Is and that took about an hour and 6 minutes. so my estimate of 1 hour was pretty close to spot on and we're ready to bake. Let's go and all of these boards look like an AB absolute winner. Beauty And today we have our 10 fully working.
Uh, first panel of microcurrents. haven't put them in the Uh box yet, but uh yeah, they worked. They assembled a treat and now I've got to uh test them and uh testing manually is a bit. uh, tricky because I've got to uh cross reference instruments I've got to uh check the calibration of them I've got to uh, tweak it all and make sure it's all right and I can do this BAS Bas on my lab voltage standard not everything you see here various Precision resistors I've got I can calibrate these things and I can cross check instruments and I can do all sorts of stuff like that which I won't go into uh detail.
but basically um I can set up a past fail uh limit here I'm I'm putting through a constant Uh current on a partic on the Uh microamp range at the moment and I can uh test and get a past fail of program do limits into my meter here and if I tweak the Uh current on my current Source you'll notice that it uh, comes up red and actually fails. So I've programmed in my Uh nominal spec of 0.05% into this system and I've calibrated to you know, better of an better than an order of magnitude uh than the spec of the microcar and that's not uh particularly easy to do cuz this thing is already very precise at 0.05% that's the Uh spec I guarantee for it anyway. So um, it's not trivial to do. this isn't the best method for production testing.
I'll have a slightly different system for production testing, but for testing the hen built units and ensuring just everything's fine and manually calibrating uh everything. and make sure you know I didn't have any Uh thermal issues, hasn't damaged any of the Uh components, uh made them drift or anything like that on the board and it's all sweet. This one tests out fine now I've just got to test the rest and once I set up a particular range I have to rejig it for each Uh particular range and it can get really tricky down on the Nano amp uh range of course because noise becomes a big issue there. So anyway, there you go.
It's working a treat. Well, the first 10 are tested and they're all within spec. Had no problems with Uh reflowing these or Uh testing them. In fact, um I tightened up the spec to uh half of the 0.05% or 0.025 and most almost all of them on all ranges still made it within that tighter spec.
So beautiful! So there you go, that is the first 10. I've got another couple of panels to go I think I was 30 Um units or something like that pre-orders or was it 40? I'm not sure but anyway, um yeah I have to sign the cases and pack and ship. Still haven't got the serial number uh labels on these yet which are uh serial number stickers which I've ordered. they're still in the post and a whole bunch of stuff is still in the post.
but at least I can hand assemble and test these and it actually didn't take all that long at all. It's not too bad, so pretty happy with it. Catch you next time.
Dis Dave guy iz nutz, got em.
Please make more some time!
how much does it cost for silk screen boards for small run like 24 for testing only and personal use?
bloody hell, you work quickly in the colonies
way to go!!
The certification is not necessary for selling products like ucurrent?
Thank for responding.
Do you need to be that accurate? I ย figure when you are working at your level with advanced circuits It helps a lot. Could this be something I could use, as a beginner to electronics?
I also wanted to know if you might consider making a series of videos on electronics for beginners and people who want practical knowledge of electronics. You are already doing that now for people with some knowledge of electronics.
ย
ย Could you start with the basics or select a goodย DYIย electronics book?ย ย Tell us whatย we need to read and know before watching the video. You couldย justย give us aย chapter, or chapter's to read, and what we need to understand before watching your lesson.
ย
With your intense personality and brutal honesty, people will flock to your channel like bees to honey, to be educated and entertained at the same time.
You would be likeย the adult version of the crocodile hunter for the electronics world.
ย I bet, with in a year, you get several major sponsors and offers to make your own, learn at home video series on DYI electronics.
This could lead to tv, im not kidding! Its not easy to find some one with your skills, knowledge, passion and intensity. You are the most engaging and convincingย person I have ever seen on you tube, or even in school or collage.
ย
I love the stuff you are doing, but its too advanced for the normal lay person who wants to understand electronics. There is a desperate need for someone to create a good beginner's series that takes the student from basics to making simple circuits.
ย
Other peopleย have tried to do this,ย but theyย don't present the information well or correctly. People need to be presented with informationย stating theย important concepts and rules that make electronics work, with clear direction and goals to be achieved.
ย You do this every time with out fail! You are a total natural, gifted teacher of the highest caliber.
I am grateful for all the videos you have already done, and all the time alreadyย spent teaching others. I know you are a very busy already. This is just an idea, and my own observations of you channel.
Thanks.
Does anybody know how to get one of Daves T-Shirts?
I found a lot nice designs of the "I only give negative feedback" shirts at 99designs. Is it possible to order them?! #37 is great!
I hope this contest is not over for ever…
Beautiful…great spec
Dave Jones, the human pick and place machine!
I found it very informative to see your workflow in assembling a batch of boards. and that red solder mask….. love it!
uCurrent GOLD RUSH!
Imagine if he sped up the video!?
Don't sneeze
This might sound silly but, what was it you just built? I know its a micro counter, but Iย don't know what you use it for. ย I love your channel and watch you make the things you do but im at a loss on the on what you just made.
It is very encouraging and empowering to see that it is possible to make complicated circuits board by your self. You are Extremely entertaining compared to other instructors, I think you would be wonderful doing science shows, like that Bill Nye the science guy.
LIKE A MACHINE!
I love your Flux Capacitor shirt!!!
We want to see DIY Pick and place with some vacuum tools ๐
Or a review of this cheap chineese PnP machines for ~3k $.
We are also very interested in testing jig. Would you us GPIB, or LAN with some computer software? how are you going to switch between 10 uCurrents on panel to same DMMs? Relays?
Would you consider including CAL "certificate" to each uCurrent, with errors measured with your equipment? Shouldn't be hard. Once automated over LAN with software you could just use a printer to print resulsts quiet easily and quickly.
Go Dave!
Can you get the people designing the makibox 3d printer working like you?ย
Not yet made a test jig?
Are You trying to introduce ISO9001 into manufacturing of Your uCurrent/
This looks like the most tedious hour ever.
Actually, his watch displays 1minute 6 sec and 46 thousands, not 1 hour 6 minutes. All we know is that his name's Dave
Will you be doing video coverage of the pick and place of the main run?
Thats always interesting seeing those robots go at their work.
