Yes, it's as stupid as it sounds.
It's NOT a joke, it's the dumbest Kickstarter idea ever.

Hi, Yes, it's crackpot crowdfunding time again in this case. Kickstarter And yes, it involves wireless power because that's the just the ridiculousness of choice. These days, everyone's going wireless power crazy and I've debunked you beam of course. I've debunk that was an infrared charging one.
I've probably got to do a video on that in urges scam as well. That's like that's a publicly funded company that's just coming down the toilet because it's just impractical. It's just absolute everything's Everyone's crazy about wireless powered and they think they have the solution. Well, this one thinks they've got the solution as well.
It's called the Bat Bump. Now this is so bad. Like this is so ridiculously like, obviously not possible that it's almost got to be a joke. and I it has to be a joke.
Um, because anyone who knows anything about wireless charging at all knows that this just simply isn't possible. So I hey, I've done joke crowdfunders before when I tried to raise a hundred million dollars to buy the Fairfax mansion I raised ninety five bucks. Almost got there to turn the Fairfax mansion into a hackerspace. So yeah, like obviously a joke, right? and in this one.
but if it is okay, but like I I would not be surprised if this is completely genuine because it's just the thing to do these days and it just in the modern world, this would not surprise me at all that this is legit and I've actually reached out to the creator of this site, but she hasn't actually replied yet to confirm whether or not this is legit. anyway. I Hope it's legit because it's freaking hilarious. So let's get into it the bat: Bump: a mobile app to share and receive phone battery? Yes, right off the bat, anyone with any knowledge of all just goes.
oh kidding me? Yes, it is double facepalm worthy. We are bad, but we are creating the first battery sharing app to share charge wirelessly an app which can share charge between phones. No charger? No worries. Nickolas Video here.
it's just got rid. Wayne key background music I won't but all low on battery. Oh no charger? No worries. Search for people nearby who can blood some charge off.
no workers and you'd find the person. Yep. I Accept Yeah, let's get together. Let's join our phones together and we can not.
Yeah, I'll be there in two minutes. I'll meet you there bump and you can transfer charge between phones. Heck, why not integrate the app with tinder and you can, you know, hook up all your phones are charging. You know there's an idea.
Oh Give you that one for free. So let's like come on. Right off the bat. I Don't have to explain why this is just the dumbest thing ever.
Do anyone who knows anything and of course all the the photoshopped things are all fake. All the images are fake. they haven't actually developed in that yeah yet. and they actually admit this.
Further on here we go. the future of wireless charging. So you find someone nearby who's running this app and you go. can I blood some charge off your please? Yeah, no worries and you put them up and put your phone's back to back in. The transfers charge back bump is the next step in the evolution of wireless charging. Be able to share your battery, review a social network in real time. it's not quite in the real time. You got to meet up with them and then you're gonna stand there for two hours.
Join in your phone for two hours, Try two hundred or two thousand hours with your phones back-to-back because of the peace and amount of energy you're going to be able to transfer even if your cord, which you can't But we'll get into that bat bumping blazing, Keeping up with the times and ahead of them to I It's so ahead of itself, doesn't exist yet. The technology to do it. We see how wireless charging this change. We interact smart device and minimizing wires.
Wank wank, wait, wait wait how it works. The transfer of the battery between smartphones occurs via Near Field Communication NFC coils which are built into most phones these days. This technology is currently available and the app utilizes this tech. Knology Current funding would be used for app development, marketing, and ongoing software updates.
So give us the 30 grand they're asking for and we'll develop this app. but it gets better. Stick around. Oh, you've got to have blockchain.
It wouldn't be a modern Kickstarter thing without blockchain technology because you know you can't just hook up with people and go, hey, can I blood some charge-off Yeah, um you know I think I don't want something in return. So you know what was charging? Um, every time you battery bump someone, you can earn bebe tokens. Yeah, they accumulate in your crypto wallet because yeah, that's gonna be a thing. Just add crypto and blockchain to every Kickstarter thing.
I'm surprised this is on Kickstarter Incredible! Usually this type of trash is on IndieGoGo and the scammers platform of choice. but no, this is like you kind of expect hearts on Kickstarter it's you know, it's a bit more legit, but anyway, back bumper. Excited to join the future And they've got a website which has absolutely nothing curiously down the bottom. It's got 2015 copyright by bat bump I am Anyway, yeah and it just links through to this thing, right? We predict it will go smoothly with new inflation ship models.
We'll need to test the NFC charging. Well, here you go. No, I don't have to explain to my audience, but I will. For those who don't know, near-field communications is a power and well, it's primarily a data wireless data communications thing.
But yes, it can transfer power, but it's designed to Tran to passively power the target device. One of those NFC you know tags or whatever you do. you're like when you go under the toll booth or whatever. or yeah, you know you've got your NFC card in your credit card or whatever and you can, you know, tap it and things like that. The chip on there is powered passively by the magnetic field which comes across NFC So you can actually transfer power with NFC But there's two problems. One is that it's extremely low-power It's in the order of Mille watts or you know that sort of order. I Believe the see standard like has like a maximum or something or an average transmit level of five amps per meter. I won't going to fill strength and all that sort of stuff.
and even that it, you know you only get like tens of million. What's out of this thing? It's it's nothing really. It's useless. As far as a phones concerned with five ten watt hour, you know five watt hour battery or something is just ridiculous.
Just run the numbers, you don't even. Anyway, the second problem is that it can't do it because even if you were able to passively receive that power, there's no circuitry built into phones that have Nsv that would allow them to put the charge back into the battery. As pissant energy harvesting as it is, you know you couldn't even put the tens of million to the battery. So the technology in your phone does not exist for you to put two phones back-to-back with NEC and charge them.
It simply does not exist. but Sony have actually patented this. they're our in 2017 I don't know if it was granted and I'll link in the pattern down below If you want to check it out powering devices, consumer electronics devices via NFC and I don't think they they just did it because well sometime down the future who knows you know it might be a thing and they'll have a patent for it. maybe if it gets granted.
So they just speculative patent in this thing and they don't mention at all in the pattern that I can find about any sort of power level transfer. So this technology does not exist inside phones. but maybe maybe they just got it wrong. and they mean the Qi charger which is built into you know a majority of phones these days and Qi charging is can legitimately charge phones, but if two phones have the Qi charger building the same problem, you can't put them back to back and transfer one to the other.
One needs to be have the transmission circuitry and the transmission coil because the transmission coils are usually thicker and they've got to have better magnetics in them to form the resonant you know circuit for more efficient power transfer. I Won't go into all the details but they're not building to the phones. the phones are just Qi power wireless charging receivers. They can't actually transmit that to anything else.
Um, so it's just it's both NFC and Qi Charging is just cannot be done. So yeah, neither of those technologies actually exist And here's the interesting thing right. they've had this to be running this for like I don't know how many days are they been running it and not sure when it started. but anyway, they didn't update because they couldn't change their main campaign. Bat-bomb are developing an app. The technology aspect guarding the transfer of battery would be purchased from a company and or persons who already have developed the technology. We will not be to not be developing this technology ourselves nor utilizing any technology within the app without permission. The current funding will be used to have the shell of the app developed ready for the technology to be integrated when and if it is available.
So they admit that, give us 30 grand and we'll write this app which which we are telling you does absolutely nothing because the technology is not built into the phones to do it and they just telling near this in an update. The video and creative skills are to give a story and creative stills are to give a storyboard of how the app technology would work together once it is available. Once it is integrate alongside Bat-bomb this is our research and development phase and we think and appreciate our backers patience and support. Oh my goodness they are asking 30 Grand to develop it.
It's got to be a joke. So are doing a reality TV show about people reacting to Kickstarter react crowdfunding to react to Bogus Kickstarter's in that case Hi I'm Dave Jones from the eevblog check out my channel Youtube.com slash ee-vie blog or Eevblog. Calm, no worries. um I it's got to be a joke, right? Anyway, as I said I reached out to her to see if this is legit and she hasn't gotten back to me yet.
but I hope I hope it's legit because this is hilarious. I Would totally believe this is a legit thing in today's world and they've already raised three hundred and twenty nine bucks. Oh yeah, who knows. You know people are dumb enough to back this and they might.
What do they do if they get their thirty grand goal? You know, if it's a joke and they don't reach their gold, no one gets charged and it's all funny. But you know, Unbelievable. Anyway I don't need to say anything more. This is just like the dumbest idea ever.
If this is legit, Wow the balls it takes to ask for 30 grand, if it's legit, and then just admit, oh yeah, no, we're not actually going to do anything you know like we're just going to develop the shell of an app which won't work until such time as the technology comes along in your phone to do it. and it's just the dumbest thing ever. anyway. I'd Come please be real, Please Be real.
Anyway, Wireless charging. It's all the thing. and it's just ridiculous. Everyone thinks they're gonna crack the wireless charging thing.
Anyway, that's a good laugh. hope you enjoyed it. And as always discussed down below, catch you next time you.
i just watched then video i know its old but i find it so ironic that my phone S21 ultra can in fact charge other phones by simple sticking them back to back. just ironic is all. ha-ha its fairly fast to. about the same as a 5w wireless charger. (feels like i don't know its actually speed 20min got about 30% of my moms phone. and it normally takes about a hour to charge so seems about in that ball park.
This video is a prime example of how the Streisand effect is real. For those of you that don't know the effect was named after Barbara Streisand and is a phenomenon that occurs when an attempt to hide, remove or censor information has the unintended consequence of increasing awareness of that information. People are then aware that information is being kept from them and a then very motivated to uncover and share the information.
A google search revealed that someone had downloaded or copied the original video and has made that video available to view on YouTube and other sites and the entire story including the original as well as updates to the story have been found on a lot of other sites across the internet and includes all the updated details from this video as well.
Ironically this kinda came to a thing with qi charging though obviously NFC chips aren't nearly effective enough to share a charge. But you also need a phone that supports reverse wireless charging in the first place.
Oh, I read buttbump first and got confused.
Funding Canceled
Funding for this project was canceled by the project creator on Jun 27 2018. EXACTLY on the same day this vid came out, wonder why….
Do you know, that know (about one year later) there are phones out there, that can transfer energy to other mobile devices? As an example, search for "Wireless PowerShare" in the user manual of the Samsung Galaxy S10. This sounds to me just like BattBump, but without paying via crypto currency. Did I get something wrong?!?
[DATA EXPUNGED]
I've only got 5% battery left Dave, can you lend me 20% so I can watch the rest of this video?
They're probably gonna relaunch this soon and use an s10 with reverse wireless charging as some kinda bullshit 'demonstration' of it 'working'
Huawei Mate 20 Pro can charge other phones wirelessly. Yeah, I know, I respond to old video, but still.
the new galaxy all ready does this
They should make a product that allows you to directly charge your phone, without needing to rely on anyone else. Like if your phone was low on battery, you could use it and it would increase the battery level. I know what you're wondering; where would the power come from? Well there would be stations conveniently located all around you that allow you to directly access this power. You would simply find one of these stations, and link it to you phone. To increase efficiency, it could potentially utilize a wired connection, which minimizes power losses.
Crazy idea, I know. But I think it has potential.
Isn't this now a thing – samsung S10 you can wirelessly charge other phones. Any of you holier than thou pedestal preachers going to walk back & issue an apology?
Just last year I downloaded myself some extra RAM. So this seems just as possible.
Oh it seems samsung stole this battbump idea for Samsung s10 :p
The saddest part is how stupid people are that they think or believe this is true and real.
Turns out the technology is available now. Didn't take long.
Anyway, to bad she had Thunderfoots video taken down. It was a hoot.
I think it uses crypto currents to wirelessly charge
