Rotary Shifter Go Kart build starts now!
In this video we show you guys our ultra rare 1975 KC27 rotary motor found in the Hercules W2000 Motorcycle. This is a 5 speed 294cc rotary motor with close to 30 bhp. In order to get it running, we had to completely disassemble the motor and take apart the entire rotor assembly to rebuild the rotary motor. This rotary go cart uses an engine similar to the artic cat 303cc rotary snow mobile so we think that we are going to be able to buy side seals from that to get this thing running. This is going to be one cool shifter go kart build! Now that this thing runs we are ready to start building a kart!
Stay tuned for the next video of this thing where we build the kart!

Hey guys we're back with our race bike, totally done our stage for turbo EFI motor and, most importantly, our rotary that we finally got running and it kick-starts on the first kick. So that's we got a lot of things going on here, but have a big announcement. We're getting close to a hundred K subs, we wanted to relaunch our merch, so I'll put it all in the corners here, but we have awesome. Like c10 shirts CJ shirts, we have some cool like JDM, inspired 212 shirts, with the turbo cart, so they're all made by joe himself and he's really good artist, and it's cool that we're making our own merch of trying to sell it.

So if you at least check it out we're going through teespring, so all of our merch is you mean link through the bottom of the video, so hope you enjoy the rotary content. It's awesome, alright guys. So this is how the rotary sits from the last episode of really just the complete rebuild. So now this is the really fun part and also the stressful part.

We've done all the work. We spent a lot of money on parts and a lot of research and time into rebuilding this thing. So now what we need to do is just really get down to business and try to get this thing running. You are doing a battery operated the ignition system on this thing, you can do this pretty easily to a engine that has points you just have to be a little bit careful that when it's switched on when the point is it's open that way, you're not grinding Out the circuit and that's why we actually had to get one of these big old coils, because we have smoke to that little ATV coil instantly.

We have a 12 volt, go power, sports battery link in description going to our 12 volt automotive style coil and then on the positive side. And then the negative side goes to the point. So when the point is open, then this circuit has to go out and ground through the spark plug and then when. The point is closed, the circuit goes through the engine and that will hook up to occur.

So we got our carburetor everything checked out alright, so I just kind of little gasket for it. Nothing too crazy, just kind of temporary and now they're reuniting carburetor to the engine. We're gon na see if this engine generates enough enough suction to basically pull gasps. Oh yeah feel sweet dang.

That works. That's crazy! Okay, so if you keep make it stay running, I just think there's so much stuff in this engine right now from what you built it that it's just having some issues. So I guess we're just gon na keep messing with that sounds like a rotary people, hey, that's so sound like a rotary. Oh man consume terms of having low compression, so we just gotten this compression tester.

So let's see how it does. Okay, that yeah it's only 30 psi yeah yeah like if we push in the valve and then here turn it over. It makes 30 every single time so we're thinking that either, like all the apex seals, are bad or it's like leaking from somewhere yeah. Maybe the springs aren't like pushing out enough to get a good seal, so we're gon na.
We are starting to take off the transmission we'll take that apart and then tighten up the side. Casings first see if that changes. Anything then, after that, we might have to take it apart and look at the apex you, let's go. Okay, guys, we are back again.

Thank you so much for y'all's help and support as we've kind of gone through this entire project. Here it's been a long road. Getting to this point and we're essentially right back to where we started, but I mean this is going to be our probably last attempt at this we're gon na pull out all the stops. We're gon na make this fricking thing run all right.

The problem before is: we had a little bit of low compression issues so now what we're thinking is that in the seal, there's no there's no gasket or anything in this. So if there's even a slight amount of warping in these plates, there's going to be compression leakage out of the side chambers here so plus. We also have some like kind of corrosion and build up around the sides like especially right there, and it's like you, can feel it it is raised. So what we did is we ordered some like little pieces of glass and then we're gon na put some super super fine grit sandpaper on it well make sure we're sanding the surface completely level.

This llaman bond, which is used to seal two-stroke casing so we're just gon na put a sparing amount around the outside, just a tiny bit to help the two surfaces seal. Our Apex sprains were broken into pieces when we took about luckily they're very soon dimensions to the mazda 12a seals, the three millimeter ones. So, basically, that's really cool. So all we're gon na have to do is trim these a little bit.

There are way stronger way. Thicker and that's gon na give us a lot more pushing power of the apex seals against the rotor housing. So we have a lot of stuff to do and we're kind of just crossing our fingers here. Listen the way you guys said, listen to what we've been on a bunch of rotary forums like the suzuki re5 forums, helped us out a lot.

So let's get this freaking rotary motorcycle engine running guys. Yes, you are yeah. It's like feels a lot better. This side feels something that is, you can feel yeah thank good, almost sucking itself down, and it feels like really solid.

Oh just feels right feels good. It seems like it seems, like you're gon, na get a good result with this scissor prepped ready for the younger bond and we're doing this to the same thing. We've done a hundred times to this rotor yeah, all the seals and stuff. We went super in-depth in the first video, so I'll link it right now.

This bad boy is ready to go in so by for part of the shaft facing down one point towards the spark plug hole. Let's do this just watch the apex seals, so they don't freakin fall out, minty, fresh, say goodbye, hopefully, for the last time, it's all together with our new APEC steel springs and we're now time to put the fan on. So we can crank it over by hand and see how this thing feels, so we also use Loctite on the bolts, as recommended by y'all, in the comments. So thank you.
Look at this huh, so hand thread the not on. I said some what something diverge to turn dude, there's no spark plug in either like I don't know guys if you've noticed, if you like, before I got a spark plug spark plug, is in fans on and off this. It's like that's like um like it's like. It feels like go 100, this 79 CC.

Are you like crappy little ATV engines? It feels like about that much compression. Okay. So, let's see if it gets more than 30 was that 1990. That's actually really was good for the rotary, no that's like with, like.

Ah crap. I don't remember, I think, like rx Evans, do you like. I know I did once 20 something Hana 90. Is it a lot three times better yeah this thanks.

Everyone good all right guys. Transmission is on we're in kick-start mode. Oh yeah, okay, that's that's! All we needed to see this thing runs good. We are ready.

Sorry, this is the. This is a crappy camera. It doesn't matter. The carburetor is freaking tilted right now.

It sounds so excited dude, it's a freaking prat. It sounds like it. It sounds like a rotary guys. Let go! Imagine this like three foot long literally right next to you like we're gon na be sitting right here: six-speed manual, dental ooh, the coolest part yeah.

Oh yeah guys this made like the probably close to $ 2,000. We have into this motor totally worth it. It's super smoky in here it seems like. Are we definitely weren't running it way to lean as far as oil mixture goes, it probably need a little bit more fuel.

I just lost my voice from freaking screaming, but this thing is done. Would it be possible without go power sports without all of your guys's help the our Suzuki re5 form up with a link in there Atkins rotary? They didn't sponsor us, but they helped us a lot. And if you are watching this and then you should sponsor us with some rotary stuff in the future, we'd love to get our hands on like we're rotary rotary junkies now. So this is good stuff.

So this is now definitely going to go on a shifter, cart or so stay tuned, freakin thumbs up subscribe like this is the most unsure thing we've ever done. We literally had no rotary experience going into this. Like watch that first video and like think about how many times I say, I don't know what the heck's going on and call the rotor housing a cylinder and stuff okay. So, thank you guys.

So much stick with us get on that notification squad see you next time.

Usually, I'd you find a shop that rebuilds alternators, or electric motors, they can rebuild that starter! There is a place in W.V. called (American Starter & Alternator) they could definitely do it!!!

90psi is great for a rotary engine…that's the minimum for good combustion on a piston engine..I'd say y'all did great!!

I'd try adding a Reed-Valve cage (Just 2 sided) on the entry side plate hole (Yanmar Diesel, SAE papers 710581 and 720466), also having the air filter blown with pressure air from cooling fan, as in Citroรซn Ami, Dyane, Mehari; some install a Mikuni type 32 carb. The best arrangement would be having the intake plate at rear, but this turn is very difficult to implement. Best results oil is Shell Rotella SAE 30, SAE 40 for hot weather; 3 to 4% in gas. Salut +

Awesome video.. one question why use the glass with sandpaper to weld? Thanks!

Don't forget to run premix with the gas, running it dry will destroy the housing and/or wear the shit out of the apex seals. You shouldn't have to run a ton in it being such a tiny single rotor so order about 6 quarts of idemitsu and that should last you a good while depending on how much you plan to rip around with it. otherwise great job on rebuilding. I've already watched all of the other videos, pretty cool shit, keep it up.

way to go guys, i had the opportunity to buy a rotary engine from a arctic cat panther and i didn't, this video literally reminds me of every reason i should of bought it. great video guys!

Looks like a Herkules W-2000 engine. If that is so, it would make 32hp (23.5kW) and 24.3 lb-ft (33Nm) of torque. Plenty for a go kart

That first brap got me excited af! I'm a rotary fan

Hey, guys, that thing could kill you by ripping your head off.
Getting in close to the fan wearing a hoodie with loose neck strings hanging around your neck is simply stupid. The fan can/will suck your strings in a then the engine will rip your head off.
All professionals have safe practices. NEVER, EVER, NEVER wear loose clothing, jewellery or other items that can easily be pulled into and wrapped around moving parts.
