I still use this after seven years, works flawlessly. I have hacked it with all the upgrades so the price/performance is just fantastic.

Hi Dave, those Chinese characters are the colors of the cables that should go there (for the assembly) and I think they have been installed correctly, color corresponding to character so that's good!

Complimenti per la esposizione di questo oscilloscopio : peccato che non è in lingua italiana .

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars HerraHazar says:

    What is the modern equivalent?

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mick D says:

I'd buy from Emona any day, and plan to.
They've been in EA since at least the late 60s when I started reading it 🙂

Having run scopes since tubes were king, I, like you, are simply amazed at the value. Even though I'm retired and have little use, I had to have one of these low cost miracles.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gui llaume says:

Other comment… the datasheet of the HMCAD1511 states that it is an 8-bit ADC but the spec of the DS1054Z states a max vertical resolution of 12-bit. Can anyone confirm this, please?

The bird may be a common chaffinch or an eurasian bullfinch, a thin one, at that.
Thank you very much for this teardown video. Maybe the dig potentiometers and the quad opamp placed on the same layer are for the trigger…
I was thinking to buy one and modify it at will for some personal extended functionalities. The cost is the reason why this one instead of a big 2GHz/40GSps!
BTW, what do you think of the DS1074Z, so a bit more bandwidth and above all the logic analyzer part? Is it worth the difference of price, quite huge gap from my point of view?

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars taskforce58 says:

The Chinese characters on the PSU board are just color codes for the wires.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mo B says:

    very interested in purchasing …

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Christopher Robert says:

The Chinese characters next to the wires are the color descriptions of the wire that goes into that it’s respective connection on the board.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars andrew jowett says:

Is the DS1054Z still the best entry level scope in 2021?

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Murphy says:

Excuse me, What is the size of the star screwdriver for tear down the Oscilloscope?

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars D Myers says:

Thanks. Nice review and clearly a nice design on their part

what is the dimeter of the fan ?

Thanks god we have China, for people who likes technology.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Empusas1 says:

So after all this time, do you still recommend it or id there something better now?

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mariusz Kwasniewski says:

They name it Rigol Bird because there is a lot of white KAKA inside oscilloscope.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robin Sattahip says:

I love high-quality Chinese electronics, too bad about the cheap capacitors but the rest of that is beautifully made.
