end. It's be highering rates.

Nice. There you go they are. That's just ridiculously similar value for money. I'd say that is the best on the market.

195 bucks Australian Can you believe it? That's cheaper than a decent high-end multimeter? Decent mid-range multimeter. Yeah. mid-range multimeter? True. Anyway, I'll give you so this one is also the BK Precision Uh one.

But they do change the model number, but it's also the Um Atten uh 1022 C and you're struggling to get that anywhere. The price of a major Australian catalog company tries the So you're struggling to get that and cheaper than you can buy it here in Australia which is quite remarkable. Quite unique. And there we go.

Uh BK Precision Do actually change the uh number of it It's the 2530b and their manufacturers suggest a retail price is 449. Uh, Us doll whereas you can get the same thing under the Siglent brand here in Australia for $298 Crazy sure who? We don't know who the who the actual OEM of this is, but it's not signant. Okay, so this is not a signant one. We got another one here out of the box.

What is it? A 20? It's a Uq 2062, but that's not Uq 2062. that is not the manufacturer. Okay, that's not the this. This is rebadged by a Chinese company.

got it? So this is probably third down the rung in terms of uh. reputation. They're very. they're good Scopes and perform.

Yeah, they're very good. Scopes They perform well. Uh, we can power one up if you want to have a look, might as well power one up. See that's a very fast boot.
Watch the boot time. do again. Yep, Three two one go. That is that a fast boot? Oh that.

Yeah, can't see the graule there at the large angle change. and uh, this is the unique Ukq 20 62c but we don't think it's made by Unique is a big Chinese distributor. They just buy stuff off lots of smaller companies and Bges so we're not actually sure who the original uh manufacturer of this one is. but it's not signant and it's not rol and it needs Pro compensation.

Yeah, but that's a fast aut set. Mhm it's a it's a nice scope and what's this one in the how much is this in the 6? 60 Meg 500 Mega samples around $340 340 bucks a St very good price I think so but we're them. Yeah yeah but I still think it's a good price for that. Um yeah, 500 Mega samples It's got uh the auto nor normal Auto it doesn't have any of the the bells and whistles of the other one so you've got yeah it's a very spart and Unice spot looks it's a more basic Asel Silicon Chip Did a review on this and it was actually a very good review right for the price.

Anyway, for the price, Yeah yeah of course everything basic 50 meg scope's the math so math Fft does do does do basic Fft. Of course we can change it to H we'll go to, we go to how you turn on we'll go. no it was. it was on linear as opposed to oh okay so that's all got it.

I just get a few more dimision on the and of course it's only 500. Uh Mig sample per second so they haven't Uh, but for 60 for 60 Meg is more than enough. Yep, question see auto set Boom Jump straight in so that's a very basic scope. It's just a basic scope but if somebody who just wants if you need the bandwidth, it's very good.

Val Y for the bandwidth whereas if you're after bit more slightly more functionality with possibly better performance than you're looking at the 25. Meg So you're sacrificing a bit of band, sacrificing features for bandwidth bandwidth. Yep for sample, sample rate is the same. Yep, cool.

There you go there. it's it's very Spartan interface. It's very uh yeah. they really haven't done any bells and whistles on the uh, the gooey there.

and as a quick bonus, we're going to play with a table. Got time to play with it? Well, no, we're going to we. It's a minor unboxing here. straight out of the factory.

Here we we go. Still got the sticky on it. So I leave it. Oh yeah, leave it on.

So it's a 2.3 gig sample per second arbitary waveform generator. same speed. pretty much the same speed as the Uh Agilant one I just uh, tore down. Nice little smas on the uh on the front there and uh USB on the front.

Nice keypad interface. Got the B Don't really like the knob though. It's not really a knob. it's like a it's just a flat.

It's a flat Optical uh. encoder like you can't really grab it like a real knob. You got to no, no, got to have a real knob. But apart from that, um, really nice pity kit.
this is a table. uh who. Actually they do design and manufacture it. so uh, it's oh.

look at the back here we go. What do we got? Sequence Segment Control Beautiful. o Two oh, you can sync two instruments together. Y does it Come with the cable to sync them? Or right? Yeah, of course.

And Gpib? and uh, neat. Alxa Sweet. That's a really nice bit of Kit M I Like it only 34 Grand Only $34,000 Bargain it the same price, not at twice the price. Awesome! So there you go.

We're just playing around with some scopes at Trio Smart Cal here. Hope you enjoyed it. Catch you next time and.

“Cheap”. His cheap and my cheap are totally different. Now I know the good stuff is gonna cost but it doesn’t mean I can afford it.

Dave insists the Agilent is a rebadged Rigol. Am I missing something here? I was under the impression that HP has always made its own gear, even at the opening price points.

I just bought a SDS1102CML thanks to this video, good oscilloscope rugged build. Am amazed that the power supply is not isolated… if I tie the gnd aligator clip to the usb 5v it's dead short.
Found out the Earth cable is tied to the gnd of the USB and the ground of the aligator clip and this is normal.
