In this video we start working on the new project....a 2 stroke go kart with a Yamaha kt-100 engine. The kt 100 is a two stroke motor that is capable of 15 horsepower in this 10,000 rpm go kart. This is a completely race legal go cart that we are super excited to get completely dialed in and make some awesome videos with it.
This barn find racing go kart has not run for a few years now and definitely needs quite a bit of work to get it back into its prime so be sure to stay tuned for videos of it in the future.

If you're not getting fuel doesn't that mean that all of your bearings and rings are running dry?

    Love that Andrew Applepie

Need to watch cranking it over like that an the engine not starting it could wear the rings an piston if it’s not sucking in the mixed gas . I’d rebuild the engine top and bottom an new seals on crank

If you add alcohol is it a bad thing, alcohol burns cooler I think

Hi guys. I can’t believe, you are not able to fix two strokes engines. It’s a lot simple than 4 strokes. I'm not clear on what you did to the engine and how you did it. Did you sleeve the engine (thinking you have rebuilt the engine)? This is a very precise operation and this is where most of the problems come from. Holes must match 100%. These engines are forced and the bores are drilled to the max to get fuel in and out as well. At 11.00 you forgot the spark plug. Too bad! You have to change it immediately. The spark plug has to be changed often. That makes me think. Does the reeve system valve work? Is the spark plug collects a lot of oil and fuel? That's the engine.

I have no idea if this engine is a point or induction ignition. If it is a point, please, check the shaft opening the points (also with induction), it should not have lateral movement. Replace bushings if necessary.

The last thing is the carburetor (It might be the first thing). I don't know if this carb is a needle carb. Move the needle down for a leaner mixture and try. In my days, years ago, we used to widen the jet with special tools until the engine started to choke. Probably the jet is open too much. Replace it and widen it to one side before.

Those kt100's are pretty quick for a small engine👌

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chuck Miller says:

Tuck those teeth in and I might watch your vids 👍

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brodan Brown says:

Take the carb off and the reeds if there is one there is a pin hole that might be blocked off and not letting it suck fuel because there is no vacuum

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Craig Jones says:

Looks like the clutch is engaged

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars chimeranzl says:

What year is the chassis? Is it an RC100SC-SD?

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Idiot- 983 says:

Put your hand over the carb to choke the engine.

altho this vids like 5 yrs old, the body parts on karts are Front (bumper) sides (side pods) rear (rear spoiler)

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Greg Derrick says:

I was in Karting for many years ago. I'm not sure the exact year but I'm quite sure that Kart is a vintage
Margay Lynx. It's either an 86-87-or 1988. The M on the seat cover is a Margay trademark. I would love to find one in that
condition for complete restoration. You have quite a find. The KT-100 is probably one of the finest 2 stroke engines ever
made for the beginner. Good luck son..

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 67TUNE says:

would you sell the digitron and stuff lol?

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Anthony Reddy says:

I have a cart I got from a friend that has a 100 kt motor but no way too start it other than a tie strap around the wheel.
Probably going too put a 240 gx motor I have on it and rig up an electric start to it.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Leach says:

The engine has been around since the early '80s. The setup you have is probably dated 1990-1993 vintage. This was the height of my racing career. I ran almost the exact same setup in the WKA Nationals. I know every part of that kart like the back of my hand.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lehmann Peters says:

The KT-100 is designed to run on 100 octane racing fuel. Putting pump gas in it will cause preignition and much lower HP output.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars joe doakes says:

Be sure and squirt some water in the carb , it'll make it GO Faster !
