Many top Youtubers have been sponsored by a company called Established Titles recently. It's a classic vanity/novelty scam.
The rabbit hole goes deep. I provide some extra detail not in other videos.
Kamikoto Knives, Fail Ventures, and Galton Voysey are all part of it.
Highland Titles is another company offers the same thing, land in Scotland and the title of Lord or Lady

#scam #debunking #Youtube

Hi, it's YouTube scam time. Now this is not a regular uh, debunking video. It actually involves a whole bunch of like big name YouTubers who have been uh, taking a sponsorship from a company called Established Titles and uh, also Kamakoto uh knives as well. and you might have, you know, seen the uh in video sponsorship thing.

this video sponsored by established titles or whatever and uh, there. It turns out that it's a scam and basically and a whole bunch of prominent YouTubers have um, like, taken the sponsorship money and you know, probably almost certainly with good faith of course. Um, so don't blame them for taking it because such YouTubers we have to make a living I Personally, don't take any of these uh, sponsorship ones. Haven't taken a single one in 13 years, but I'm not in the same situation as other YouTubers I've got other income sources that I can rely on, but certainly if YouTube was my only income Source then yeah, I'd probably have to have in video uh, sponsorship as well.

So I'd be looking at taking these sorts of deals. Anyway, in the last uh, 24 hours, there's been a video from Scott Schaefer here I haven't seen his channel before. um, but he's done an excellent video. I'll link it in up here and down below.

I Highly recommend you watch it I won't go over uh, all of the details that he's basically a three-step process to. uh, debunking this thing. um, this Established Titles company as a scam Anyway, um, or here's a list of like some of the prominent YouTubers that have been caught up. you know, Ben Shapiro uh, Phil Phil DeFranco is a big name uh you know Matt Walsh and like David Pacman show and you know, like there's most of them I haven't heard of because I'm not in this space.

Anyway, there's a whole bunch of YouTubers that have done in video sponsorships for established titles and also Kamikoto knives uh who are also um, basically owned by uh, the same company and there might be other Uh companies as well. but anyway, um, watch Scott's video. What is this established titles thing? Well, very quick. Uh, recap here.

it's basically this company um owns. It turns out it's a Hong Kong based company owns a block of land in Scotland and they claim to be able to sell you here. it is, uh, you can become a lord or lady or whatever. Um, you know you get a sit and you get like a frame certificate I'm a lord or I'm a lady because they'll sell you one square foot of land in like Scotland And it turns out that not only are they a Hong Kong uh company, but it uh, turns out that legally, no, you don't own the land and no legally you can't become a Lauder lady.

So it's one of these like vanity kind of uh scans where they sell you a fake certificate or whatever you know you buy like a you can get it like an asteroid named after you or something you know there's There's like tons of uh, these sorts of you know, scam vanity scam I guess uh, you could call them around. but uh yeah, as it turns out, no, you can't call yourself a little lady. it's just it's just BS right? And it turns out that um, if you watch um Scott's video over here he talks about how they have like a countdown timer on the site to make it look like you know you've got X time left. It looks like they've actually removed this so it looks like some changes and we'll see later.
Some changes have been made in response to this, um, you know, debunking of this thing uh in the last 24 hours. but it turns out that this isn't the first time, um, that it's it's been. You know people have talked about this scam. if you're typing type in established title scam into YouTube there's actually uh, this simply explained uh.

video here is a good one. That was from a month ago. He's only got 141 subscribers so it didn't get much. Out Of Reach Maybe though all those videos came uh, recently.

uh, the biggest. Uh, there's Scott's video there but he is one four days ago like and uh, two years ago from someone called Neil Um, can you really become a Scottish law to tablet established titles scam so it's not? you know, hard to sort of, um find whether or not this is legit. So anyway, normally I wouldn't do a video on this because it's already been done. but I've actually they actually approached me and I've got some additional information which is not in Scott's video.

So let's go through this. Um, so they actually contacted me and you can see here: I've uh, wiped out the email name and the phone number and stuff and the person involved. but here it is. This is what all us YouTubers get all the time.

like practically daily. We get one of these sponsorship emails and and I usually just you know. straight to the spam, you know, hit the spam button. but if they do actually say hey if they usually include my name in there hey Dave hey, David then I'm gonna like give them a personal reply in this particular case I just replied but sorry, not interested YouTubers get these all the time.

established Titles: the Project: blah blah blah yeah it's a fun novelty gift so they're even in in here. They say it's like a novelty gift so it's You know it's a novelty. So up front they're kind of like a little bit honest and they're they're honest. Liars So this was back in.

uh September Anyway, they wanted to pay me 450 bucks which isn't my much for something like this. It's It's not like I've turned down five thousand dollar offers for sponsorship for one video. so yeah, it depends on the niche you're in and that kind of thing. But yeah.

anyway, like some of the top YouTubers they'll be getting paid a lot more than that five thousand dollars I'm sure. Anyway, they're using one of 60 second and 90 second YouTube integration here. Now it comes from a company called Geltonvoicy.com and this is quite common. YouTubers will get these sponsorship deals from advertising agencies and they're They can be like legitimate huge advertising agencies which big companies uh go through to.
you know, talk to us influencers to do the deal and they take a you know, 50 cut or whatever. It is like a huge uh cut. and yeah, they're basically the middleman between the Uh Creator and the company that wants to advertise. So you know right off the bat it looks like like it's not from established titles.

it's from Gelton Voicy.com So let's go and have a look at 2 Galton voice. He is like it sounds like a a advertising agency doesn't it? So anyway we go over here. Here we go. We are the alliance of independent Brands Uh who are we Talent team of Mavericks who come together to build the weeds world's leading direct consumer E-commerce leading to direct to Consumer Brands We do this by building acquiring a partneringly with E-commerce Brands Ah but once again right up front like you don't have to do any detective work, they actually tell you if you went to the effort to go to the website.

We currently have five DTC brands that we own 100. Um, guess which brand they own 100? So there's no link on this website that I can find to which brands that they actually own. but I think you're already guessed. But the interesting part is, of course we go over to the culture and team over here and they don't try to hide any of this.

Okay, so this is all out there, right? So here's all the people running this. Okay, so these two names here William Wolfren and Katarina Yip These two seem to be the main ones involved in all of these companies, including Uh Katarina Yip is the owner of established titles. In fact, if you go over here there we go. Established Titles was founded by Katarina Yip There you go.

So yeah, um, so they also own Not only do they own, um, this, what appears like you know to a YouTuber at a casual glance appears like just yet another. uh, you know, marketing agency you're being contacted by, but they actually own all of these titles. and in Scott's video. Anyway, basically, um, look, they they own this other company's Venture Capital company called uh fail Ventures Ironically, right of fail Ventures Fire Ventures is a unique we're fast.

You know, we're faster failing now. So the founders 78 new Ventures from scrap uh scratch and six have succeeded, right? and uh in Scots one. Actually, this website also seems to have changed because if you go over to where Scott's video here, he shows you their website here which seems to have changed unless I'm on a different Uh website they own deal dash which is dodging its own right. Uh, and look here's this Golton Voicy here.

It's actually there kamakoto knives and established titles. So all the YouTubers doing kamakoto knives and established titles are being contacted by Galton voicy here and it's just one big circle jerk right by this uh couple in Hong Kong And there's other people like Ringo Wong here. He's also account co-founder and surprise surprise there he is there. So yeah, you can see that right.
There's all these same people are all across these companies and there's probably even more to this as well. So all these people, they're all just form these companies. You see this again and again with these Venture Capital uh people. And these you know, they set up these uh, companies that get the latest fed, the latest scam or whatever it is.

Um, in in this particular case and they have all white and you know, marketing wake uh behind it right? So all of these same people, they're all tied together and you don't have to go far down the rabbit hole. it's all in their company websites, it's all on their LinkedIn And if you just do a cursory uh, examination of the companies that you're dealing with in this particular case I Didn't bother going further at the time I just said yeah, no thanks I'm not interested. Um, but yeah, if like, if I was except in a sponsorship opportunity, then yeah, I'd At least you know, check out the company and maybe, um, this is some incentive to YouTubers to go down the rabbit hole just a little bit deeper and seeing if you know how any companies are tied together in their reputation may you know as something as simple as like typing in as you know, established titles scam and you can see this video going back two years Right there it is. Um, yeah, so it's just I once again, I Don't blame the YouTubers and please don't blame any of you YouTubers Don't stop.

You know, subscribing or following just be because they you know promoted this um, scam thing. it's just they're just trying to make a living and it sounded pretty good because I'll actually show you also which uh Scott didn't show you I can show you that the pack that they actually sent you. it's only a brief one. but here see they give you this uh PDF and this is very common for you know these companies.

They will have these uh you know media packs which they send to the you know influences that uh want to sponsor. You know about established titles so they give you some background and then what campaign they want. We'd love it. If you can touch on our main talking points, sometimes they'll give you the talking points and and when you do a video, you'll have to give it to them for approval and they go.

Yep, you've met all our talking points and that sort of you know stuff because they're you know, paying money so usually they just don't leave it up to you. They will want to like sign off on the videos. So here's some sample ad Integrations and stuff like that. Often they'll like, uh, point to other YouTubers yeah, look at those.

Cinema Therapy I don't know I haven't heard of them. but yeah, it looks like they link over to YouTube video go so you can go in there and watch it and then it all looks legit so you can see other legit YouTubers are like, you know, doing this, then it. You know you wouldn't necessarily think to sort of like investigate any uh further because it all sounds legit, especially when it comes uh, from what looks like like you know, a typical, you know, high-end uh media marketing company kind of thing. but you don't know that they're all intimately tied together.
It's it's all just one big circle jerk. um to sell this established titles scam. So this is a very brief one. Some are much more detailed than this, but this is typically what the influencers will get and they'll give examples and it's all very well done.

It's all very professionally done so you can't blame really. I Can't blame any YouTubers for um, falling for this sort of thing. but anyway, um, hats off to Um Scott and the other people who've uh, debunked this I just thought I'd add something extra there. And the other thing that they simply explained uh, video did here.

Apparently they've had the number of, you know, the amount of money raised because apparently they'll plant a tree for every person who buys one of these established titles thing. and then they just they don't actually plant the tree, they just use some third-party company, they just supposedly pay them and uh, that's you know to plant this tree and apparently that's a legitimate organization. but of course you can just give your money straight to the company who plants the tree. So anyway, um anyway he found that uh yeah, this figure that they had, uh planted, you know, and planted all the money that they raised to actually plant these trees.

So he discovered in the uh way back archives that this was figure was always the same 42 000 uh pounds raised or whatever. So if we go and have a look at um the current one raised, how much have they raised? it's suddenly look at this, they've added a ticker there. It's suddenly, um they're planned at least one to over two million trees planned in Scotland around the world where most need a one one tree planted or something is the company. So they've changed that.

So they've changed it from forty two thousand dollars donated did to apparently two million if you believe it. Uh, 2 million trees are planted or whatever. So yeah, they've just changed their website and uh, they don't have the countdown timer on there anymore so it looks less scammy and stuff like that. So I Think clearly they've actually tried to make some changes since this has all come to life.

Yeah, this uh, marketing team is also owned by them in one gigantic circle. Jerk. Unbelievable. Anyway, thoughts and comments down below: Catch you next time.

The info was so easy to find yet big YouTubers that do hours long research deep dives couldn’t dig a little deeper for sponsors, just a shame all round. I’m positive the influencers didn’t know it was shady but I’m just so darn disappointed especially with a couple of the popular YouTubers that usually expose grifters and scams, how ironic and moronic! Great video. Sending love to you from NSW 👍✌️

It smelt like BS from the start, cheers.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Will Ernst says:

I get how this could be a scam, but how are the knives a scam? Are people not getting the knives? It is kind of disingenuous on your part to call the knives a scam if they actually deliver a product. They may be crappy mass produced knives and have affiliations with this company, but that is not a scam. I am a big fan of yours but you should be more careful when you call something a scam, referring to the knives. I'm sure you are fine in Australia, but if you lived in thier jurisdiction you could be exposed to some legal trouble if you call a company a scam. Just be careful Dave, I agree that established titles is dumb, but if they deliver what they advertise, a 1 square foot plot of land and a "novelty" title, then you can't really call it a scam… it is just a really stupid business and idea in general haha. What people don't realize is you can call yourself whatever, and as long as it is legal in your country, you can do it. Being a "lord" does not give anyone any special privilege legally or socially, so it is purely a fiction for sale. But, if people pay for a fiction and recieve what they wanted, then it is not really a scam.

Dave and everybody, just watched Dave's take on this and in the VERY NEXT VIDEO, I'm a subscriber to Sailing Uma which is a program of weekly installments of young couple called Kika and Dan sailing their boat Uma around the world. They're in the Med right now. Kika is talking to her alter ego about what to get Dan for his birthday. Yup! Call him Lord Dan.

There's a sucker born every minute. – P.T. Barnum (but there's no evidence he actually said it)

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jon C says:

I don't understand what the scam supposedly is. It's a novelty gift, somebody gets a bit of amusement from it, nothing scammy about it.
I'm American. I can legally call myself "Lord Whatever" with or without something like this, it means nothing here. My dog is a lord, his name starts with Sir. I didn't pay anybody for it, of course, but there it is.
So what's the problem with YouTubers making a bit of cash promoting a bit of silliness?

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars All Alpha Zero Beta says:

I really wish that YouTubers could get spots with real brand names like one of the Gaint Soda Cola brands. But they're too worried that if they did in video spots with 1,000 youtubers, 3 to 4 years from now one of those YouTubers will be caught on camera singing along to a rap song and say the N word with the song. Media will fake a panic about it. (Most people won't actually care.) And the only reason the media will cover it is because those YouTubers are competing with them for those advertising dollars. So YouTubers are stuck with Late-Night Infomercial grade products that are at best cheap crap masquerading as premium products. Kamikoto, RayCon, Blaux, etc. I guess there might be some legit stuff advertised but I don't trust it if advertised here.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 2009dudeman says:

I want to see a video where someone goes around to websites like these, compiles how many trees each ones claims they have 'planted' and tally them up. See how many saplings have supposedly been planted. I'd bet the figure is ridiculously high. Established titles for example was founded in 2019, so being generous and saying Jan 1st 2019 to Jan 1st 2023 for our numbers we get a total life of 1,460 days. Their website doesn't even have the tree counter anymore, I think because someone did the same thing I am doing. But we can use the 2 million number from Dave's Video. Thats 1,370 trees per day! Even going by One Tree Planted's number of an average $1 per tree, thats still $1,370 per day supposedly donated by Established Titles. Clearly there is a discrepancy in the numbers on their website how they went from ~42k trees to ~2 million in just a week or so, but maybe they just forgot to update it…. What does 1,300 trees per day look like? Well, if you are hand loading into a semi truck thats 6 hours of the day gone (from a florists website) just packing almost 1400 trees into a semi-truck. Not to mention the time required to haul them out into the wild to old logging camps where there are no real roads. So you are using hand carts, animals, or slow offroad vehicles. It would be a full time job 8 hours a day for a 50 man crew just to plant 1300 trees per day. Now how many places are also claiming that much volume?

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Peter Sage says:

Doctor Mike was taken in by this; in his pitch, he claimed to have bought a title for his father as a gag gift. (Such sentimental [peewoop]) Still, as novelty title scams go, this is fairly innocuous, and as novelty Christmas gifts go, it is far less expensive than other gifts that will quickly become a shelf queen or wall hanger like a juke box or a guitar.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brick says:

One does not simply buy land on the internet. If you own a piece of land the government is going to come after its pound of flesh, i.e property taxes. Especially the Scottish government, who'd tax the air you breathe given the chance.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rx7man says:

I think a better name for them would be Embellished Titles

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mikko Pulkkinen says:

What a bizarre video. If it's a scam, then the people perpetrating the scam are at fault, including the youtubers. Needing to make money is obviously not an excuse, even though Dave somehow pretends it is.

But how in the fuck is this a scam? They call it a novelty gift. You would have to be seriously mentally challenged to think you're actually becoming a lord or whatever.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GsaUce Rug says:

    White van established titles scam

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Watt says:

Dave, they apparently own several areas of land in Scotland: one of which is in the area I grew up in.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sven Rötters says:

I know YouTubers struggle to make a living, but any sponsorship does bleed over to their reputation.
If they take those shady sponsorship's, at least be smart about it. Make it so that a certain amount of arrow presses let anyone skip it (e.g. LTT 2x arrow right and you skip the ad), add a chapter mark or change the layout of what we see, so we can scroll over it.
If they don't do even that, guess what happens …

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Claire M says:

Sounds like a great gift for Karen 😂

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mirko says:

This needs more attention. The knife scam is currently making the rounds again so they can get some of the Christmas money.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Blake says:

I always saw it like naming a star. I never thought of it as a scam because it's like a novelty. I suppose I can see what you mean with it being a bit dubious but I always figured everyone just knew it was not a real thing just for fun, and a bit of a waste of money

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars IanScottJohnston says:

Born and bred in Scotland I find the whole proposition of selling Scottish titles absolutely ludicrous and insulting.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sourand jaded says:

saw these years ago, always knew it for what it was. the whole concept is nonsense. exactly that. tawdry vanity "gifts". nothing at all.
i remember the debunk about them then… probably neil…

surprised me to see them start popping up again recently. thought it was dead and buried long ago.

    oh well.
