Today we drive the rotary shifter go cart on the street and do a top speed run! This rotary go kart is powered by a 1975 Hercules W2000 motorcycle and is a complete monster for this small go kart frame! In order to get this thing running and driving again we had to remake an exhaust system using a cheaper amazon muffler, we also needed to weld up a system to keep tension in the chain. This kart is also rocking the 787b Renown livery of the 1991 Le Mans car. While it doesn't seem like much, it took us hours to get everything up to spec. After it was ready to go, we took it out to some abandoned roads and really let it get up to top speed! This go cart hit a top speed of 80mph and it was absolutely crazy to go that fast so close to the ground! Thanks for watching and be sure to stay tuned for some more ripping this thing! (re-gear video coming very soon!)

In the last video, this thing ran so well and we got a bunch of awesome clips of ripping it. Part of the problem is that we don't really know how fast it is. We know it's really fast and the problem was on the road we wrote on before we just outran how much we were comfortable with doing just because about bumpy a curvy. It was so.

The plan in this video is first of all, we need to put a new exhaust system on this because we lost the DG pipe last episode and then we also need to find a way to tighten the chain tight from the last video. Our DG pipe fell off because we don't support it right and it broke right at the welds. So we got this brand new a little bit bigger a little bit quieter silencer that will just slap alright now here, so we can just kind of shorten the pipe baby inserts there, so we can shorten it, maybe like we have to six or seven inches yeah. Now we know kind of what we want to end up doing with our exhaust here and before we start welding or grinding.

I'm super happy to announce our new partnership with op trail. These are basically the nicest welding and grinding masks on the market, so basically they sent us the crystal 2.0 in the clear max. The crystal 2.0 is what I'm really excited about: the normal welding Hamlet's, only let in five percent of light. This thing lets in 31 percent of life, so each base should be like, as if you're looking through a whale to on a camera, and it's one of those things well, I noticed from my short time using it like you, can tell what the world looks like Before you're done normally with my harbour frame, baskets, basically you're just welding, and then you see what the you don't know, what the final product is until you open up the mass, but this while you're welding, you can see how it's penetrating the metal and stuff like That also same thing goes with the clear max: it's a panoramic lens super nice stuff guys are, the links are going to be in the description.

So that being said, let's weld some stuff in a little while, since we had an update, but we welded some bolts by our chain tensioner to keep the bolt in the same spot, so it doesn't move around and loosen the chain. We use the tie rod to make a mount for our exhaust here and then on the actual exhaust pipe. We put the little spring mounts to hold the muffler on, so we're gon na get mounting the muffler right. Now we got the exhaust and chain tensioner all pulls it up.

So you know it's time for now. Let's go find the top speed of this thing. Finally, top speed time we're gon na start with just getting some clips and getting in the cart warmed up just in this basic area we're familiar with, but you ever got cooling your helmet yeah. So one of our viewers had this for like a previous bill, he had and he was kind enough to give it to us.

So now we have a matching helmet to go with our cart. So yeah pretty nervous, pretty excited about this thing. We got all the safety gear we'll be really safe, but yeah it'll be really fun. To get this thing, the top speed yeah and also check out our merch Joe works, really hard and got us a new rotary cart shirt out.
I'm gon na put it in the corners of the video here. We also still have this rotary power shirt but check them out. They are sick, but that being said, let's get to rippin this thing get a proper speed. Reading we're gon na use a speedometer F.

Just tape to the steering wheel here so I think all we need to do now is push start. This thing: okay, he got there. How fast did we hit baby like 8000? More that might have been an expletive x' for that yeah? Oh hold baby. That was a little scared.

How does the whole alright looks a little rattled? First of all, we do not condone this activity because at home yeah on that first poll I did. I didn't, keep myself up crashing a couple of times. This thing is wild. The main problem is that we have slicks and there's a lot of gravel and we have no ground clearance.

So I hate that. Sometimes I hate, gravel and kind of like skid out to the side or if y'all saw, I got a little close to the edge of the road on one of the rollers and that kind of pulled me off. So we need to make sure we stay away from that and then bottoming out just sends this thing wherever it wants to, but other than that pretty solid, steering's, really good, actually yeah so like. If you were on a if you're on a perfect track, you could like not steal, sketchy and ya know like it's really solid.

The road is what feels sketchy, not the carts. Oh okay, yeah. I think it has a little bit more inner. I think we can at least get to 80 so for a little bit of like scale on these roads up here, for, like the last videos, we've been shooting we've been going around 55, maybe like topping out at 60, and then I was in fifth gear when I hit 77 and this thing's a six-speed, so we are a little under geared.

We could definitely drop the gear down and probably get a little bit more speed. Okay, so in stay tuned for next video, when we rehear this thing, but for now we're just going to go to a little bit, smoother Road have a little bit more safety. It's a little bit there's more people around, but it should be a lot safer yeah. Maybe we can beat 80, maybe get in the 90s.

That'd be sick, okay, guys new spot. The following footage is all CGI yeah, but this is yeah. This is a way better spot a lot smoother, so it should be a lot safer, won't get beginning like buffeted. Eight feet each side yeah on the bumpy roads, that's kind of more of a hit and quit.

So, let's just go alright guys we're back at storage ready to pack. This thing up. Unfortunately, we had to leave a little early because we almost had a run-in with the law, but we did get a top speed yeah. So soon it's super.

Well, we hit a top speed of 80 miles, an hour which is very impressive way faster than we ever need to go. We just kind of hit like a little rpm wall. We just couldn't get past that it couldn't go any faster but make sure to tune in next time. When we read air this thing you make it able to launch drift all that other type of fun stuff.
So thank you. Go power sports! Thank you! Altro! For the new welding mass that were using this video check out the shirts I design with this card on them, they look sweet. I think you guys are like oh make sure to subscribe, like this video and we'll catch you next time.

Should I swap a rotary or a GSXR1100 into my geo metro? It'll be a rear engine.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mitchell Farr says:

A little hp tip; change the way the intake changes to directly forward and find a free flowing filter that doesn't block the air flow straight to the carb intake, will help all over the rev range look up 'ram air effect'

Bigger carb and let it rev higher it can take the rpms it just sounds like ut cant breath

What is the name of this engine? Or ones like it. Wondering if I can find one

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Porter says:

If u were to add a turbo that would increase u alot!!! Rotories are like turbines and the more forced air u give it the faster it will go. Nice cart goodluck

She definitely has more then 80 in her you guys really make me want to build one

Just started watching your videos this kart is awesome! It was crazy when I started this video though I know exactly where y’all are at!

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mallett Adventures says:

That’s easily a 100 mile an hour cart once you get the right gearing. It doesn’t even seem close to be fully wrapped in 6th gear. But then I’m not familiar with rotary engines and what they’re able to handle. But it’s definitely an awesome beast!

I would love to see thos kart vs some of the 125 cc at a proper track.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gunnar Ray23 says:

not bad for 80mph with a rotary in a kart, but a 125 shifter kart could easily beat that.

Faster than the speed of Brapp.

    Insane.

    Nuts.

    Crazy.

    Beautiful.

Channel would be so much better if you just went to an actual track every once in a while cause driving the thing at 50% isn't very impressive

Dorito Kart is the one thing I never knew I needed in my life.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Trevor Miller says:

I'm surprised that the carby hasn't been turned around 180° and a scoop put on for a better intake. Still it's a sweet ride, well done! 👍

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Midnight Mechanic says:

Turbo it, no need for gear changes. It'll have the boost to carry it into 6th.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars wankelpower91 says:

Hey guys. I'm driving a original Hercules Wankel 2000 and a good Hercules runs about 135 km/h maybe you are a Small driver (I am not) you will hit 140. So the kart should go 85 mph and more. Turbocharging is no good idea to this engine. It suffers from overheating back bearing even in the NA. It's just air-cooled you will melt it with a turbo.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Josh Ace says:

If you make arm air for the intake you could make some hp but got bump up the fuel.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kyle budd says:

What mix ratio are you running in the fuel? Whatever the rec always run it a little rich. Be sure to run rotary premix.
