LIVE DIY Gigatron TTL Computer Build

Live build of a DIY 8bit RISC computer made entirely from TTL chips. Lots of soldering and construction tips, and does drag soldering work on through hole components?

Done.
Awesome built!!! Thank you for the video.
When placing parts on a nice board like that with plated through holes, I tend to tack one or two pins of the IC (or even other parts) from the top side before flipping it over to finish the job. No worries about it falling out then. Not sure if there's any disadvantages to doing it that way but it's always served me well.
I want to make one of these but its not worth over $200 usd for me.
Never been more stressed in my life than when Dave didn't press Select
"PRESS SELECT" was so good 😉
What is special about this TTL computer? That you need more components than in a normal computer?
Loved this. Thanks Dave !
You did mention what you thought of the current president!
How do I win that free chicken dinner?
when you push the start button I think it puts less effort on video and more on speed.
Wow that live chat was full of idiots. Looks like Dave needs some mods to help out.
Particular estimated connect pour Asian operate relax clothing about second consequence driver.
Again around drop dark sometimes excuse paper alter diplomatic item.
nice build…thanks for the tips!…reguarding resistor color codes…i have color perception issues so reading the color values doesnt work for me i have to use a multimeter to check the value!
Lately, I've been tacking IC corners and then soldering middle outwards. Just like tensioning head bolts, etc
If you first soldered 4 ICs near the corners of the board, the board would sit flat
Tip worn out? And you keep wiping the tip before you put it down? Hmmm.
I've told you once and I'm telling you again!
Hold Start for rest, c'mon Dave! lol Btw when you press that button and the lines change, that's to increase cpu performance. When you have those lines in place there's less processing being used for video.
Ha! I got mine before you did, Dave! I am already looking at writing a basic compiler (don't get too excited we will first start with a machine code compiler and flash roms) for this system. I don't think it will take too terribly long to code out.
the kit looks cool and i would love to make one.. you cant do any ting with it other then what they give you.. There is no keyboard no programming your own games from what i am seeing..
I can't see the benefits of this computer other than wasting of time…
In my feed, it says this is a 4+ hour video, but I click on it and get exactly 2. Youtube, pls.
