Hi just a quick update video to let you know that I've signed a lease on a new lab. Yes! after I think what is at seven and a half years or something in the current Eevblog lab I'm finally moving into a bigger space. If you don't know where I'm sitting at the moment, this is not the lab, but this is actually the office which is totally in a totally separate building in the same Business Park though from my lab. so I've had to separate those two things because I basically ran out of room in my lab I couldn't have both the lab itself plus might you know rather large desk here with my three monitors and my you know everything else to do my video, edit and stuff like that.

Also have a desk for David also have a desk for my logistics person Sue's and all the boxes and everything for all the logistics stuff and things like that. So just over two years ago, I at least this 33 square meter office in addition to my 50 square meter lab and it's been a bit inconvenient to say the least to like. you know, I've got to shoot videos at lab, then I've got to come here and actually edit videos. and while I'm editing videos I often go I'd it would be nice to just you know, shoot an extra clip or something like that, but it's really inconvenient I have to go even walk or drive or ride my bike back to the lab.

shoot the thing. Come back here and it's it's. just. you know, it's not very conducive to a productive work environment.

So anyway, my lease is up here at the lab. I'm probably going to boot me out soon, but I am on a month by a month lease here. So yeah, I've decided to get a bigger like a one consolidated space and fight and move the lab into there. and it kind of.

It's kind of fun in that it's gonna be a sort of like a clean-out of the eevblog lab. Re sorting of everything, re setting up from scratch, moving all the benches. everything will sort of like. the layout of the lab will pretty much remain almost exactly the same.

You may not even notice much if any different. between shooting videos in the old lab and shooting a new one. that's the hope. Anyway, you'll probably even have you know have exactly the same background here.

and like I've got myself a nice you know, a cubicle to edit in with Windows And yeah, it should be good because if you don't know, the current lab does not have any windows and it's a little bit depressing. So anyway, I'm getting a hundred square meters so it's an improvement on the 88 square meter total that I have now. Doesn't sound like a big extra improvement, but it really is. When you actually consolidate the spaces and and everything it you know every square meter matters in terms of lab and working space and stuff like that.

So hopefully I'll have more room for like more dedicated benches where I can just manage stuff that I get in maybe like a walk around bench I've always wanted a bench that I can just like walk and move my camera all the way around you know to access and things that just makes it nicer. So I can have that in the new lab so that's gonna be really cool. So basically what I'm doing in the video is saying well. I I've just signed a lease, but I don't have the keys yet I get them on Thursday I believe.
So I've decided to start because most of the work is going to be actually packing up the lab like boxing everything that but not just boxing stuff for the move, but actually sorting every categorizing stuff because I don't want to just pack everything your random boxes, move it over the lab and then just like it's all the mess and I'll just never get around to sorting stuff. So I'm using the move. that's an opportunity to sort stuff. So hopefully I have some piles at the end of stuff that you know categorized stuff, boxes properly, everything categorized and sorted that I want to move to the new lab? another pile that I might be base and stuff I might give some stuff away I might just you know, stuff that just has to be tossed out or whatever.

So yeah, I'm using it as a sort of like a clean slate move. So I've got to spend I think mostly effort is going to be spent sorting stuff out cleaning the benches. so I'm ready to go cleaning the shelves, but just boxing them up, labeling everything, categorizing all my tools and other projects and boards and stuff. So I I've kind of like half ass done that in the current lab.

If you watch my mailbag videos, you'll see all the like off to the side. I've got like Oh tubs and you know all sorts of tubs and stuff labeled and things like that. but I haven't nearly gone far enough to sorting out all my stuff in my current lab. I Spent a good lot of my time just looking for stuff.

You wouldn't believe how long it takes me. Where's my function generator? I Got no idea I've got move stuff and peak like it can take me, you know, 10 20 minutes just to find my function generator or the particular scope that I want. You might think that's crazy, but that's the lab anyway. So I'm just letting you know that probably I'm not going to have time to shoot some content I'll try I don't have any content in the bag so that we know mailbag today.

there may not be a teardown Tuesday tomorrow, but I've got to either do it now or next week or the week after or whatever. So like, at some point, I have to spend all the time to sort and do everything and I unfortunately don't have time to make content. but David he will be still making some content. He's at the moment going to start on reverse engineering that / Duke programmer so you know.

Hopefully we'll have a video this week to upload. Something like that is just about to start. Hopefully we'll find some interesting stuff anyway. I Just wanted to let you know that sorry if you don't see much content, you'll know what's happening.

And if you want to follow what's happening over on eevblog to is where I'll be doing any live videos because I'll probably just set up like the live camera and you can watch me just move. Boring is bat poo. but if you want to do it, go over to eevblog to Linkedin down below and at the end and subscribe to that and you'll get all my live notifications where you can turn up live chat. Everyone else hopefully chat to me potentially while I'm moving stuff and things like that.
Yeah, be there or be square and if you want to end, patrons will get a first look at the new lab as well. So I do a like a lab empty lab to a video. so if you support me on patreon you'll get to see that as soon as I move in. Hope so There you go.

That's it. That's enough waffling. So sorry. yeah I've got to take some downtime to move the lab so might as well start now.

Anyway, catch you next time.

Are you going to miss out on dumpster diving, or do you come across more stuff locally?

100 square meters is a pretty good sized office. For most of my career all I had was a car for office space, so consider yourself lucky mate!

Dave, please grab the opportunity and replace those ugly ass brownish ESD mats. When I watch one of your older videos, I'm always amazed by the difference. Their original vivid blue colour is OK (altough I personally like the green ones better), but that brownish tint they got due to aging is horrible, kinda depressing.

This kinda explains your strike, someone saw this and that you had promised a livestream and you're successful on yt. So they abuse the report function to block your stream on a technicality.
