Hi welcome to the 2015 that Sydney Maker Faire It's at the Powerhouse Museum once again for the third year running or Mars or the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences as it's part of a group thing. Now they're rebranded or something like that. So I thought I'd Take you behind the scenes here shows setting up because it sir. Well actually I don't know what the time is because I've got my thermal imaging camera watch on today.

So what is the time that I get here until 10 but it's now nine o'clock so it will go behind the scenes. People are still setting up. there's still a lot of empty tables. a lot of people haven't turned up yet.

so let's go. Won't go in the front door there take around the secret squirrel back entrance. Let's go. All right and it's a beautiful day here in Sydney by the way as it always is.

Sorry I just have to boast Sydney's got pretty good weather but one thing which is completely baffling is all show you. This used to be a walkway you used to be able to walk straight off here over there used to be a big over bridge that built-in in there. That is the entertainment in this Sydney Entertainment Center. the famous Sydney Entertainment Center which is actually going to be demolished soon apparently and there used to be a car park.

You can see it's just a construction pit now I normally park there, just walk across the bridge. BAM I'm here but no, that's all gone. Gonski So I know it was there last time I was here. I swear.

So we had a real real problem last night. I Had a real problem actually parking this morning. This is where the electric cars were for the previous two years there in this part, but the museum. the Maker Faire this year has completely changed because it used to be spread all the way out through the Powerhouse Museum, but now it's a up.

sorry I'll just set my mic level back to manual I think it's yeah, that's a bit better. I Think there we go. less noise. So uh yeah is to be an overbridge.

It's gone. it's gone I missed the overbridge Sydney's changing so much Anyway, the first year they had the fair here. There was some stuff outside here too which was awesome. but um, there.

it's all in the one big room. Give me a thumbs up a concert and that's when you collect your badges and this is a just a little kitty outdoor play area and more. Head in the back entrance. So yeah, it's all in one big room this time and completely changed.

It'll change the dynamic of it. The good thing, the good part about it or being in one room is it can't miss anything. It's all just there to. Sydney Mini make a fair.

And yes, I do have my media badge. By the way, there it is wartime innovation. There we go. They've got a new exhibit here.

Nice. Well, well, one was the catalyst for first large-scale use of technology in warfare. Oh yeah, well. I might have to check that out later.

Got some sort of engine? Brilliant. we're going Willy Wonka's Willy Wonka's glass elevator I Love the glass elevators. I Could take the escalator but nah, it's much better doing it this way. Here it comes.
Look that way. you get the module gether window. you be surprised what you say. You'll go through the floor.

Hang on Here we go. Well, you want this glass elevator, will we go through the ceiling? I don't think so. And there's the turbine hall where it was last year and the year before. well, a good lot of it as I was when one of the central ones obsessed about the planes hanging roof and there we go.

Yeah, it was all. They've still got the interface exhibition on which has the young Apple one computer in it as I showed last time. but yeah, there's nothing there. It's time because it's all here.

Sorry this is taking a while to get in but I thought I'd just take you on a wonderful 20. Still got the train which is awesome and the entry is Daniel Daniel Green the organizer has gone mate it's it's a busy day, busy day. excellent but weird we doing okay. he's looking a bit stressed.

oh no it's not. I get rid of it then. All right good luck and here we go. This event is being photographed.

They put this up because yeah, I'm the official media person and yet technically people will be filming. So um Intel have a big thing here or there are since technology. real sense technology and all that sort of jazz. so they're still busy setting up.

it's completely dark in here. sorry about that, but if there's any grain on the noise on the footage. but they're planning. got to get together and plan.

And here's first cab off the rank robots and dinosaurs there's gave the mechatronics guy everyone knows get out today. He said he was set up like you'll set up before I even got it right there. 5 like awesome and some oh I should be Leia This is very cool. Check this out.

I Think this is the Uni of new self? yes and they got a Pacman. Nice awesome. We'll check that out running later. I've got some quadcopter and tank action happening.

and by the way, I looked at the guide on this thing tubes. There you go for Youtube aficionados. There you go to porn. All right.

there's that. Lots of robot stuff of course. but the biggest thing was I Looked at the guide thing for it and there's like 38 exhibitors here and eight of them have 3d in their title. So thick, go figure.

not that surprising. yes. the electric vehicle Association And their own boy I Love it! That is absolutely beautiful number plate. It's gold and Jake are over selling all their wares.

They were already set up my time. I Got here I think it opened it like 630 or something for setup. So Breadboards lead chaser got to have a traditional lead chaser. Yeah, we're seeing.

we saw that last time. I'm sure. beautiful. Look at that battery bank.

that's just fantastic. Come back and get some more footage of that I'm sure 3d printers coming out your backside and paper. Yeah. Advanced Paper aircraft.
There you go microscopes. Oh that's the Bio Bio hat. Yes, of course we looked at the Bio heck last time. code Rangers Kids coding 3d 3d more 3d.

more electronics. tons of it little bits. they're selling a little bit stuff. and I some steam wonder lamps made out of paper that's completely dark again.

Thanks a night Yeah! I know where what's going on? Well, because this is like more. Arnie section oh that's gonna light up right? Oh I was gonna say cuz it is a brain Isn't it fantastic? All right, and well, that's it. That is the 2015 Mini Maker Faire cuz it's just a mini. but it's fantastic that it's on again at the awesome Power saw.

Color balance on high. Ok I've got auto Everything on the camera when I go out and shoot these things I Just whack the camera. Auto. Absolutely everything.

It's just not worth it otherwise. So Auto Exposure auto, White balance, Autofocus auto. You know everything. Usually my clever Aldo but because I was carrying this around I thought I'd just whack it on that manual so you probably didn't hear your gap or somebody in there.

But anyway, there it is. Tada behind the scenes setting up 2015 Mini Maker Faire Catch you next time.

    "Dear Dave EEVblog  ,

I have tremendous respect for Dave Jones EEVblog  . I would like to set up a phone conversation between him and the Batteriser team. Dave Jones is a very respectable YouTube celebrity with very informative and fun videos to watch, with the only exception of dedicating so much energy and time to combating Batteroo Inc before having all the information needed to come to conclusions. Dave Jones has great energy, and his subscription/fan numbers speak for themselves. I just want you, Dave, to be genuinely convinced that we share the same passion and would truly appreciate Batteriser if you be the first to personally test it with our Batteriser Media Test Kit. Please check your private email, and I will respectfully offer you the Batteriser to test and review. You do not even have to make a video where you tell people if you are convinced or not. I have faith that you will give an honest review, once you see the potential of the product. You will see the benefit of saving money and environment at the same time. One of the most respectful things about Australia is they are very environmentally conscious. You, along with the Majority of Australians care about environmental benefits and saving energy with cool new tech. Australians should be more than happy and proud about being one of the world leaders in keeping the environment and communities clean as a top priority. I admire how involved with your community you are. As a University business major, I know what a big impact Dave has on the community and tech world. I believe some fans are misrepresenting you out of empty anger, and both you and your fans deserve the chance to have all the information and Batteriser before making any conclusions about the product. With your help, we can make a big impact on the world. Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Best Regards
    Batteriser team"

I love to see these maker fairs and wish we had some around here.
It do not show a lot of new stuff (if any), but it is interesting to see what people can get out of the technology. This applies to Arduino, but also to other platforms (Like mobile phones), with some clever application of the technology.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Damicske says:

@dave: Is that a Mazda 121 EV 😮  do you have some more info on that? Url is good enough 😉

Enjoyed the insightful comments, & your open, sharing, trusting interactions with the organizers, etc.
Memories of myself being there before I reached this hospice stage of being aged & frail.  Could you do other open public events too?  Markets, auctions, professional conferences where they have exhibition areas, garage sales, car boot sales, … ?

Is that a Citroen DS in that thumbnail!
