All right Hi guys, just a quick uh video. This is the corad uh power supply followup. Um, this is the new version with the fixed board and here's the old board. Let's have a look at the processor board here.

Here's the old board and the new board looks. Oh, it's an identical layout, but they have changed the uh, they have changed the current shunt a bit. It looks much better wound now. I Like it.

Plus there's a bodge cap on there. Apparently the old one under uh, heavy load did on the display actually fluctuate a bit so it looks like they've added just some uh filtering on there or something like that. but they've actually um also redesigned the Uh interface board as well. It's a different layout you can see there's a common mode uh choke on here where there wasn't a common mode choke before and they've done away with the the Um ground lead now they don't need to do that anymore.

and also the Transformer there it is 240 volts, 30 ws, and uh in the previous one was 220 of course. and uh here is big surprise the here's a surprise folks. They um said that they just changed the power transistors but they haven't It's a completely different layout. this is the no yeah, this is the previous one and this is the new one.

Check it out. Completely different. and uh, check out the little board they've got in there with the Uh Power transistor leads coming through there. Totally different.

They've added a themister down in there which goes through a metal post down in there and and and measures the temperature of the heat sink down in there. And there's a whole bunch of heat sink compound in there. And and they've changed. and they have changed the Uh Power transistors as well.

but it's so it's a completely different layout and design. They've completely redone it whereas they told us they only changed the power transistors. So go figure. There you go.

Um, and apparently as you've seen in Charles's video, the new power supply Works Uh, fantastically So Yeah, it's a winner, but of course you know it's still Rock Bottom Price. Um, but you're absolutely getting a bargain at that sort of price because it's just you know the the performance per dollar is amazing. but still, it's good to see they've improved the design. but why they didn't tell us I Have no idea and we're going to have a whole bunch of these leftover boards.

What? 16 of them Charles 16 boards And um, anyone who wants these uh assemblies all you got to do is pay Postage and uh, 50 lousy bucks and they're all yours and the 50 bucks will and the 50 bucks will go to a charity children's charity children's charity for Christmas There you go. So if you want 16 of these if they're useful for you, they got a fan. They got a heat sink they got um Power transistors which are blow if you put too if you overload them. if you overload them too much.

but uh there, that's pretty useful. I Think that's a bargain so contact Charles Actually it's more of a bargain folks. you will actually get all three boards. You'll get the this one, the um uh processor board, and an interface board as well.
bargain.

Korad ka3003p has better output specs than ka3005p, 1mv vs 2mv, 3ma vs 5ma, in output fluctuating, according to the specifications. Dave, could you verify this? You can do a comparison video with others, that will be interesting.

10 years later and this power supply is still being marketed.
These days, what would be the best option? Two of these or one Siglent SPD3303C?

Where can buy interface board sapratly

My Korad had the same issue with the new board. I'm done with this Chinese junk. From now on, on keep on saving money to buy Rohde & Schwartz or similar high end equipment. Granted you can buy a complete lab with Owon or Siglent stuff for the price of just a Rohde & Schwartz power supply, but at least you don't have to worry about the equipment failing or, even worse, destroying anything hooked up to it.
Chinese just can't designing anything decent.

How much they paid you to change the story form "junk" to recommend?

Things have moved on yet again with this power supply. The heat sink is a rather fancy extruded one with a separate area for the bridge rectifier. My only concern is the transformer has a 230 V label on it. My mains is around 245 V but I won't be hammering it. Nearly everything we get has the EU 230 V label but so far nothing has popped – yet.

I realize it's a bit late to ask.. but did the overshoot problem go away as well?

Hi, what about the big brother of it, the Korad KA3305D or P? Could you make a review of that too? I'm looking for something like that additionally, because one PSU with only one Voltage at a lab is just not enough.

I like your reviews very much, you're my reference when it comes to electronics videos – few are at least equal.

Just stick to it, you're the best!

    Hi,

seems there is just another version with a slightly different board layout which just broke down on me. Purchased January 2014 in Germany, display showing 12.00V output is nine-ish with a couple of meters of led stripe drawing 1.5A and disabled protection / constant voltage mode.

EEVblog, I found the answer to one thing you mentioned in the original review of this power supply. To get to memory 5, or M5 press M4 and turn the rotary encoder. Funny how they did this!

Does this KORAD/TENMA/VELLEMAN PSU comply with any safety class (61010-1) and EMC (55011) directives ?

For me, its very rewarding to build things. Don't be disheartened about the lack of gear. Youll get it slowly over time. I started tinkering with an analog meter (MAVO35), a shitty soldering gun, recovered parts, plenty of wires and a homemade 12v max 500mA psu built and gifted to me by a HAM who happened to live in the same apartment building. If you feel joy building, Id say ,do it, even with less then ideal equipment. Build up from what you have.

I'll be honest dave, when I first subbed to your channel I nearly unsubbed because of your voice. Not only do I not find it annoying it's actually kind of unique and cool now!
