As if Dymo adding DRM to force you to use their labels wasn't low enough, they have been BUSTED reusing their old 450/4XL Amazon listings in order to keep all their old positive reviews to make you think people are positively reviewing their new 550/5XL DRM model!
This deception should be reported to Amazon.

#Amazon #BUSTED #Dymo

Hi Just an update to my uh, main channel video I just did. I'll link it in if you haven't seen it. about how a Dymo have absolutely destroyed their reputation and business by being the first in the industry to introduce Drm Digital Rights Management into their labels to force you into using their brand labels, you can no longer use any third-party labels at all if you buy the new 500 or 5xl series printers from Dymo and only an absolute fool would buy a Dymo printer now. and they're getting absolutely hammered in the reviews.

Um, for their printers. Here's just an Australian site and they're just getting one star Reviews all over the shop and domo are desperately trying to respond, um, you know they they respond to everything you know, trying to say, oh, it's it's for your own good that we're doing this. You know to have a better customer experience. Wank wank, wait again, they're absolutely making fools of themselves.

Anyway, if you thought that it was sneaky enough that the bastards were doing Drm in their Uh printers now in their Uh paper, their labels. Well, thanks to the Um viewer on Uh, my previous video, that um, pointed this out, they discovered that on Amazon, they found it on Amazon Uk. But if we go over to Amazon Us, look what the Sneaky Bastards have done. Okay, here's the new 550 Turbo laser printer, right? This is seems to be the official Dymo store, right? The official listing for the 550 and it's got 943 ratings? You know? Look, it's got a 4.3 Okay, so you know this is what you'd expect for any product.

You know, most any decent product you'd expect. You know, mostly. Uh, thumbs up. And then you know you know a mix of others and a few disgruntled people because I don't know they couldn't use it or had some bad experience or whatever.

But what they've done is these are not new ratings. What they've done is they've reused their old fire of 450 listing with all those good reviews going back years and they've simply replaced it. They've renamed it, relabeled it, uploaded the new photos, new text, everything else. So they keep all their old good reviews.

Because if you actually go down to the ratings down here, check it out. Look all of the new reviews. Nope. 143 people found it useful, does not work with old labels or third-party labels.

Doesn't work. 116 people found it use 119. Less functionality than Dymo 400 series it. I'm just so frustrated at Label Bully.

Dymo is no longer a viable label printing option. But look, if you actually scroll past this okay, you get from June 2020. Handy Tool April 3rd, 2019. This product wasn't released.

I think it was released like the latter half of 2020 last year. So it's been out like six months at most or something like this. So all these old reviews February 2021. But all these good reviews are for the old look.

It even has it in the title Dymo 450 The Bastards are have reused their listing because they know that they're going to get absolutely hammered. This is not by accident. This is very deliberate. They have deliberately reused their old listings so that they can get that.
Keep all their old good ratings because most people won't scroll down. They'll just go by this. Although you know they might even mouse over it something like that or you accidentally mouse over it and you know that people just going to go by that. Oh yeah, Dymo, I've heard of them.

They're pretty good. Like this gets like, you know, four and a halfish stars. And yeah, I'll get that. And then you get locked in for life on their labels.

Um, because there's just no compatible labels out there. Nobody's cloned the Rfid chip inside the roll yet. And they're more like industrial. Uh, four by six inch size label printer.

The Five Xl. They've done exactly the same thing. look 3718 ratings. Look at this.

You think this is pretty Schmick label printer right? For you know you use these are these bigger wider ones for your like a Dhl and Ups or whatever shipping labels. I use a zebra printer for this. I don't use a Dymo for this and I never use a Dymo again. This is just unbelievable.

Anyway, they've done exactly the same thing down here if you look at all of the new things. So yep, I'm going to say this is helpful. Yep. New Rfid chip that Dymo design forces you to buy their labels.

Not joking. You cannot use any labels but Dymo which are 300 more in price. I actually looked, um, in my previous video 10 times order of magnitude, more price. and that's just like a local ebay seller, Let alone if you're buying bulk from like a wholesaler or something like that, there's probably like two orders of magnitude difference in the price.

Unbelievable. So here is why I gave this product a one star and that was pretty generous and as you can see reviews dating back to 2016. Busted. Unbelievable.

The sheer balls on them. you almost have to take your hat off, right? This is very clever. Reuse your old listing, keep all your old good ratings, and then just shove this new Drm technology and force people into using your new labels and base them on your old reviews. Unbelievable.

Unbelievable. If Dymo couldn't get any worse, there you go. Catch you next time.

It get better, I can't even ask a new customer question on Amazon UK app, just search. DRM comes up a lot for some odd reason.

I think that's more Amazon than Dymo… I've come across that on numerous product pages and find it very irritating. By default, all reviews for each "style" are consolidated but you can filter reviews for just the one you want. I just did that and the oldest review was October 10, 2021 and, funny enough, it was bitching about the label issue. As Amazon is showing as the reseller, I suspect they setup the product page. Definitely not defending Dymo's policy on the labels… I just think that the misleading product page is Amazon's doing.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Josiah McGlothin says:

I can't even review their printer on Amazon, Amazon says "Amazon has noticed unusual reviewing activity on this product. Due to this activity, we have limited this product to verified purchase reviews."

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars antilogism says:

I've seen a few cases where Amazon had cross-reviewed with unrelated products. I always figured it was just human error but this case looks malicious.

I got with Amazon for false advertising and they're saying they will investigate…..
Let's hope they pull it down for false advertising

You need to start calling out the ceo. Faceless companies don't give a crap. Peter Weyman is the ceo and he is in Australia. Give him a call! Let him know what a scumbag he is.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars chrimony says:

I always look at newest ratings before buying on Amazon. Sometimes companies and products go south. And they also aren't the only company to do product page hijacking — it's quite common on Amazon.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars George Prout says:

    0 star – terrible
    1 start – bad
    2 star – poor
    3 star – ok (yay!)
    4 star – good
    5 star – excellent

I see 3 star as "it does exactly what you'd expect this product to do", 5 star is they customised it to my needs and they delivered within an hour.

This need to push 4/5 stars just pushes me away from those products, I just want a solid 3. I got what I expected.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kakureru D says:

scummy ebay sellers do this. I do allot or IT, guess all of the people who get to enjoy my latest anti product rant 😉

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars hartoz says:

The falsification of the listing is Fraud, and is in contravention of Amazon's T&C's you need to report the ad to Amazon.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars XSportSeeker says:

That a store can even do that is pretty shitty practice by Amazon itself… how can you use a product page for a different model to sell a new one? But yeah, seems pretty intentional… just makes the brand look even worse.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars m says:

    – This isn't surprising; I've seen eBay sellers recycling listings instead of making new ones (in the case of eBay, it's to avoid paying eBay fees since individual listings don't have reviews, only products and users have reviews and feedback). This is pretty much to be expected from scammers, including from companies. 🤷
    – Anyone who doesn't look at negative reviews is missing the whole point to reviews. Positive reviews are worthless. 🤦

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Benargee says:

The only thing they should do is indicate the the user wether the paper is OEM or not. This can allow people to know if they bought counterfeit when they thought it was OEM. They should not block the user from using non OEM paper. This is anti consumer.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Haskellerz says:

SSD and HDD manufacturers have been doing this for years.
Releasing products with good quality components, then replacing them with the cheapest components that don't pass QC.
    Amazon doesn't care

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars chevylization says:

About a month ago I posted a one star, detailed review about the 550 on amazon, including photos of the RFID tag on the paper, followed by its immediate return. A week later amazon informed me that the review was removed and I was banned from posting reviews for "community rules violation" on this review. That explains everything.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Geordie Matthews says:

Christ I hope this snowballs until they patch their own product, make the DRM hardware redundant, and never mention it again.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tiky says:

Here's an idea, a toilet paper holder that would only allow un-rolling supported paper roll brands 🤑
No worries for batteries, it generates power from un rolling, oh wait..

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tornadokat says:

The old listings are for "Small Multipurpose Labels", you just saw someone mention the 450 that they were getting the labels for and said the listing used to be for the 450.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Seventh Anubis says:

"Geez, boss, what if people see through it and we lose sales on both printers and paper?"
"Nonsense, our customers are the biggest idiots, they'll go for it like rats to rat bait…"

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dafeichu says:

This is like Keurig. A bunch of years ago they started selling models that would only use their k-cups. The coffee shop where I bought my cups told me to hold onto my machine and not to upgrade. I finally had to get a new machine about 6 months ago, Keurig brand, and thankfully I can use whatever brand k-cup that I choose.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars A Stevens says:

report them from misleading listing and review harvesting. |
edit : well, i tried to report it for violating amazon rules under "Misuse of ratings, feedback or reviews:" but its next to impossable, they used to have a report option on every page, now you have to dig around and its still hard to find.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Mitchum says:

You can’t even review this on Amazon unless your a verified purchaser.
Amazon knows there going to get hammered with bad reviews on this if the haven’t already!!! My trust in Amazon has just dropped significantly after seeing this BS tactic in keeping the reviews positive towards this Dymo pile of crap!

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Patrick Outhier says:

I ran into an "Amazon's Choice" ESET NOD32 listing selling counterfeit keys, I got a refund from Amazon and reported the listing to Amazon and ESET. The listing later changed to Bitdefender and then a desk lamp…

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Error 42 says:

Was looking into Dymo printers for work but will be looking elsewhere now. The DRM was bad enough, but if they have done what you are saying then that's just out right deception. Goodbye credibility.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ian Philip says:

It's a wonder the toxic ecosystem behind desktop and commercial printers from brother through epson to Xerox took so long to be adopted.

I have always had a burning hatred for this control f*ckery. As such statement/rant: If I own it you do NOT get to tell me what to do with it. Your guarantees and warranty are useless horseshit anyway.

We all know your products are overpriced, overhyped and overrated anyway so stop messing around with customers and they'll buy your stuff.

If I ran my business with this ethic I'd be flat broke and living on the streets.

When our parents were our age of they didn't dismantle and lubricate once a year literally EVERYTHING broke.

I know I know, safety this, eco that.

Do the world a favour manufacturer's, stop taking the blame for people being thick and put the products back where they belong.. In our hands!

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars B’19-GÈ3o ̄5 says:

We should mass report these listings to Amazon's fraud department. Clearly they're falsifying product reviews at that point.
